1 Grade 5 Vocabulary Anointing of the Sick: the sacrament by which God s grace and comfort are given to those who were seriously ill or suffering because of their age. Sacrament of Healing. Chrism: perfumed oil blessed by the bishop. Confirmation: the sacrament by which we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in a special way. Sacrament of Initiation. Holy orders: the sacrament in which men or ordained to serve the church as deacons, priest, and Bishops. Sacrament of Vocation/Service. Marriage: the sacrament in which a man and woman become husband and wife and promised to be faithful to each other for the rest of their lives. Sacrament of Vocation/Service. Sanctifying grace: the gift of sharing in God s life which we received in the sacraments.
2 Grade 5 Prayers Joyful Mysteries The Annunciation. The Visitation. The Nativity. The Presentation in the Temple. The Finding of the Child Jesus after Three Days and the Temple. Prayers for Souls in Purgatory Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Queen of Heaven (Regina Caeli) Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia. The Son whom you were privileged to bear, alleluia, has risen as he said, alleluia. Pray for us to god, alleluia. Rejoice and be glad, Virgin Mary, alleluia. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia. Let Us Pray Oh God, it was by the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, that you brought joy to the world. Grant that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother, we may attain joy of eternal life. We asked this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Conversion: turning to God with all one s heart. David: chosen by God to be the second king of the Israelites. Eve: first woman created by God. Exodus: the biblical word describing the Israelites departure from slavery to freedom. Genesis: the first book of the Old Testament. Isaiah: prophet in the Old Testament. He spoke out against idolatry and injustices against the poor. Israelites: God s chosen people Jeremiah: prophet in the Old Testament. Warned the people about being unfaithful to the covenant. Jerusalem: is known as the city of David. Where the temple was located. Manna: a sweet bread-like food that God provide into the Israelites in the desert. Moses: let the Israelites, slavery. Receive the Ten Commandments from God. Old Testament: tells the story of God s chosen people, the Israelites (Jews). Also called the Hebrew Scriptures. Oral Tradition: the handing on of unwritten traditions by word of mouth. Passover: the event in which God passed over the whole of Egypt, taking the lives of every firstborn Egyptian and saving the Israelites. Prophet: someone who speaks on behalf of God, defends the truth, and works for justice.
4 Proverbs: brief sayings that give wise advice. Psalm s: poetic prayers designed to be sung or chanted to some kind of musical instrument. Synagogue: local church for Jews Temple: the house of worship built in Jerusalem by Solomon as God s dwelling place. Yahweh: another name for God that means I am who am.
5 Grades 6 Prayers Luminous Mysteries The Baptism at the Jordon. The Miracle at Cana. The Proclamation of the Kingdom and the Call to Conversion. The Transfiguration. The Institution of the Eucharist. Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, Be or protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander the earth seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
