Rite of Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Stand: The altar server enters the chapel, followed by the presider carrying the Luna with the Sacred Host. We begin to sing a selected song relating to the liturgical season or the mystery of the Eucharist. Kneel: The presider places the Luna with the Sacred Host into the monstrance on the altar. Once the presider has reached the front of the altar and kneels, he will lead all in singing the Salutaris or some other appropriate Eucharistic song. O Saving Victim O saving Victim, opening wide The gate of heaven to man below, Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow. O salutaris Hostia Quae coeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur, fer auxiliu To thy great name be endless praise, Immortal Godhead, One in three. Oh, grant us endless length of days In our true native land with thee. (Amen) Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria, Qui vitam sine termino Nobis donet in patria. (Amen) Stand or be Seated: After the presider has incensed the monstrance, he will wait a few minutes before standing and walking to the ambo to start the reflections. If the Gospel is to be proclaimed, the presider will instruct all to stand. Otherwise, all will remain seated during scripture reading(s). This is followed by a short reflection applicable to the reading and the quiet time of adoration. Adoration Kneel or be Seated: After the reading(s) are completed, the presider and altar server(s) go to their assigned seating to start their private adoration/devotion. 1

Reflections on the Eucharist - Eucharistic Holy Hour Eucharistic binds you with chains of His love My God loves me, his love will never end. He rests within my heart, for my God loves me. He comes to me, in sharing bread and wine. He brings me life that will reach past the end of time. His gentle hand, he stretches over me, Though storm clouds threaten the day He will set me free. Quote: "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself," It was from the height of His Cross that our Lord first drew all the souls to Himself by redeeming them. But when our Lord uttered these words, He certainly also had in mind His Eucharistic throne, to the foot of which He means to draw all souls so as to bind them there with the chains of His Love. Our Lord wants to instill in us a passionate love for Himself." (St. Peter Julian Eymard) Reflection: The Eucharist is the living Holy Cross from which our Lord draws us to himself as He promised he would. He draws us to himself so that He may securely bind us in his redeeming love in order that we may be liberated from our earthly shackles that enslave us. Do earthly cares and worries draw you down? Do you find it difficult to avoid falling into temptations? Do you feel that you have toiled so much but accomplished too little? Have you found no comfort or relief from these depressing moments of life? Go then to the Eucharistic Lord at the first possible opportunity. Kneel before His throne at the foot of the altar and gaze upon his love enshrined therein. He will draw you to Himself and embrace you in his redeeming love. Remember the words of that song "Love changes everything". Prayer: Lord Jesus, you said that when you are lifted up from the earth, you would draw all things to yourself. Here I am Lord. Tired and weary, broken and wounded. Lift me up to yourself. Draw me closer to your sacred heart and let me hide in your loving embrace. Still the storms that toss me about and grant me your grace to rise up like the phoenix and to soar above the stormy clouds. Grant me the grace to glorify God in my life no matter where I may be. Amen. 2

O take me to Thy Sacred Heart and seal the entrance o'er That from home my wayward soul may never wander more. O Jesus, Heart meek patient kind, my soul to thee I turn; Thou will not crush the bruised reed, the sorrowing spirit spurn. I've sought for rest, and found it not in things of earthly mould One heart alone is worth my love, that heart that grows not cold. Yes, Jesus, take me to thyself, I'm weary waiting here, I long to lean upon thy breast, to see to feel Thee near. A passionate love for Jesus in the Eucharist Sweet Heart of Jesus! Fount of love and mercy Today we come Thy Blessings to implore; Oh, touch our hearts so cold and so ungrateful And make them Lord, Thine own for evermore Sweet Heart of Jesus, we implore, Oh make us love thee more and more. Sweet heart of Jesus! Make us know and love thee. Unfold to us the treasures of thy grace. That so our hearts, from things of earth uplifted May long alone to gaze upon they face. Quote: "Unless we have a passionate love for our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, we shall accomplish nothing. Certainly, our Lord loves us passionately in the Eucharist; he loves us blindly without a thought for Himself, devoting Himself entirely for our good. We should love Him as He loves us." (St. Peter Julian Eymard) Reflection: Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, made a gift of himself to us on the Cross. Jesus laid down his life on the cross because he loves us. Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends. In order that He may continue to abide with us until the end of time, He instituted the Holy Eucharist which is the sacrament of his passionate love for us. Just as a lover waits for his or her beloved to arrive and express and his or her passionate love, so too, Jesus, waits for us to come into His loving presence before this Sacrament and offer our passionate love for Him. Every time we visit the Church and kneel before the Eucharistic Lord, and say "Lord, I love you, help me to love you more and more", we would be fulfilling the Lord's passionate desire and enjoy His 3

abiding presence in our daily lives. Let us then, find time to visit the Lord, even though it be only for a moment or two. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for laying down your life for me on the Cross and for leaving us a memorial of the gift of yourself in the Holy Eucharist. Lord, grant me the grace to always be conscious of your love for me and grant me the opportunity to visit you more frequently in the Blessed Sacrament so that I may draw strength and be nourished by your passionate love. Help me to see your face in the poor and the needy and respond to your love by my love and care for them. Amen. Chorus: To be the body of the Lord in this world, to have His Spirit coursing through my soul, To know the passion of my Jesus, in His love for every man To show His mercy in the shadow of His land. Come walk with me, Come share my life. You must know the shadow, if you would know the light. The Eucharist makes you like unto HIM To be like Jesus, (2) All I ask to be like Him All through life's journey, from earth to glory; all I ask to be like Him. To be like Jesus, (2) All I ask to be like Him Not in a measure, but in its fullness; all I ask to be like Him. Quote: " When we work hard, we must eat well. What a joy, that you can receive Holy Communion often! It's our life and support in this life -- Receive Communion often, and Jesus will change you into himself." (St. Peter Julian Eymard) 4

Reflection: Food is essential for our physical nourishment. Those who have no food to eat suffer and die of malnutrition. So is your soul. If you are starved of spiritual nourishment, your soul will also suffer and die of spiritual malnutrition. Our Spiritual food is the Word of God and the Holy Eucharist; the Body and Blood of Christ. Do we hunger for this Bread of Life? By receiving Holy Communion as often as possible, we will be fed with the life-giving Word and spiritual food of the Eucharist. What is different between material food and spiritual food is that the former become part of your body while the latter changes you into Jesus himself and His divine life pulsates within you. Prayer: O Bread of Heaven, come to us we pray. Be the true bread that sustains this home everyday. Make us holy and live for Thee, make our family a Eucharistic family and nourish us always with this living bread, so that our home may be another "Bethlehem"; the house of bread for all who live and visit this home. Amen. 3. "This command says the Lord, I give especially to you Love each man as I love you. By this sign all will know, what I have to bestow through this love man I renew." 4. From this banquet of Life bring my love to the world. Be a sign for all to see. That I bring man my peace, through the breaking of bread, that I come to make him free." Take your troubles to the Eucharistic presence Hymn: Chorus. Come to the table of the Lord, my friends Come to the Altar of His love. 1. Bring Him your cloudy doubts and fears my friends Bring Him the storms within your heart Quote: "Go to the good Lord very simply, with the surrender of a small child. Tell the good Lord what you are thinking, what you want, what is upsetting you. Oh! How happy we become when we discover this interior conversation with our Lord. We carry our treasure [with us] everywhere. He become center of our heart and life." (St. Peter Julian Eymard) 5

Reflection: Are you tired, weary, worried, over-worked, sick, anxious, in pain, in need of a friend, in search for an answer? All you need to do is to take all these to the Lord in the Eucharist. Kneel before him and surrender all to him. As a child would trustfully tell his or her needs or pain to mum or dad, so too pour out your heart before the Eucharistic Lord and tell him all about it and you will see the difference. The Lord will take care of it all. Make him the centre of your life, then your problem becomes his and he will answer your prayer. Prayer: What a friend we have in you Lord Jesus? All our sins and grief's to bear? What a privilege it is to carry everything to you in prayer. Oh what peace we often forfeit Lord, what needless pain we bear. O Lord I place all my cares before you, in you I entrust my cares. What a faithful friend you are O Lord. You know our every weakness. I bring to thee O lord in prayer. Precious Savior you are our refuge. In your arms you'll take and shield me, Lord I find a solace there. Amen. The Eucharist nourishes the Church Where are happy Christians all united in the Lord We belong to one family. Jesus Christ has chosen us to carry on His life Over every land and sea. From the north and from the south and from the east and west He has called us all together, Yes we are delighted, that we are united Into God's own family. Quote: "The reason for the Eucharistic sacrament is the love of Jesus for his Church...Jesus wishes to stay on earth with his Church and for his Church so as to be her life, her power and her glory." (St. Peter Julian Eymard) Reflection: There is a very intimate relationship between the Eucharist and the Church of Christ. When Jesus instituted the Eucharist- he laid the foundation of a new spiritual community of people, a community we call the Church. When the Apostles ate and drank what Jesus handed to them, they entered for the first time into sacramental communion with him. From that moment in the Upper room until the last time that a Catholic congregation celebrates the Eucharist at the end of the world, the Church has been built up and will continue to be built up through sacramental communion with Christ. This Church is none other than you and me. Jesus loves us and continues to give himself to us 6

in the Eucharist as our nourishment, so that strengthened by the Eucharist we may journey towards our heavenly home and share one day in the heavenly banquet of which the Eucharist is foreshadow. Let the Eucharist be at the centre of your life then. Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for the gift of the Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of your love and your abiding presence with us through this sacrament. May we always experience your presence in our lives. As we your Church continue on our pilgrimage on earth with our eyes fixed on heaven, may your Eucharistic presence and power permeate every nook and corner of our homes, of our lives and the lives of those who come in contact with us. May we become a Eucharistic family as we consecrate our family to the Holy Eucharist. Amen. All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give I will ever love and trust Him, in his presence daily live. Chorus: I surrender all / All to Thee my precious Savior, I surrender all. All to Jesus I surrender, make me Jesus wholly thine Let me feel thy Holy Spirit, Truly known that thou art mine 7

Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament Kneel: Once the individual, private adoration/devotion is completed for the hour, the presider and altar server will return to the front of the altar. While the presider incenses the monstrance, all sing the Tantrum Ergo (or other appropriate Eucharistic song). Tantrum Ergo Down in adoration falling Lo, the sacred host we hail; Lo, o'er ancient forms departing, Newer rites of grace prevail; Faith for all defects supplying, Where the feeble senses fail. To the everlasting Father, And the Son who reigns on high, With the Spirit blest proceeding Forth from each eternally, Be salvation, honor, blessing, Might, and endless majesty. (Amen.) Tantrum ergo Sancramentum Veneremur cernui: Et antiquum documentum Novo cedat ritui Praestet fides supplementum Sensuum defectui. Genitori, Genitoque Laus et jubilatio Salus, honor, virtus quoque Sit et benedicto: Procedenti ab utroque Compar sit laudatio. (Amen.) All remain kneeling when the Preside says, Let us pray : Lord our God, you have given us the True Bread from Heaven. In the strength of this food may we live always by your life and rise in glory on the last day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. (Amen.) or Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of your suffering and death. May our worship of this sacrament of your body and blood help us to experience the salvation you won for us and the peace of the kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. (Amen) or Lord our God, in this great sacrament, we come into the presence of Jesus Christ, your Son. Born of the Virgin Mary and crucified for our salvation. May we who declare our faith in this fountain of love and mercy Drink from it the water of everlasting life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. (Amen) (or another appropriate prayer may be used) All remain kneeling while the Presider elevates the monstrance and as all gathered then recite the Divine Praises. 8
