2 P R & U he Lenten eason Lent is among the more significant seasons of the Christian Year. t begins with sh Wednesday and continues for forty days and six undays on to Easter unday. By the way the undays are not a part of the Lenten eason; hence they are undays in Lent, not of Lent as many preachers specify mistakenly. 3 dult Confirmation Class ince have learned that some know some and some know nothing about the United Church of Christ and how it came about, have decided to facilitate an adult Confirmation class on the United Church of Christ starting Monday, March 19 th at 7:00PM 8:30PM in the ilty Room. Be sure and bring something to write with and even to take some notes. his will take the place of the Evangelism class for right now. have talked to both the fficial Church Board and the earch Committee with members of both requesting more education on the United Church of Christ. he class should be very informative and educational for everyone that attends. - Dr. Bob Earth our Mar. 31 elping to protect our planet. aturday, March 31 at 8:30 pm many around the globe will participate in not using their electricity for an hour, to commit to protecting our planet. his is the largest single participating event of its kind. Lent ends officially at noon on aturday. n some Christian traditions this has been a period of baptisms, in keeping with the Pauline concept of this rite as our being buried with Christ in his death in our sojourn to joyful resurrection (Romans 6:4 and Col. 2:12). he liturgical color for this season is purple, symbolizing the mood of repentance that has prevailed throughout the various occasions of more serious worship and devotion. nd as Paul arvey used to say nd now you know the rest of the story! s we move through this Lenten eason towards the joy of Easter unday we invite you to join with your church family, each unday in Lent, as we seek to recommit ourselves to following Christ more closely and seeking forgiveness in these forty days for not living the kind of Christian life that Christ intended. We will celebrate Maundy hursday, pril 5 th, at 7:00PM in the anctuary with the acrament of oly Communion. his service will begin with the postles meeting in the upper room and then move to the arrest, trial, conviction and crucifixion of Christ on the cross. his will be a very solemn service from start to finish with no greeting and at the end of the service everyone will leave in total silence until outside the sanctuary. n Easter unday morning join us for the Joy of the Resurrection for unrise ervice at 6:30, followed by a light breakfast in the Donut Room. (n case you are wondering, YE! free will donation will be accepted to off- set the cost of the breakfast.) Early ervice at 8:45M and Late ervice 10:45M with the acrament of oly Communion celebrated at both services. Easter Lily ign Up We will be ordering Easter Lilies to beautify the church on Easter unday, pril 11. he plant s cost is $9.00 and the plant can be taken home after the services on Easter. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you wish to purchase one. lso indicate if you are purchasing the lily in honor or in memory of anyone. 5 Youth Mission rip June 3 9, 2012 ur youth workcamp Mission rip will take us to Big Creek Missions in Kentucky.
