2 From the pastor s desk. THE PATH OF THE PALM BRANCHES During Jesus' earthly ministry, He often told people not to tell anyone who He was; even when his brothers encouraged Him to go public. He said it was not yet the right time. But the day He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey was the appointed time, the only public announcement that He was God's promised Messiah, Fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9.9. His announcement was rejected by many, yet God's plan was fulfilled. They waved palm branches as He passed And hailed Him as their King; Yet, they knew not of the sorrow The coming week would bring. The glad acclaim would soon give way To jeers and mockery; In Pilate's court He'd be condemned To a cross on Calvary. But Jesus knew He was the price In God's redemptive plan, The Sacrificial Lamb come down To die for sins of man. The centuries have passed and still He seeks those lost in sin, Pleading with unyielding hearts To repent and follow Him. On this day we shout our praise, O, let us not delay; The palm-strewn path of long ago

It s a boy! Congratulation to Alex and Danielle Corum on the birth of their son, Kaven Alexander Corum. Kaven is the grandson of Greg & Sha Corum. His big sisters, Kensley & Kelsyn are very proud of their new baby brother. HOLYLAND COLLECTION ON GOOD FRIDAY There will be a Holy Land collection on Good Friday. There are envelopes in your packets for this collection. SYMPATHY Our prayers & sympathy to the family of Evelyn Bates who passed away this week. She is the sister of Mamie (James) Sandrell and aunt of Michael Sandrell. May God grant her heavenly rest. THANK YOU A special thank you to everyone who contributed to the Earthquake victims in Japan. Sacred Heart collected $ St. Joseph collected $ A total of $1, was sent to the diocese. EASTER EGG HUNT The Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Ladies Altar Society, will be Thursday, April 21st at 1:30 p.m. on the school & church grounds. Children, not in school are asked to meet in the gym. Anyone wishing to help with new eggs or a donation can contact Dianne McMasters. There will be an Open House for the Pre-K class that will be registering for next year. EASTER MEMORIAL LILIES The Easter Memorial envelopes are available in the back of the church for anyone wishing to remember their loved one by giving money for the Easter Lilies to decorate the MOTHER S DAY POETRY CONTEST The Lawrence county Chapter of Tennessee Right to Life will be sponsoring their annual Mother s Day Poem contest open to all students grades 3-6 titled, Thank you, Mom for LIFE. A flyer is inserted in the bulletin this week with all the information. The deadline is Friday, April 29, ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FUNERAL MEALS If you have appreciated the special ministry of a meal and time to visit with family after the funeral of a loved one, you can appreciate the ladies of Sacred Heart Church. We are in need of additional volunteers to provide food for funeral meals. Please call the church office at if you can help. Thank you. HOLY THURSDAY FOOT WASHING A member from each organization will be needed for the Foot Washing on Holy Thursday. Donna will be contacting the chairpersons of the organizations. Please be thinking of someone that can help with this. We will need 12 people. SOMEONE TO DO YARD WORK A parishioner is seeking someone to do yard work for them. The job will consist of weeding flower beds, trimming shrubs, and working in the yard. If you are interested call Vicki

Make plans to come and help. Water will be provided. THE BEATIFICATION OF POPE JOHN PAUL II Divine Mercy Sunday Sunday, May 1, 2011 is the Beautification of Pope John Paul, II. It is also Divine Mercy Sunday. There will be a Divine Mercy Program and Rosary at 3 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Everyone is invited to come for this very special service and to be a part of the process to the sainthood of Pope John Paul, II. Divine Mercy pamphlets are in the back of the church.

Everyone is invited to come, bring some food and celebrate. HOLY WEEK MASS SCHEDULE Easter Holy Week begins Palm Sunday, April17 through Monday, April 25. Palm Sunday will begin with procession to the church. St. Joseph will gather in the back of the church, SHC will gather in the PLC. Monday 6 p.m. Mass Tuesday 8 a.m. Mass Wednesday- 8 a.m. Mass, Chrism Mass 6 p.m., Nashville Holy Thursday, Mass will be at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart. We will have procession of the Blessed Sacrament. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed after the Mass. Please come and make a visit during this time of exposition. Foot Washing -We will need 12 members for the foot washing. Each organization is asked to provide one member to assist with this. Good Friday, Stations of the Cross at 2:30 p.m., Good Friday Service at 3 p.m. There will be a collection for the Holy Land. Envelopes are in your packets that you received in mail. Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil, Mass will be at 7 p.m. with the lighting of the fire at the PLC. Process to the church in candlelight. Easter Sunday, Masses at 8 a.m. in St. Joseph and 10:30 a.m. in SHC. Easter Monday Communion Service at 6 p.m. NOTE: Anyone having Rice Bowl money, SICK & SHUT- INS Please remember our sick and shut-ins and let Fr. Tomy know so he can visit and pray for them.
