Nobis donet in patria. Amen. Short period of silent adoration of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament: The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary Introductory Prayers of the Rosary: Apostles Creed, etc. The 1st Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation - Luke 1:26-35, 38 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace!! The Lord is with you." But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of David His father, and He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?" And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." 14 3

The 2nd Joyful Mystery: The Visitation - Luke 1:39-45 During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. The 3rd Joyful Mystery: The Nativity of Our Lord- Luke 2:4-7 Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. The 4th Joyful Mystery: The Presentation - Luke 2:22, When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord... to offer the sacrifice of "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons," in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the Child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to Him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: "Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to Your word, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in sight of all the peoples, a Light of revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel." The Child's father and mother were amazed at what was said about Him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." 4 I. He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation. He has shown the strength of His arm; He has scattered the proud in their conceit. I. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. I. He has come to the help of His servant Israel, for He has remembered His promise of mercy; The promise He made to our Fathers, to Abraham and His children for ever. I. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. ALL: Know that the Lord is coming and with him all his saints; that day will come with a wonderful light, alleluia. The Intercessions: Priest: Jesus Christ is the joy and happiness of all who look forward to His coming. Let us call upon Him and say: ALL: Come, Lord, and do not delay! Priest: In joy, we wait for Your coming, ALL Come, Lord Jesus. Priest: Before time began, You shared life with the Father, ALL: Come now and save us. Priest: You created the world and all who live in it, ALL Come to redeem the work of Your hands. 13

The Capitulum: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 M ay the God of peace make you perfect in holiness. May He preserve you whole and entire, spirit, soul, and body, irreproachable at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He Who calls us is trustworthy, therefore He will do it. Cantor: ALL: Cantor: ALL: Cantor: ALL: [ Silent Prayer and Adoration ] The Responsory: Lord, show us Your mercy and love. Lord, show us Your mercy and love. And grant us Your salvation, Your mercy and love. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Lord, show us your mercy and love. Ö 12 o The Gospel Canticle: The Magnificat St. Luke 1: PLEASE STAND Cantor: See the Lord coming from afar; His splendor fills the earth. 1. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is His Name. The 5th Joyful Mystery: The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple - Luke 2:41-51 Each year His parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when He was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but His parents did not know it. Thinking that He was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for Him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for Him. After three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Your father and I have been searching for You with great anxiety." And He said to them, "Why were you looking for Me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father's house?" But they did not understand what He said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and His mother kept all these things in her heart. Hail, Holy Queen Concluding Prayer of the Rosary The Supplications for Life Priest: Let us pray to God, the Father of Life and Font of all Mercy: All: Lord, have mercy on all who have sinned against life. Priest: You knit us in our mother s womb, All: Preserve all children from bodily harm from the moment of conception. Priest: Your Son ennobled all human life when He became flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary, All: Enlighten our minds to see the dignity of every human life from its earliest embryonic beginnings. Priest: You are author of science and knowledge, All: Bring an end to the destruction of human embryos in re search facilities and in IVF clinics. Priest: You are the law-giver and ruler of the world, All: Help us to overturn unjust laws that permit the destruction of innocent lives, and guide our public officials to defend the littlest among us. 5

Priest: You love those who are afflicted, All: Help parents of unborn children with disabilities to cherish the baby you have entrusted to their care. Priest: Your Son, Jesus, healed the sick, All: Guide all doctors to be guardians of life, especially the lives of unborn children with serious health conditions. Priest: Lord, you are love and mercy itself, All: Draw all who have acted against innocent human life to repentance and forgiveness, and heal them through an out pouring of grace. Priest: Let us again call upon the protection of the Holy Mother of God, bright Dawn of the new world and Mother of all who are alive in Christ, her Divine Son: ALL: O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life. Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen. - Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, Philippians 2:6-11 Antiphonary: The Lord will come with mighty power; all mortal eyes shall see Him. I. Though He was in the form of God, Jesus did not deem equality with God something to be grasped at. Rather, He emptied Himself and took the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men. I. He was known to be of human estate, and it was thus that He humbled Himself, obediently accepting death, even death on a cross! Because of this God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the Name above every other name. I. So that at the Name of Jesus every knee must bend in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim to the glory of God the Father: JESUS CHRIST IS LORD! Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: I. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without you. Amen. ALL: The Lord will come with mighty power; all mortal eyes shall see Him. 11

Psalm 142 Cantor: Know that the Lord is coming and with Him all His saints; that day will come with a wonderful light, alleluia. I. With all my heart I cry to the Lord, with all my voice I entreat the Lord. I pour out my trouble before Him; I tell Him all my distress while my spirit faints within me. But you, O Lord, know my path. On the way where I shall walk they have hidden a snare to entrap me. Look on my right and see: there is not one who takes my part. I have no means of escape, not one who cares for my soul. Priest: All: The Celebration of 1st Vespers First Sunday of Advent [ Please STAND ] O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Priest: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. All: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Alleluia. All join in singing the Evening Hymn: Creátor álme síderum I. I cry to you, O Lord. I have said: You are my refuge, all I have left in the land of the living. Listen then to my cry for I am in the depths of distress. Rescue me from those who pursue me for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of this prison and then I shall praise Your name. Around me the just will assemble because of Your goodness to me. I. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen ALL: Know that the Lord is coming and with Him all His saints; that day will come with a wonderful light, alleluia. 10 7

Psalm 141:1-9 Cantor: Proclaim the good news among the nations: Our God will come to save us. I. I have called to You Lord; hasten to help me! Hear my voice when I cry to You. Let my prayer arise before You like incense, the raising of my hands like an evening oblation. Set, O Lord, a guard over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips! Do not turn my heart to things that are wrong, to evil deeds with men who are sinners. [ Please be SEATED ] I. Never allow me to share in their feasting. If a good man strikes or reproves me it is kindness; but let the oil of the wicked not anoint my head. Let my prayer be ever against their malice. Their princes were thrown down by the side of the rock: then they understood that my words were kind. As a millstone is shattered to pieces on the ground, so their bones were strewn at the mouth of the grave. I. To you, Lord God, my eyes are turned: in You I take refuge; spare my soul! From the trap they have laid for me keep me safe: keep me from the snares of those who do evil. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: I. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen ALL: Proclaim the good news among the nations: Our God will come to save us. g h 8 9
