Who should commune at the Altar of Glory of Christ Lutheran Church? According to the Scriptures and the Confessional statements of the church only those should commune who have been examined and absolved by the pastor. If you wish to commune for the first time at Glory of Christ please talk to the pastor before doing so. Holy Communion is the most intimate expression of Christian fellowship and

2 it is important to the members of Glory of Christ Lutheran Church that all who commune have a common understanding and commitment to the Gospel teachings of the Bible. Altar Flower Chart: The cost of the flowers is $30 per Sunday and you will be able to take your flowers home with you after services. Please clearly label your payment for flowers so it gets applied correctly. Janice Hartness is our flower coordinator. If you have any special requests please contact her at by the Wednesday prior. Sunday Schedule: Divine Service at 9:00 am followed by Bible class and Sunday school at 10:20. Saturday Night Divine Service: Divine Service 5:00 pm. TYING QUILTS FOR WORLD RELIEF at Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins on Mon. Feb. 21st and Tues., Feb. 22nd 9 am - 2 pm. Anyone interested in this project should meet at Glory of Christ at 8:45 am for car pooling in a day of fellowship and fun. Many children often arrive without hats and mittens because, their parents do not have the means to purchase them! "And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward." Matt. 10:42 It might not feel like summer yet, but Vacation Bible School planning is well underway! In order to bring VBS back to Glory of Christ this summer, June 13-16, we need full congregation support! If you would like to hear how you can volunteer, please join us for a meeting, Feb 15, from 6:30 to 8:00. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Childcare has been arranged at the church. Please let us know how many children to expect so we are properly staffed. A Big Thank you! for all the cards, prayers, calls, visits, and smiles from my Family at Glory of Christ. I was clearly protected by God's angels on Monday morning, but God gave me even more, a reminder of how special Janel, Paul, Ryan, my family, and my friends continue to be to me. 3 The VBS task force is very pleased that the congregation agreed to provide the funds for a top notch VBS this Summer. Our first meeting of the year was enormously productive as we have procured the services of Diane Meyer, an experienced LCMS church worker who will help coordinate the effort. Please save the date Jun Our goal is 70 kids and 100% involvement of the congregation. Anyone interested in early registration please contact Dawn Rolf or Naomi Teske. So the service just starts at the appropriate time without a specific welcome. (The welcome actually occurs in the service itself when the pastor says The Lord be with you and the congregation responds.) To follow the service you should turn to the page indicated at the top of your bulletin insert. This week the page is 151. Usually we simply work through the service interrupting the process for the singing of hymns, certain prayers and the scripture readings. The prayers are usually printed in the service folder as are the Scripture readings. Hymns are found in the latter half of the Service book. If you are having trouble following the service you can ask someone nearby and they will help you. You can also comfort yourself with the knowledge that almost everyone has a little trouble following the service the first time through. It gets easier.

Old Testament Reading: Exodus 34: When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. 30 Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.
