3 My Dear Parishioners, Our Life in Christ I greet you through this letter in the love of our Lord. As many of you know, after time in prayer, discussion with my family and in consultation and with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios I asked for and have been granted a three month sabbatical. I celebrated my last liturgy on Sunday, September 24 th and began my sabbatical on September 30 th. I have served you for almost 11 years and I never could have imagined that we would have accomplished so much. Our first Liturgy brought us together as strangers. Now as I prepare to leave the parish, it is with a feeling of Christian friendship and fellowship which unites each of us together and which will keep us together in our hearts. Birthdays were celebrated by Dora Georgeady, Myrtle Johnston, Mary Katsiaficas and Kay Buonocore who turned a young 90 years old. The raffle was won by Victor Kudrin The shop rite pharmacists will be in attendance to administer Senior flu shots at our next meeting. In the lobby of the Church is a bulletin board with a number of bills the church needs to pay. You are invited to chose a bill you would like to pay. Over 400 kits were completed that day with the help of many hands. Thank you to all who participated, it was a great success! On October 15th we will have a Brunch to benefit the Discretionary Fund. 8 Parish Council News GREEK FOOD FESTIVAL The first Greek Festival in New London took place 65 years ago in the lower level of the Church. Over the years, through the love and dedication of countless parishioners, the festival has continued to grow. Today it is the largest Ethnic event in New London County serving thousands of meals, mouth watering pastries and a taste of Greek culture.
