Sacrament of Christian Marriage: Please contact one of the priests eight months to a year in advance to schedule your wedding and begin preparations. Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturday from 3:15-3:45 p.m. or anytime by appointment. Sacrament of the Sick: This sacrament is available to anyone who is ill. 2 HOLY CROSS CHURCH Dear Parishioners, Happy Easter! Lent is over and the glorious 50 days of celebrating Jesus resurrection have begun. Alleluia! Next week 75 of our tenth grade parishioners will be Confirmed here. A few weeks later on May 6 th 64 second graders will receive Jesus for the first time as they receive their First Holy Communion. Baptisms are scheduled along with weddings. Three of my brothers in the Congregation of Holy Cross will be ordained priests next Saturday. The Church throughout the world is most alive during the Easter Season. We at Holy Cross Parish are most alive when we gather as a community each weekend to celebrate God s presence here. I encourage you, if you don t regularly attend Mass, to renew your commitment to God and fellow parishioners this Easter Season and return to the regular practice of the faith you renewed at this feast. Many people comment at holidays and wellattended Masses how different and inspiring it is when the church sings out and responds whole-heartedly in prayer. I definitely agree. Holy Cross Parish is blessed with many families who call this their spiritual home through generations and new families moving to Easton who register because of the great things they hear about the parish. The Parish needs the financial support and your presence throughout the year of the 1,300 families registered in the parish. So see you again next week! Hopefully one of these days winter will finally give way to spring. I look forward to starting seedlings for the garden soon. All of the beautiful flowers in church are a great sign of hope that spring is on its way. I pray that as the weather warms and new life buds forth, that you and your families enjoy getting back outside as I will. I look forward to seeing the kids back out on the baseball field behind church, cheering golfers on during the Parish Golf Tournament and firing up the grills once again. The snow is beautiful but I think most of us are ready to be done with it. Know you remain in my prayers for a blessed Easter Season. God Bless, Fr. Easter Flower Donations Envelopes for donation of Easter flowers are available in the church vestibule and the side exits of the church. At times, the families of Holy Cross parishioners who have passed away request that gifts in their memories be made to Holy Cross Parish. These gifts are then used for special projects in the parish. This is a wonderful way to honor someone active in our parish at their passing. We invite you to consider remembering Holy Cross Parish in this way in your funeral arrangements or at the death of a loved one who is a parishioner of Holy Cross. Your thoughtfulness and generosity will help us continue to minister to the needs of our parishioners and the wider community. 2 The following items are requested to help these local agencies serve those in need: Father Bill's/Mainspring Homeless Shelter in Brockton: Deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, combs, canned vegetables Birthright: Baby wipes, diapers, small drug store gift cards Family & Community Resources: Canned soup, pasta and sauce, mac & and cheese, rice, canned fruit & vegetables, side dishes, toiletries My 's Brother's Keeper: Cooking oil, salt, pepper, spices, flour, sugar, baking mixes, pancake mix and maple syrup, sponges, foil, plastic baggies/ wrap, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper goods, dishwashing liquid Jon David Louison Family Shelter: Snacks for kids lunches, baking mixes, canned goods, macaroni and cheese, juice, pasta Donations are gratefully accepted in the vestibule of the church on the first Sunday of every month. 4 APRIL 1, 2018 Please consider a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society baskets at the doors of the church as you leave today. Thank you for your support of our charitable works. Holy Cross sponsors a meal at the Mainspring Shelter on the third Saturday of every month. Please sign up on the Mainspring Board in the church vestibule to deliver prepared food to the church kitchen between 1:00 and 2:55 PM or serve at Mainspring from 2:45 to 6:15 PM. Meal Suggestions: cooked chicken or ham slices or pieces, pasta dishes w/ meat & sauce, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing & cranberry sauce, cooked vegetables, tossed salad, extra pasta sauce or gravy, deserts and fresh fruit or fruit salad. Your time and dishes are greatly appreciated! Bible Study meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Both groups are studying a panorama of the New Testament. It is a survey of God's people from the Gospels to the Book of Revelation. Everyone is welcome. Come. Join either group. Jim Madigan Golf Tournament Easton Country Club 1:30 p.m. Shotgun Start Easton Knights of Columbus Announce Scholarship The Easton Knights of Columbus is seeking applications from graduating high school seniors for our annual scholarships. Each scholarship shall be awarded to an applicant accepted and enrolled in any degree-awarding accredited college, junior college or preparatory school for the 2018/2019 academic year. The scholarship winner shall be chosen by a committee consisting of Knights of Columbus members who shall consider the life experience of all applicants including an individual s academic performance; participation in extracurricular activities; and most importantly, exhibition of a commitment to share with and give of self to others. Interested individuals (particularly those individuals related to past or present Knights of Columbus members) are encourage to apply by letter to: Knights of Columbus, c/o Attorney Dennis Nolan, PO Box 397, North Easton, Ma , on or before April 28, The next monthly baptism preparation dates are April 7, May 12 and June 9. Movie Night/Parent Night Out Friday, April 13, 5-9 p.m. Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 The cost is $15/child, which includes 2 slices of Papa Gino s Pizza, 1 bottle of water, unlimited popcorn, child sitting. Candy and soda will not be sold this night. Schedule: 5-6:30 p.m.: Bingo/Various Games 6:30-7:30 p.m.: Pizza 7:30-9 p.m.: Movies: Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 If you want to joins us for the movie only there is no charge, but a parent must be present. Morning Mass Remember that morning mass is celebrated in the Brother Andre Chapel in the parish center Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m., except Thursday when mass is followed by Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the church. The Catholic School s Hope and Opportunity Initiative 5 The Foundation to Advance Catholic Education (FACE) and Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools are excited to announce The Catholic School s Hope and Opportunity Initiative. This Initiative will provide 100 scholarships for up to $2000 per student for the school year to new low-income K-8 students in Fall River, Taunton, and the Greater New Bedford Area Catholic Schools.
