2 Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Meditation Garden Dedication Ceremony Eucharistic Exposition & Benediction Eucharistic Procession from the Church to the Rosary Meditation Garden; gathering of the community outside... Let Us Sing: v1. O salutaris Hostia / Quae caeli pandis ostium: / Bella premunt hostilia, / Da robur, fer auxilium. v.2 Uni trinoque Domino / Sit sempiterna gloria, Qui vitam sine termino / Nobis donet in patria. / Amen. Order for the Blessing of An Image Of the Blessed Virgin Mary Introductory Rites Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of and of the Holy Spirit. All make the sign of the cross and reply: Amen. The celebrant greets those present in the following or other suitable words, taken mainly from sacred Scripture. Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mother, and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All make the following or some other suitable reply. And also with you. In the following or similar words, the celebrant briefly addresses the faithful, in order to prepare them for the celebration and to explain the meaning of the rite. Celebrant: My dear brothers and sisters, we have gathered here in joy for the solemn blessing of this image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Under the title, Our Lady of Fatima, this image will remind us of the close ties of Mary to Christ and his Church. First of all, she is Christ s Mother, the Mother of the visible image of the invisible God. But she is also the image and the model of the Church, and she its exemplar. In Mary, the Church itself desires and hopes wholly to be. The Church recognizes in Mary the model of the path and the practice it must follow to reach complete union with Christ. As the Spouse of Christ, the Church raises its eyes to Mary, the exemplar it must look to in carrying out the work of the apostolate. We should strive to take part in this service with the greatest intensity and reverent devotion. Gospel Luke 1:42-50 Rev. Mr. John Jack Larkin Brothers and Sisters, listen to the words of the holy Gospel according to Luke: Elizabeth cried out in a loud voice and said, Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me? / 3 4

3 For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my Womb leaped for joy. / Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. / And Mary said: / My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. / For he has looked upon his handmaid s lowliness; / The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. / His mercy is from age to age / to those who fear him. Blessed be the name of the Lord forever. Assiting Minister: Psalm 113 Praise, you servants of the Lord, / praise the name of the Lord. / Blessed be the name of the Lord / both now and forever. / From the rising to the setting of the sun / is the name of the Lord to be praised. / High above all nations is the Lord, / above the heaven is his glory. / Who is like the Lord, our God, who is enthroned on high. / and looks upon the heavens and the earth below? / He raises up the lowly from the dust; / from the dunghill he lifts up the poor / To seat them with princes, / with the princes of his own people. Intercessions Celebrant: Let us glorify our Savior, who chose to be born of the Virgin Mary and let us pray to him, saying: Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear 5 Savior of the world, by your redeeming power you preserved your Mother from every stain of sin; keep watch over us that we may not sin. (For this, we pray:) Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear Our Lord and Redeemer, you dwelt within the immaculate Virgin Mary and made her the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit; make us temples of the same Spirit forever. (For this, we pray:) Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear Christ our Priest, your Mother stood at the foot Of the cross; grant through her intercession that we may rejoice in your passion. (For this, we pray:) Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear King of Kings, you lifted up your Mother, body and soul, into heaven; help us fix our thoughts and hearts on things above. (For this, we pray: ) 6

4 Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear Lord of heaven and earth, you crowned Mary and set her at your right hand as queen; make us worthy to share also in this glory. (For this, we pray:) Lord, through your Mother s intercession, hear Prayer of Blessing With hands outstretched, the celebrant says the prayer of blessing: Celebrant: Lord God, / we acknowledge your infinite glory / and the abundance of your gifts. / Before the foundation of the world, You appointed Christ / the beginning and end of all things. You chose the Blessed Virgin Mary / as the Mother and companion of your Son, / the image and model of your Church, / the Mother and advocate of us all. She is the new Eve, / through whom you restored / what the first Eve had lost/ / She is the daughter of Zion, / who echoed in her heart / the longings of the patriarchs / and the hopes of Israel. / She is the poor and lowly servant, / who trusted solely in her Lord. / In the fullness of time / she was delivered of the Sun of justice, / the dayspring from on high, / your Son, Jesus 7 Christ. / In her flesh she was his Mother, / in her person, his disciple, / in her love, his servant. Father, / may your children who have provided/ this statue of Mary / know her protection/ and trace in their hearts the pattern of her holiness. / Bless them with faith and hope, love and humility; / bless them with strength in hardship and selfrespect in poverty; / bless them with patience in adversity and kindheartedness in times of plenty. / May they search for peace, / strive for justice, / and realize your love, / as they pursue their journey through life / toward your heavenly city, / where the Blessed Virgin Mary / intercedes as Mother and reigns as Queen. / We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. After the prayer of blessing, the celebrant may place incense in the censer and incense the image. During this time a psalm, a hymn to Mary under the title represented by the image, or one of the following antiphons may be sung. Hymn: Ave Maria Mrs. Lauren DeNitto Celebrant: Let us pray together An Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary: O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and refuge of Sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thy Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life: all that we have, all 8

5 that we love, all that we are. T o thee we give our bodies, our hearts, and our souls; to thee we give our homes, our families and our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us may belong to thee and may share in the benefits of thy motherly blessing. And, that this act of consecration may be truly fruitful and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our Baptism and our First Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously, and at all times the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholics, who are submissive to all directions of the Pope and the bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the Commandments of God and of His Church, in particular to keep holy the practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an important part of our lives, in so far as we shall be able to do. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to the spreading of devotion to the Immaculate Heart, in order to hasten and assure, through the queenly rule of thy Immaculate Heart, the coming of the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thy adorable Son, in our own hearts, 9 and in those of all men, in our country, and in all the world, as in Heaven, so on earth. Amen. Adoration: v. Tantum ergo Sacramentum / Veneremur cernui, / Et antiquum documentum / Novo cedat ritui; / Praestet fides supplementum, / Sensuum defectui. / v. Genitori Genitoque / Laus et jubilatio, / Salus, honor, virtus quoque / Sit et benedictio: / Procedenti ab utroque / Compar sit laudatio. Amen /. Benediction Song: Celebrant: You have given them Bread from heaven. Having within it all Sweetness. Eucharistic Blessing: Celebrant: Lord, Jesus Christ, / you gave us the Eucharist / as the memorial of your suffering and death. / May our worship of this sacrament of your body and blood help us to experience the salvation you won for us and the peace of the kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Celebrant: Let Us Pray, together: Divine Praises Blessed be God. Blessed be his Holy Name. 10
