Who should commune at the Altar of Glory of Christ Lutheran Church? According to the Scriptures and the Confessional statements of the church only those should commune who have been examined and absolved by the pastor. If you wish to commune at Glory of Christ for the first time, please talk to the Pastor before doing so. Holy Communion is the most intimate expression of Christian fellowship and it is important to the members of Glory of Christ Lutheran Church that all who commune have a common understanding and commitment to the Gospel teachings of the Bible.

2 Altar Flower Chart: The cost of the Altar flowers is $40 per Sunday and you will be able to take your flowers home with you after the service in a box located on the kitchen counter. In order to have your payment for flowers applied correctly, please use one of the Designated Offering envelopes found in your box of envelopes or label the outside of one of your regular envelopes with the words Altar flowers. Janice Hartness is our flower coordinator. If you have any special requests please contact her at by the Wednesday prior. If you take the black liners home, please be sure to bring them back to church by the following Wednesday. Thank You! Saturday Divine Service: 5:00 PM Sunday Schedule: Divine Service 9:00 am; followed by Bible Class and Sunday school at 10:30. Lenten Services We will have two Lenten services each Wednesday through March 25 th with a morning Lenten Service that begins at 11:30 am with a soup lunch following and then, an evening Lenten Service at 7:00 pm. Dinner will be provided by various groups from our congregation each Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 pm. Please join us! Northwest Suburban Circuit Congregation Prayers Each week we will be praying for a congregation in the circuit and for others who have or have had a connection with them. This week, we are asking for prayers for Beautiful Savior, Plymouth and Pastor Timothy Stoebig and Pastor Joe Behnke. SAVE THE DATE! Mark your calendars for this years Mission Fest! A new Bible Study on 1 Corinthians has begun. Paul s letter to the Corinthians speaks to issues that are still relevant today such as: Factions in the church, Closed Communion, Christian freedom, lawsuits, love, worship, living a single life and the Resurrection of the dead. Glory of Christ is having another Blood Drive GoC is partnering once again with the Red Cross and is having a Blood Drive in our Fellowship Hall on Monday March 9 th from 1:00 to 7:00. We will need 6 volunteers to work 2 hour shifts at the registration table that day, 1:00-3:00, 3:00-5:00, and 5:00-7:00. Please let Brenda know if you can help with this. 3 Vine and Branches Conference The theme for this Conference is Broken; If we can Just and the prominent speaker is Rev. Jonathan Fisk; Naperville, IL. He will address this topic in three sections The First Path: The Idolatry of Order, The Second Path: The Idolatry of Worship. The Third Path: The Idolatry of the Leader. This Conference endeavors to help teach, promote, and reunite the connection between Christ and His people. 4 At Glory of Christ the pastor typically makes announcements after the service. So the service just starts at the appropriate time without a specific welcome. (The welcome actually occurs in the service itself when the pastor says The Lord be with you and the congregation responds.) To follow the service you should turn to the page indicated at the top of your bulletin insert. This week the page is 184. Usually we simply work through the service interrupting the process for the singing of hymns, certain prayers and the scripture readings. The prayers are usually printed in the service folder as are the Scripture readings. Hymns are found in the latter half of the Service book. If you are having trouble following the service you can ask someone nearby and they will help you. You can also comfort yourself with the knowledge that almost everyone has a little trouble following the service the first time through. It gets easier. Worship Notes The Third Sunday in Lent John 2:13-22 Sacrificial Vending Machine Here in the temple courtyard, convenience was king. You could buy whatever you needed for your sacrifice: oxen, sheep, pigeons. It was the ancient version of a sacrificial vending machine. Only one catch they didn't take regular currency. You had to change your money for temple coins, and the exchange rate was never in your favor. The whole operation was worse than a payday loan outfit, charging exorbitant fees for their services. Who was really being worshiped there in the temple, the almighty God or the almighty dollar? Woodford How to start a mission congregation and still use the hymnal It will be a discussion of the place of the historic Liturgy and historical hymnody in the life of new congregations. Workshops of Lutheran Liturgy are intended primarily for lay-people of the Lutheran church. The Christian in the pew is most affected by the worship forms and liturgies employed in the chancel. These Christians would be well served to attend these stimulating and informative workshops.
