2 Reconstruction of Our Yoruba History - 4 Third, we look into archeological finds, evolution theory and their interpretations. Some historians have worked on archeological finds in ancient towns like Benin, fringes of the River Nile in Egypt, etc to prove a connection between the Yorubas and those people. We must note that such archeological finds would never disclose the place of origin of the dead and what his destination was. The possibility of a Yoruba herbalist, merchant or religious convert moving from his homeland to heal and trade with his distant neighbours or visit holy lands at the beginning of civilisation cannot be ruled out. For instance, if a Yoruba Christian or Muslim convert died on his way to the holy lands in Israel and Mecca in ancient times, his remains would neither disclose his origin nor his destination. To rely on such archeological finds as basis for truth is to misconstruct history. Some historians have relied heavily on Darwinâ s evolution theory to find a place for the Yorubas in history. While others might have evolved from amoeba, fish, chimpanzee, etc. I assert that the Yorubas were a creation of God and did not evolve from ape to man. Mr. Sowumi was one such authority who relied heavily on anthropology. In his piece mentioned earlier, he adapted anthropological studies based on the theory of evolution and carbon dating to establish the period when Oduduwa reigned and concluded that the latter was definitely a jail-breaker Benin chief. There were so many loop holes in his reliance on distorted history, misunderstood anthropology and questionable evolution theory.

3 Was and is it the norm that an erring chief be put in prison rather than be dethroned or banished from performing his traditional rites in the palace in Benin, how much more of a prince and a heir to the throne? If yes, why did the reigning Oba of Benin not put the Ezama of Benin, Mr. Gabriel Igbinedion, into prison when they had some misunderstanding in the 1990s? Second, if Oduduwa was a run-away jail-breaker, what right has his grandson Eweka to the throne in Benin? Was and is it the norm to compensate erring and disobedient families with the throne at the expense of loyal and obedient chiefs? Third, if Oduduwa was truly from Benin, how come the Edo language was not imposed on the Yorubas over whom he reigned as a king? We can draw a parallel here. The British colonized Nigeria and handed down English to us. All the tribes in Nigeria are united in one language today â the English Language. The French did likewise with our neighbours: Republic of Benin and Cameroun. Why was Edo language not as pervasive in Yoruba land as the English language? The truth is that Edoâ s Ekaladerhan was not the Yorubaâ s Oduduwa. Evolution theory is baseless on issues pertaining to man. There are at least seventeen (17) scientific evidences to show that evolution never took place. The non-scientific ones are equally as numerous. For instance: (i) No person has found a lizard that gave birth to a fish or a bird that gave birth to a snake. Neither has there being any ape that gave birth to a man nor has there been any plant that turned into a snail. Where then is the reliability of his homosapiens foundation?

4 Let me quote extensively from one of the scientific evidences: â œin a letter to Luther Sunderland dated April 1979, Dr Colin Patterson of the British Museum of Natural History wrote: â â I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transition in my book. If I knew of any fossil or living, I would certainly have included them. You suggest that an artist should be used to visualize such transformations, but where would he get the information from? I could not honestly provide it, and if I were to leave it to artistic licence, would that not mislead the reader? Just think of it! Here is a man sitting amidst one of the greatest fossil collections ever and he knows of absolutely NO transitional fossilsâ (See: 17 Evidences Against Evolution, (ii) The probability of human evolving from ape is zero. James Coppedge, PhD, of the Center for Probability Research in Biology in California â œâ computed a world in which the entire crust of the earth â all the oceans, all the atoms and the whole crust was available. He then had these amino acids bind at a rate one and one-half trillion times faster than they do in natureâ.he found that to provide a single protein molecule by chance combination would take 10 to the 262nd power years. â To get a single cell â smallest living cell known to mankind â which is called mycroplasm hominis H39, would take 10 to the 119,841st power years. This means that if you took pieces of paper and wrote 1 and then zeros after (it), you would fill up the entire known universe with paper before you could ever even write the number. That is how many years it would take to make one living cell, smaller than any

5 human cellâ â œaccording to Emile Borel, a French scientist and expert in area of probability, an event on the cosmic level with a probability of less than 1 out of 10 to the 50th power will not happen. The probability of producing one human cell by chance is 1 out of 10 to the 119,000 power. â œsir Fred Hoyle, British Mathematician and Astronomer, was quoted in Nature magazine, November 12, 1981 as saying â The chance that higher life forms might have emerged in this way (evolution) is comparable with the chance that a turnado sweeping through a junk yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein (See: 17 Evidences Against Evolution, ibid). (iii) Carbon dating can be misleading. While in the HSC class in 1979, I knew that my friend who was over twenty always passed under 18 years test for the volley ball team. How? He would fling his hands over his wrist bones as many times a day for at least two weeks before the carbon dating test. He remained under 18 years and played for the school volley ball team until he left the HSC class. Apart from the above, it is on record that: â œâ a living mollusk was dated using the carbon-14 method. The readings said it had been dead for 3,000 years. Lava rock from a volcano in Hawaii which erupted in 1801 were tested using the potassium-argon method. The readings showed them to be nearly 3 billion years old. Moon rocks were tested by various radiometric methods yielding dates ranging from 700 million to 28 billion yearsâ (See: 17

6 Evidences Against Evolution, ibid). I conclude that such archeological finds, dating methods, evolution theory, historical constructions, legends and myth employed so far have been grossly inaccurate to describe the origin of the Yoruba race.
