Daily Masses will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Church. The weekend Masses at St. Thomas Aquinas will be at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday There will NOT be a 7 p.m. Mass during Winter Break. Please make a note of these changes on your calendar. New Years Eve & Day Mass Schedule There will be a Mass on New Year's Eve at 4 p.m held at St. Thomas. There will be a Mass on New Year's Day at 10 a.m held at St. Mary. Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish Donations Numbers were not available at the time of the bulletin going to print because of the holiday. They will be posted in next weeks bulletin. PARISH MERGER-FINANCE While the canonical decree will change our name to Our Lady Queen of Peace effective Dec 3, 2018, the merger of the civil corporations (that affect finance and accounting) will not be completed by that date. Please continue to write any checks to "St. Mary Church" or "St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel" until we get further direction from the Diocese. Thank you!! We are so grateful for the hundreds of gifts that were contributed by parishioners, and we estimate that about 1,000 items, plus wrapping paper, gift bags, tags and bows were distributed to Catholic Charities, Coventry and Mansfield Human Services, Holy Family Home and Shelter, St. Joseph Living Center and W.A.I.M. In addition, we had volunteers who sorted, counted, packed and transported gifts between the parishes and to the receiving agencies and made announcements after Masses. A big thank you to all who participated in any way you have made this Christmas season a happier one for many of our neighbors, and have kept the true spirit of CHRIST in Christmas! Please join our celebrant Rev. Ray Introvigne at Mass as we pray to end abortion and for the healing for those who have had an abortion. Following the Mass, the Rosary will be prayed both at the Cathedral and Planned Parenthood. Holy Family Retreat Center, West Hartford Fri.-Sun., January 4-6. In an age of division, tension and change, enjoy a weekend of peace and reflection exploring the theme No Ordinary Path: Holiness in Everyday Life. God has called all of us to lives of holiness. No Ordinary Path will explore ways that we can be attentive, intentional, and cooperative with God s grace in serving the world. Together we will take a journey, with the hope of discovering that who we are and what we do matters. We ll reflect on how living an ordinary life of holiness can lead to extraordinary happiness and peace. The retreat begins with a buffet dinner Friday evening and concludes with brunch on Sunday. What can I do to help our family practice our faith each day? Some families practice their religion together as just another event on their schedule: go to church, observe Lent, help at the parish picnic, go to a meeting, volunteer time, make your confession, use your envelope. The focus needs to be on who we are: God's people, in relationship with him, loved, forgiven and redeemed, and called to live and proclaim the Gospel. Our awareness of God's presence and our sense of mission are supported by the daily rituals, celebrations, and traditions that help us stay focused. Sharing our faith strengthens us and clarifies the beliefs and values of Christian living. Daily family practices include time for prayer-before meals, before bed, before important meetings and activities. Attend Sunday Mass together and discuss the homily afterward. Create family celebrations for holy days and holidays. Make religion a regular part of your discussions. Include others, especially the elderly and the less fortunate in your activities and charitable efforts. By applying the virtues of faith, hope, and love to each day, faith becomes part of who your family is. It influences how you act towards others, what you value, and how mindful of God you are. Faith is the leaven of life that helps all of us rise to our calling and dignity as God's people. Diocese of Norwich Catholic Family Services Is your marriage tearing you apart? 5 Christmas Pageant The Christmas Pageant was held at St. Mary Church on Christmas Eve, We would like to thank Kathleen D'Amelio our new DRE and Kathleen Breitenwishcher who directed the play with Jennifer and John Vertucci, Jennifer Kearney, and Tracie Johnson who assisted and of course all of the students who did a great job of putting on the Pageant. The church was filled almost to capacity and the choir and Ernie Golnik did a great job with the music. It was really a blessing to celebrate Christmas with the Mass and Pageant.
