9 First Sunday of Advent December 1, 2013 The King is coming; the King is coming prepare you the way. Happy Communion Sunday. Angels from realms of glory, wing your flight over all the earth. Sing your creation story telling of the Savior s birth. Spirit of the living God please fall fresh on me. Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me that I may be able to say what you would have me to say because; He is Lord God Almighty the newborn King. Today is the first Sunday in Advent. Today is the Lord s Day, come let us rejoice and be glad in it, telling the world, that you know, Jesus is Lord. Tell everyone you meet, tell it where ever you go. Jesus is Lord and He is living in you and He is living in me. Hallelujah He s Lord, glory to the new born King. Christ only, always living in me! Let every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, King Emmanuel (God with us). Today is the first Sunday of Advent. During the season of four Sundays we will remember the coming of our Savior, Christ our Lord, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The meaning of Advent is a coming. The symbols that are used to help us to understand great events in the life of our Lord. Purple is the color used during the Advent season which will end with the change to white on Christmas. There are many interpretations associated with purple preparation, penitence feeling sorrow for our sins or offenses repentant. Watching to be on the lookout. Fasting to abstain from. Sadness grieving, mournful, somber. Tempered with hope. Advent: Season of expectancy, watching and waiting toward the Lord s coming. This is a glorious time of the year in the Old Testament. 3 And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the Lord to the house of the God of Jacob: and he will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law and the world of the Lord from Jerusalem. The promise for the last days. Isaiah 2:3 1 I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. 6 Pray for peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Psalm 122:1, 6 11 And that knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believe. Romans 13:11 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. Be you also ready, Jesus is coming back again. Amen Amen Amen Members from the Prayer Ministries will be available Sunday mornings after worship service in the Prayer Chapel for anyone who desires prayer for self or others.
