4 Page 4 September 16, 2018 Ramblings from Father Michael May the peace of Christ be in each of your hearts. Thank you for praying with our faith community of St. Michael the Archangel this weekend. Our prayers and thoughts go to the people of the Carolinas as, at the time of writing, they await the forces of Hurricane Florence. Let us be one in prayer for them. Several parishioners have commented on the improvements that our new landscaping company are making around the church property. This week they are doing a complete evaluation of our irrigation system. This is something which has not been done in some time. The next phase will be to mulch and to replace the dead plants and shrubs on site. Hopefully, by the time our winter parishioners return, the place will be looking good again. You are probably aware that Pope Francis visited Ireland recently to attend the World Families Convention which was held in Dublin this year. His visit was a huge success. He was very warmly received by all but the Irish media. They had predicted that very few people were actually interested in his visit and that this would be reflected in the small numbers who would attend the various Papal events. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. Large numbers came to greet him from all over the country and beyond. The Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) gave a wonderful address where he stated that the Irish Republic was established in 1921 and for the first twenty-five years, the country did not have State run schools or hospitals or social services. All of this was done by the Catholic Church and it was important to acknowledge that truth and to thank the church. Pope Francis seemed very pleased with the gracious welcome that he received...even if it rained! Wishing every one a blessed week, Fr. Michael

All ladies of the parish are invited to join this group who, as well as having social events, also supports the parish and local charities with their fundraising events. To join call Pauline at Annual Membership Fee: $15.00 WELCOME BACK! St. Michael s Womens Guild first meeting of the new season will be held on OCTOBER 15th at St. Boniface s Parish Center.
