Creation Studies Institute Tom DeRosa 1. It God s Word The Word of God = Logos of the Universe Everything we observe every idea & thought John 1:1 In the Beginning 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Plan Determines the goal God wants to create man and the cosmos to glorify Himself Determines the path the way Six literal days of Creation Genesis 1 Determines the materials needed The Cosmos in the first day Determines the starting point A point in space and time In the beginning Initiates the plan By His Word John 1:1 1. John 1 In the beginning was the word Introduction to the spoken word -Logos- Jesus Christ 2. Genesis 1 God said is used 10X Note: The creation account is based on God s word 2
1. Gen 1:3-4 -And Godsaid, "Let there be light," and there was light. 2. Gen 1:6 -And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 3. Gen 1:9 - And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, 4. Gen 1:11 -Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed 5. Gen 1:14 - And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs 6. Gen 1:20 -And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly 7. Gen 1: And Godsaw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 8. Gen 1:24 - And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, 9. Gen 1:26 - Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the bird 10. Gen 1:29 -Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning the first day. 3
Aramaic - Yome 1. day 2. day always refers to twenty four period when the word in modified by a definite or cardinal number. Ancient Hebrew YoWM This child root is day. The Hebrew day ends when the sun sets and a new day begins. In the land of the Hebrews, the sun sets over the Mediterranean Sea (yam). Yom then literally means, the time between the setting of the sun over the water. Ancient Jewish Calendar 5774 years Beginning-reshiyth (Hebrew pronounced ray-sheeth ) Creation of Time The point of space and time that everything starts from. 0 Past Present Future Time T The KJV Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon defines a day as a division of time. God s Word defined a day as an absolute measure of time. A constant interval of time T= day The Interval does not change 4
T YOM First Day Length of a day 24 Hours T Evening And Morning One Complete Rotation 4 th day Day is used 1562 times in 1389 verses and is always a 24 hour literal day. Days are used 863 times in 790 verses and are always a series of 24 hour literal days. Day of the Lord is used 26 times in 24 verses is a reference to a limited time period of judgment. It is never intended to allow long time frames for evolution to take place. When a numerical adjectiveis attached to the word day (and there are two hundred known cases of this in the Old Testament) the meaning is always restricted to twenty-four hours (i.e., first day, second day, etc.). See a precise parallel in Numbers 7: When the plural form ( days ) appears in the Old Testament (over seven hundred times) it always refers to literal days. See Joshua 6:14 ( six days ) where it is quite obvious that literal days are in view. 5
When evening and morning is used 38 times with day in the OT it always means a literal day. The Hebrew terms ereb and boqer for respectively evening and morning are used always literally in Hebrew refer to the 24 hour day as ending of the day and beginning of the day. When the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense; therefore take every word at its primary, ordinary, usual, literal meaning unless the facts of the immediate context, studied in the light of related passages and axiomatic and fundamental truths, clearly indicate otherwise. [Dr. David Cooper of the Biblical Research Society]: If the plain sense makes good sense seek, no other sense lest it result in nonsense. 6
2. Why a literal 7 day week? Exodus 20:11 and 31:
Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Work six days and do everything you need to do. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to God, your God.. For in six days God made Heaven, Earth, and sea, and everything in them; he rested on the seventh day. Therefore God blessed the Sabbath day; he set it apart as a holy day. Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed. Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.. 8
Genesis 1-11 have Hebrew trade marks of being historical narrative. The narrative begins with the Hebrew perfect tense (qatal) followed by the imperfect tense {waw consecutive.) i.e. Genesis 1 Create verb (perfect tense} followed by And said Gen. 1:3 imperfect tense. The waw consecutive as the words and, now, then and other several forms before each noun in Hebrew including Genesis 1 indicates no room for spaces of time. Man Lived Long Ages 9
The face of the earth Waters increased greatly In the earth The face of the waters The earth was corrupt Earth filled with violence Waters prevailed exceedingly Destroy the earth All the high hills All flesh Under the whole heaven Breath of life Mountains were covered Every living substance Face of the whole earth All flesh cut off Flood of waters upon the earth Destroy all flesh All the fountains of the great deep 10
All that was in the dry land Everything that is in the earth Under heaven The face of the ground Noah only remained Every living thing Waters returned continually Two of every sort The face of all the earth Tops of the mountains 3. Foundational to the Gospel Doctrine Creation 33 11
Gospel Creation Genesis 1 everything good X 6 2. Genesis 1 and 2 no sin = no death 3. Genesis 3 = death enters 4. The Whole Creation is under the curse. Romans 8:20-22 = Genesis 3:17-19 Note: Fossil record bare until Genesis 3 Fossil beds occur because of Noah s flood. 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 12
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 1 Cor. 15:
Pew Research Center - June 9, 2009 Scientists - 97% say humans and other living things have evolved over time Public - 32% living things have evolved due to natural processes Scientists - 33% of those surveyed believe in God. If we compromise the immutable Word of God we compromise the power of the cross. Genesis is the book of origins of everything. If we compromise this book as a poetic and not literal form, we are compromising everything that God has said. If Genesis is not taken literally, the message of the cross will be found in the rubble. It is always at her disposal and represents an unlimited power in which she accomplishes her greatest and smallest tasks" from Chicago Field Museum Hall of Life Over Time Jean-Baptiste Lamarck - (1809) 44 Jean-Baptiste Lamarck ( ) Oh how very ancient the earth is! And how ridiculously small the ideas of those who consider the earth to be 6000 years old.. This antiquity will appear even greater when he realizes the length of time and the particular conditions which were necessary to bring all living species into existence
Evolution Predicts 1. Upward Change 2. In long periods of time -millions and millions years
The present population, 6 billion people, could have developed from just a single family 4000 years ago with just 2 1/2 children. If man evolved from apes one million years ago at 2 1/2 children 25,000 generations the resultant population would be people. Problem: There are 3 Trillion people missing!!!! Found in the thigh bone of T. Rex in the Hell Creek formation in South Dakota. Red Blood Cells Soft Tissue Vessels Conclusion: This T. Rex was walking on earth not too long ago. Science From North Carolina State University and Montana University conducted a study on soft tissue found on a T. rexdug out from the Hell Creek formation in Montana. This fossilized bone in the sense that it s from an extinct animal but it doesn t have a lot of characteristics of what people would call a fossil. She admits that discovery certainly shows there microstructures that look like cells are preserved in every way. 17
Dinosaur bones 65 million years ago No Way! Dated with radioactive carbon thousands o years not millions Inconsistent dates Left-over helium Radiohalos Carbon found in ancient diamonds 18

Salt in the Ocean The range of age when input and output considered 32 to 62 million years old Problem: Much lower than the 3 billion year age that are presently stated for oceans to come existence. The results are based on uniform dispersement of salt without the consideration of a catastrophic world-wide flood. A statistical study of oil reservoir pressures shows that even highly over-pressured zones, the pressure dissipates over time. Even conservative calculations indicate that highly over-pressured zones would reach equilibrium with the surrounding area in about 10,000 years. Jill Whitlock, Geologist 20
Influx of Ocean Sediment via River Years Uranium 10, ,000 Sodium 260,000,000 Nickel 9,000 Magnesium 45,000,000 Silicon 8,000 Potassium 11,000,000 Copper 50,000 Gold 560,000 Silver 2,100,000 Lead 2,000 Tin 100,000 Aluminum 100 Carbonate 100,000 Sulphate 10,000,000 Chlorine 164,000,000 Calcium 1,000,000 21
Observation: Presently there are 410 million billion tons of sediment on the floor. The present rate is 27.5 billion tons per year entering the oceans. Long age of the earth = 3 billion years old The calculations assumed that the rate would be the same without including a catastrophic event such as World-wide Flood. All of the helium now in atmosphere would accumulate in a maximum of 2 million years! 22
Halleys Comet will disappear in 10,000 years. It appears every 76 years. Short Period Comets give an average of being 15,000 years old. Evolutionist s to get around this problem created an Oort Cloud n which these comets originate The Problem is no astronomer has ever observed t. The stars in our milky galaxy move a different speeds. Stars rotate slower in the outer bands. Stars rotate faster near the galactic center. The observed rotation speeds are so fast that if our galaxy were more than a few hundred million years old, it would be a featureless disc of stars, not what we see today as a defined spiral. 23
