Those who would like to know more about their faith, please call the rectory office for more information PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK/SHUT-INS: Please notify the rectory when a family member is ill or hospitalized. Ministers of the Eucharist are available to bring communion to those ill and homebound. Our Catholic Faith is always celebrated when we gather for Holy Mass and Break the Bread and receive the Sacred Chalice of our eternal salvation. Our Catholic Church has been offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass since the Last Supper. Mass is offered daily throughout the world. What a gift from God. In prayer and song we worship the Living God. We listen with attention to the Sacred Scriptures and we come to the Altar and receive the Body and Blood of the Lord in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. I thank our good people for coming to Sunday Mass in the summer and on vacation. Keep up the good work.the Mass schedule for our grouping of St James and St Mary will be announced on Sunday August 19. We are excited about our new relationship with our two Parishes as we prepare to be one new Parish in a few years..we offer sympathy to the family of Bob Beck who was buried from our Parish on July 31. Bob attended daily and Sunday Mass for many years. He died at the age of 90. God be with his daughter Mary and Tom Volk and their children.please enjoy the last month of summer. Pray for one another. Do Not Work for Food that is Perishable but for the Food that En dures for Eternal Life God, in his providence, created the world and everything in it. He made it all very good and, as he sets us forth into the world to enjoy the beauty and substance of his creation. However, the created world is not meant to be a distraction from God, but rather that which draws us ever deeper into the mystery of his Fatherly love for us. His greatest gift to us, and that which unites us most fully to him, is the gift of himself in the Eucharist. Under the appearance of humble bread and wine, Jesus comes to us as nourishment and strength. However, this food not only nurtures our bodies, but our souls as well, enlivening us as we make our pilgrim journey to heaven. From the Eucharist flows the life and mission of the Church as, united in Holy Communion we are formed as the Body of Christ to do his will on earth. As the implementation of the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative draws near, may we not be distracted by the things of this world that will ultimately pass away, but instead focus on the Eucharist as we are united in faith and walk together to eternal life. Many consider that the topic of giving money to the church and to the poor is not only sensitive but vehemently disliked by many. The parishioners of St. Mary s have always been very generous and one again we will be asking for support for 2 more causes. AUGUST 4-5; The Mission Office of the Diocese of Pittsburgh has assigned the Reverend Santhosh George, O. S.S. T, a member of the Trinitarians to our parish. Please welcome and support this mission in whatever way you can. AUGUST Closer to Home NHCO is continuing to assist hundreds of families in need of assistance with dehumidifiers, fans, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, damage assessment and referrals to other agencies where needed. A particular focus has been reaching out to seniors to assure their safety and determine their needs due to the flooding. A second collection will be take August to help with basic needs. Your donation to this effort are deeply appreciated. A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar In today s gospel Jesus tells us: Do not work for what perishes. Give your life to what endures such as the family history you are creating, the love and mutual respect which bonds you together, the memories you share and the forgiveness generously given. These are the true treasures that are worth working and dying for.

3 August 5, th Sunday in Ordinary Time EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY -- The Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, Greensburg, have openings for a full-time LPN or RN and a full-time NA to care for retired/infirm sisters on the 11-7 shift at Caritas Christi, the sisters motherhouse. Positions require heavy lifting. This is a non-licensed facility with a focus on patient care, not paperwork. Interested candidates should call , ext DIOCESAN CHOIR AUDITIONS. Auditions for the Diocesan Choir season will soon be held. The Choir, under the direction of Fr. Jim Chepponis, Music Director for the diocese of Pittsburgh, sings for the major Diocesan events at St. Paul s cathedral throughout the year. Currently there are openings in all sections. In addition to being good singers, potential members must be capable of sight reading due to a limited rehearsal schedule, and be at least 18 years of age. Rehearsals are held at St. John Capistran Church in Upper St. Clair. Auditions times may be scheduled by calling Doris Anne in the Diocesan Music Office ( ) before August 21. PITTSBURGH CATHOLIC SCHOOL featured on EWTN -- Tune in to Eternal Word Television Network ( EWTN ) Global Network on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 4:00 PM (ET) for the debut airing of The Global Family Eucharistic Holy Hour ( GFEHH ) program.
