15 Tarot in the making Tarot has been used for many centuries in gaining a deep insight and understanding of the Spiritual World, the Soul and the Meaning of Life. It is a powerful tool used for guidance and direction, self-realisation, discovering the unconscious living (what we are manifesting and hence creating). Most importantly seeing an overall picture of one s life as it appears now, and becoming aware that we are in fact, in control of our own destiny. Tarot is used as a channel between the Spiritual World and Earth existence in providing valuable messages, for personal growth and healing, confirmation and reinforcing what we already know. Through Tarot we discover that direct future events are a result of our own manifestation, and enable one to become Master of our own Destiny. Tarot helps/enable one to make the appropriate choices, decisions and action to make positive changes in their lives. My deep passion for Tarot became one of the powerful Holistic modalities used in my Private Practice, to restoring health, harmony, inner peace, confidence and balance within an individual. To allow the individual to take control of their life; to become Master of their own destiny. I was deeply humbled when I was told at the time of membership with Psychic Association that I was one of the Top Leading 5 Star Psychics in Australia ( In completing my studies at Visionary Spiritual College years ago, I was awarded the Grand Championship Student Award for the Outstanding Achievement of Visionary Tarot College, and the Student of the Class for the Outstanding Achievement of Tarot Studies, amongst other things. 15

16 My deep involvement, devotion and passion for tarot, and strong Guidance gave rise over the years to design my own tarot deck thus Tarot in the Making. We will always be advancing our skills in areas that interest us and give rise to awakenings...it is what we call Evolution of the Soul... The visual representation of any card, either tarot or oracle, will speak to you directly. We are always guided to the cards that best resonate with us, and hold the images and symbols that will offer us the Most Highest form of Guidance and information that we need at the time on our Journey to evolving and also in guiding others. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards. They are Universal Messengers from the Higher Realms that directly speak to us and alone hold very powerful messages for us for our journey. Put together as a sequence it is a story of a soul who upon his (or her) journey on earth, sets out on a path to discovering who they are, meeting certain souls along the way to help them along this path of awakening. The Minor Arcana consists of a set of four suits and within each suit comprises of 10 cards. Each suit relate to our everyday life situations, being emotional (water, or heart), physical (wand, fire or club), materialistically (pentacle, coin, earth or diamonds) or thought (sword, air or spade). The court cards comprises of four complementary four suits of 4 cards in each suit. They usually represent the people of our past, present, future. As well they hold important keys to enlightenment. They can also represent a situation or characteristic quality. 16

17 Looking after your cards: Shuffle your own cards and cleanse them with incense relate with them send your own energies into them..become familiar with them. Best you only handle the cards other then the client. Look after them. Need the vibration of the energies sent into the cards to be safe by wrapping in a soft material such as a scarf or cloth, or put somewhere where they are not damaged or thrown around. You can place them around anywhere you wish as long as they are highly respected and also kept protected from any elements that may damage them in any way. You can also if wish keep them in a wooden box or a very special box that you love. The purpose of the cards being protected, is that since they are being infused with your love and energies, you are then better able to relate and bond to them than cards that have no significance or meaning to you. 17

19 Layout of the cards for Guidance and readings... Instructions on how to use the tarot cards: There are various methods of using Tarot cards. It is important though that you use a method that resonates best with you. Let your guidance show you. However for the purpose of this book and in helping those who are starting out and need some guidance, here are some very simple yet very powerful and effective methods that I have used over the years, to bring you clarity, insight, guidance, understanding and awareness. 1. Shuffle the cards and think of a question. If you have more than one question you can do it for each question. Or you can simply ask an open question such as What is it that I need to know today about the situation/this week/this month?... The card you pick will reveal very important messages. If however you wish for greater clarity you can pick more cards. Throughout the day look at the card/s so keep it in a sacred place that you are able to look at it. Ensure those who wish to give you their interpretation behind the meaning of the card, are encouraging and helpful. It is important to filter that which does not resonate with you. Before going to bed look at it and then reflect upon it. I leave cards lying around for the energies to permeate throughout the home. It is amazing what messages come through when I look at them throughout the day. Sometimes I will leave oracle and tarot cards one of many 19

20 guided divinations, everywhere and each has its own specific message and yet together tell an amazing story. To this day it amazes me how the universe communicates with us. Universe continuously converses with us. It is up to us to let Universe in to our hearts and trust that the process of how life unfolds will only serve us best in the long run. Trust is such a powerfull tool. 2. Pick two cards and place them one on the left being the past, and on the right the card that represents the future... this layout gives you an overview of what has happened in the past and what is yet to come in the future. However you can use the layout past, present being the middle card and future. In this layout you also are made aware of what is happening at the present time or what is to be done at the present time depending on what your question is. This method is amazing if you want a quick reference of where you were in the past, where you are now and where you are heading in the future. It also gives you an overall view of past events that may still be having an effect on the present and thus, on the future, and what you can still work on to resolve, heal or understand. 20

21 3. The Celtic Cross Spread Summary overview: Position One: Where the person is at this present moment, in the NOW. Position Two: What the future outcome holds for the person. In depth reading: Position Three: The Question the person asked, mental attitude to the situation (what the person is thinking), what is about to enter into the person s life. This is the person s opportunity to change their perception of something or to change their focus to something far more encouraging and positive if it is not. An opportunity to manage their way of thinking to make their life more harmonious thought wise. What you think you manifest depends on the amount of focussed energy you put into it. Position Four: What the person is manifesting, How the person is feeling about the situation. The Position Four is connected to Position 9. This is where they can become aware of what lays deep within on an emotional level and decide if there needs to be anything released and/or dealt with. The law of attraction (the manifesting process thus) is based on both 21

22 feeling and thoughts. Position 4 with 9 allows the opportunity to see clearly what you feel about something or someone in question, and solutions are available if necessary. It also helps to be aware of health issues as what you have not dealt with, the body can react by presenting itself with body symptoms. This is a very important position to take note of. Position Five: Reveals anything from the past that may not yet been resolved, or acts as a Reflection Process. Position Six: The immediate Outcome often occurring within a time frame of 4 weeks from the time when the card/s are read. Position Nine: Hopes, dreams and Fears of the person and connected to Position 4 of what the person manifests NOW. What the person wants and desires or what their greatest fears are. The Future Cards Position Seven: What a person can expect in the near future This position refers to the immediate future. (Often occurs in the first 1-4 months from the time of the cards been read). Position Eight: The place or home front where they spend most of the time. What the person can expect in the near future. It can also reveal a lot of information on what is currently happening and what can be done to bring greater harmony and peace in those areas. 22

24 Dream Method: For Meditation simply hold the Card. Note you could carry the Card that you wish to work with or hold onto it where ever you wish to go. Another amazing method to use when wishing to understand, gain clarity, or seeking for an answer, especially when you have not been able to see clearly the signs or messages throughout certain period of time, is to pick a card either a random card or a specific card that draws you regarding a particular situation or wish you desire, and place it under the pillow. Make aware of and note your dreams in the coming days and there will be an answer revealed for there will be messages within the dream that will help guide you, or give you answers to your questions. Dreams play an amazing role. In a deep restful period you are without ego. (eg. Fear, analytical) Usually you will find the signs presented to you become very repetitive and stronger each time. They hold Answers. Also take note of signs presented to you throughout a certain period of time thereafter the method has been applied. 24

26 Auras The Human Aura is a field of energy and is interrelated to the charkas. For each chakra there is an associated colour that is reflected around your Aura field, and they hold key messages and meanings about your well being and emotions. The human Aura consists of seven distinct layers. Each layer of the Auric body has designated its own chakra and thus colour. - The Physical Auric body is Base Charka Aura and this is associated to the colour red - Etheric = Sacral Chakra =orange - Vital = Solar Plexus Chakra =yellow - Astral or Emotional Aura = Heart Chakra =green or pink - Lower Mental = Throat Chakra =light blue - Higher Mental = Brow Chakra =indigo or purple - Spiritual =Crown Charka = white or gold or purple There is a saying that states how you feel on the inside is portrayed on the outside. 26

27 Meaning of colors: Red: associated with, faith and strong emotional feelings such as passion, anger, and strength/vitality. Application of the colour brings forth Initiation of Activity and Clarity of purpose. Over use of the colour could lead to frustrations, anger, and depletion. Orange: denotes activity, and is the symbol of positive change. It also relates to pregnancy and growth. Application of the colour promotes Strength, Balance, a sense of well-being, harmony and Healing of the Spiritual Mental and Emotional Elements in Unisom, as well confidence and contentment about ourselves. Yellow: is to do with intellect, joy and creativity. The application of the colour leads to a feeling of rebirth, hope and feelings of new beginnings. Gold: is to do with wealth, prosperity, as well protection. The application of the colour leads to Spiritual clarity and a Higher sense of purpose. Green: is the colour of balance and healing. (Thus positive direction in life). It is also the colour for Love and Abundance. Application of this colour leads to change. Awakenings, and the Refreshment of the body and Soul. Indigo: Relates to intuition, spirituality, clarity, leadership and wisdom. Violet/Purple: Higher self and decision making. It is the colour of Royalty and Nobility, Spirituality, Transmutation, Transformation, and changes regarding habits, thoughts and 27

28 patterns that no longer serve us. Application of the colour cleanses the Soul on a phenomenal level and helps one rediscover and inspired to walk on their chosen path. White: purity and innocence, Higher self and clarity. Connection with self and the Universe. Truth and wisdom. Application of this colour leads to purification and protection, and gaining a sense of Wholeness. Use Wisely for this is a Very Powerful Colour. It is the Unisom of all the frequencies of all colours. Black: is an ambiguous colour. It can be protection and rest, Mystery, Universe, OR trauma, serious disease or injury, abuse and drugs (prescribed or other which can leave holes or gaps in the aura). Application of the colour present protection from elements that are not for the highest good, thus acts as a barrier. Application of the colour creates possibilities in its infinite form and the realisation of great manifesting possibilities through possible changes and growth. Blue: contentment, harmony, peace and calmness. Application of this colour has become the most powerful healing frequency of the 21 st Century. Pink: maternal, love, baby, unconditional love. Grey: indicates health factors. In combination with other colours will reveal the nature of the health. With yellow it means healthy, with orange it means improving, with red it reflects strength and with green healing is required or is occurring. With indigo be wise with how you look after yourself health wise, with violet a decision is required, with white wholesome and with black you are not well or require rest or removal of blockages. With blue contentment is required, and with pink love is required to nurture and heal yourself on a greater level. 28

29 Tarot and Counselling Skills: - leave your ego and fear behind when performing a reading. You are there to be completely neutral and with no thought of judgment. - trust you intuition - get self healing if you have unresolved personal issues so that they do not interfere with the reading - confidentiality is so vital - make no assumptions - do not force your opinions or belief on others. Simply offer and allow others to make own decisions - listen but do not pass on judgment - be objective - understand, be compassionate and empathetic - supportive and caring qualities are essential however, take care you are not saving the person. You are there to guide not learn their lessons or constantly be relaying the same messages if the person seeking guidance is not prepared to initiate effort to apply what is guided to them. - have brochures and other network contacts if they need counselling or help outside the readings - be open minded and optimistic - trust 29

30 - Do not tell someone what to do, give them direction by what the tarot cards reveal and offer guidance not advice. The tone of our language can reveal a lot about what you wish to relay to someone - Self worth important and be confident - Debriefing - Set physical boundaries - Clarify the reading is as it appears now and they have the willpower to make changes where they feel fit for them. This gives them the freedom to make their own decisions and the free will to make changes that are necessary to live a far more loving and harmonious life if that is what they desire. - We can offer guided and professional suggestions on how someone needing guidance can live a far more promising life. It is up to them though how they use that guidance and knowledge gained. 30

33 One is a vibration that creates an outgoing energy (The Sun) thus an idea has been formed. Without the idea the outgoing energy cannot occur. One is about power, new energy, new beginnings and births, leadership, individuality, independence, whole. Two harmonises the energy of one thus balancing it. This creates an ingoing energy (The Moon). Two is about balance, harmony and an idea (one) becoming reality (two), decisions, choice, inner level, reflection, partnerships, relationships, cooperation. Three is an active masculine outgoing energy. It is as a result of combination of one and two energies. Three represents creation of growth and success, creativity, planning, foundations, joy, celebrations, social. Four is the energy of restrictions, planning, rules and regulations. To stabilise the three energy means rest before the next phase. Four represents stability, practicality and structure, rest, solidity, consolidation, hardworking, reliable, foundations. 33

34 Five is the need to break free from restrictions of the four vibration. Its temporary aims is to move stagnated energy again. Five creates energy that responds to change of creations in the physical form. Five symbolises necessary yet positive change, breakthrough, chaos, pain, struggles, conflict difficulties, disruption, construction, freedom, versatile, multitalented. Six brings relief and harmony again. This energy is a creation of emotional form. Six is the energy of love, contentment, family, success, creativity, love of nature and people, expansion, gains, triumphs, positive, responsibility, loving, caring, unconditional love. Seven turns to self inner reflection, going inward for soul searching, a connection to the inner World. This results in facing realities of wellbeing, and could lead to feelings of loneliness, reflection, introspection. Emotions could also surface such as confusion and fear. However this paves the way for change and thus progress. Seven is about retreating within to find reason for existence of self, reflection, withdrawal, seclusion, inner work, do not give up!, spirituality, wisdom, fulfilment by inner reflection, meditation, quiet time. Eight is the energy that brings about inner truth and expansion of awareness, hence clarity. 34

35 Eight represents success, progress, material and financial gain, spiritual truth to physical form, change, letting go of the past, inner strength, courage, movement, money, material and spiritual balance, achievement, financial balance, creative energy, motivation. Nine is the variational energy of reassessment, purification and the preparation of completion of a cycle. It is connected to learning and inspiration. Nine is about a time to slow down, a time to strive for perfection, nearing a completion, security, satisfaction, fulfilment, re-assessment, humanitarian, selfless service, boundaries, releasing old energies/persons/habits/beliefs/ circumstances or situations that no longer serve you. Ten is the energy of full force forward to the completion of the cycle before a new beginning occurs. Ten is about completion, renewal, transformation, sum total, success, moving into a new cycle. 35

49 How do Tarot Cards work? - The Universal Law states that there is no coincidence. Everything operates in Divine Timing ( Perfect order ). - Events and occurrences directly linked with cause and effect. Effect is a result of individual s own manifestations. What influence does Tarot Cards have on one s life? - Tarot Cards assist clients in becoming aware of the manifestations they have created in their life. - Guide a client to become aware that they are in fact Master of their own destiny. - To see an overall picture of their life as it appears now, and free will to make changes/appropriate choices that do or do not serve their Highest Self. - Nothing remains constant. Things can and do change. - Provide confirmation/assists in reinforcing what one already feel and know. - Provide Self-realization, Guidance and Direction. How do we handle a painful situation? - We are all unique, and hence, deal with traumas, fear, difficulties, pain in our own ways. 49

A journey that can be quite difficult process for many, full of challenges and setbacks and sorrow. There are stages of grief one must be faced with in order to heal, grow and move forward. 58 - Self worth important and be confident - Debriefing - Set physical boundaries Questioning: In my sessions I do not ask questions unless necessary for clarity, such as with the use of court cards. I also allow the client to ask questions for a deeper meaning of, clarity and guidance by focusing on specific questions. Often then not I do a full reading and I find the majority feel all questions are answered. This has helped me see from personal experiences that God knows in advance their concerns, and what they need to do to improve in their lives. Knowledge of the Tarot: It is important to have at least a basic knowledge of tarot. For by being confident in the deck used, you are less likely to project confusing fearful energies to the seeker. We are constantly soul evolving, and I have found in teaching tarot, I am learning so much from my students as they are from me. The knowledge of tarot helps my own continuous personal and spiritual growth and journey. The visual representation of tarot gives the seeker a calming effect as they can see clearly their journey as a whole picture, as it appears Now. It is important to be able to have a good 58

59 knowledge/understanding hence of the tarot deck used to be able to help explain to seekers selected cards and their interpretations of them. When we fear the unknown, we yearn to hear words for comfort and reassurance for strength. When we have a deep understanding of tarot our confidence, our energy of trust is picked up by the seeker. It is our love and trust that comforts and assures them not our fears and doubts. Thus it also helps us to continue on our own personal growth and healing. Intuition: I honour and pay attention to my own intuition. I have great faith in my inner wisdom. When I do the energies are then sent to the client who picks them up, gaining hence clarity and trust in the Universe and process of life. I have also observed in my session with clients that where there is confusion I clarify that it has not yet happened, in which case they can change the direction of the outcome of the energies if they wish.if they are not happy with the outcome as it appears in the now. It could be their confusion is based on that they are so focused or fixated on what they wish the answer to be that they missed the whole outlay of the reading, which then raises questions and confusion. When I see this I calmly tell them that the question has been answered but they have been so focused on having it answered in a certain way that they missed on what was said. I tell them of stories that act as analogis that 59

60 give an overall summary of the session or reading so that they can at least walk away with remembering some of the key elements of the session. If they have taped the session/or I have, or ed/written the reading or session, I ask that they in time hear the tape or re read the reading. They become surprised that often messages that were overlooked are noted. Trust your inner wisdom and intuition. Such faith helps the seeker feel some form of calmness. Like the High Priestess in the major arcana, Listen to your inner wisdom. Connect to spiritualism. Be aware that when you follow your intuition everything flows easily, synchronises. Listen and see the signs when following your intuition. Look deep within rather than just the black and white of a situation. Your intuition guides you when you are unable to see the whole picture at this point of time. Most importantly it is not for you to understand their journey or try to make sense of it. SO many times it may not make sense but analysing it to make sense to you will only interfere with their interpretation and hence their process. Trust is the key to readings. Self-protection: Sample of Self protection in terms of legal you could state to the client the following: I will be conducting a reading for you today which will grant us messages from your higher self-ultimately to guide you towards love, success, health and happiness in this lifetimewhich is all of your birthright to experience. I want you to understand that I am appearing as a guide only in your life- and that you can operate within your free will to make your own choices for this lifetime. The tarot spread is for you to see an overall picture of your life as it appears now, and with free will may wish to make appropriate choices and actions that do 60

61 or don t serve your highest interests. Know that there is no coincidence according to the Universal law, and that everything operates in perfect order. Confidentiality will not be breached and is sacred, unless I feel there is a need otherwise such as when I am aware or informed that you are causing harm to yourself or others. Do you understand? Protection in other forms: - Ground self often after sessions as you can pick up their energies that may not be positive. - Psychic protection - protect self by using purple light - cleanse with water and crystals - cleansing with white light - a balance of energy/placing energy back into soul must occur otherwise, depletion, depression and illness will occur, hence the importance of self healing, psychic protection and nourishing hence How would you handle a client who wishes to have a Tarot reading, but does not wish to communicate with you and shows hostility towards the Tarot process? It is important to note that the emotions or attitude of the client may more likely be as a result of fears established. If they become upset/ frightened, reassure them that all is well it s all going to be ok. Often when we fear of the unknown we just need comforting words of reassurance. 61

62 However it is important you show strength and firmness, in a gentle way without putting up or creating barriers that can cause them to become defensive/attack back. In a gentle way you are to ask what is their reason for being here at the reading and if they are still acting in this way, affirm with them that you are here to guide them in hope that you will be able to give them clarity. If they are not ready that it is best to leave it till they are ready. For such a tool is but one modality used to help them find direction and clarity. I would explain that there are other modalities that they can use that they feel more comfortable with. And I would mention a few. So it is important you tell them that you are here to help not hurt them and if they continue to show such hostility, and not co-operate kindly ask them to leave. If however they become aggressive it is important that the incident is then reported as they could be like that to others. If someone is present to get help to have them escorted out in the end we draw into our lives experiences we need to learn lessons from or parts of our self we need to look at, or are a result of karmic lessons that may stem from past lifetimes, or simply that it is. Some people are difficult to help so just give suggestions and let them make the choice to decide if they wish to help themselves. If they become not cooperative know that students will only learn when they are ready. So ensure you invest not too much energy where you know it is not helping either of you. Utilize your energy wisely.. If such a situation was to arise in my own personal work, I would understand their fears, but aware that they coming to me they are in need of direction in life. I would calmly break the 62

63 ice by telling them briefly of my own experience with tarot where I followed my own guidance, or told a true story to help ease their fears. In my own personal life a long long time ago, where I needed more direction, I had no one to turn to, and people back in those days thought tarot was a taboo not a positive tool to use. I also was so afraid to use taro until a beautiful soul introduced them to me wanting only to help me, and I have not looked back since. It has brought such peace into both my own life and the lives of so many others I have guided using tarot. I was so sceptical to it once upon a time and afraid of them because I did not understand. What I do in a reading session where someone has alot of fear or not sure if it is right, I would for example pick 3 cards and do a 3 spread reading. They are there because they are giving me permission to do a reading. Otherwise they would not be there in the first place. I them coming out of their shell and having their barriers down. Again it will also help me look at myself and ask why I have drawn such an experience into my life, whilst being very empathetic and considerate of their feelings. It is important though that one does not then fall into the trap of it becoming a sympathetic session. You are there to help them. If for the sake of this question let s say they get very upset and do not wish to have a reading done, then my major concern will be why they are at the session in the first place? I will kindly, with compassion yet firmly without showing any fear, direct them to leave if they do not wish to have one done, without trying to make sense why they booked for one. It is important not to show they are causing you fear and made to feel threatened. When one does not display such energies the success of the outcome is more positive. And rewarding. 63

64 How to handle a session where the client appears not to hear what you re saying and keeps asking if everything will be all right. You re already overtime and the client continues to sit there talking seeking reassurance if their life will improve. If they become upset/ frightened, reassure them that all is well it s all going to be ok. That you are acknowledging that their concerns have caused much worry and grief due to their fears. Often the fear of the unknown can cause anxiety and we all understand we just need comforting words of reassurance. I would find ways to help the. Eg. Show them the tower card and have them briefly understand that there is merely a reconstructing of the foundation. Then I would show eg. the 10 of Cups. It will give them a visual representation. When you begin to pick cards or show soothing cards, the subconscious begins to remember the truth that things always find a way of working out no matter what. For some reason the brain clicks and recalls many instances of when things do work out. Like the Sun no matter what will always shine, even through clouds. When a seeker changes the ideas/thoughts/feelings, it will result in another outcome. In helping them Divert to something about them to help them focus on something positive that they can look forward to. I often remind them to either listen to the tape or re read the words of the reading. When so much has been discussed in the session and with so much information it is important that they take time to reflect and often there are messages that have been overlooked when overwhelmed. Hence, we are not able to hear the messages during the reading when in deep duress or sadness. 64

65 If for some unknown reason they still are persistent and ignorant, then kindly remind them that the session is way over the time, and that in fairness to others who are still waiting for their session, you need to complete the session, and to please re read or listen to the reading days later. This reminder gives them the clarity that they are able to go back to the reading any time they want. If however there is no taped of the reading, do advice them at the beginning of a reading to either record it or make notes. However, this may require you to spend extra time, although also ensuring they are not focused on note taking that they miss the point of the reading. In such situations a very powerful tool to use is summarising with analogies in the form of stories that they can remember. Make sure you are not made to feel guilty or fall into their emotional blackmail for having to end the session for good reasons. What to do if a Tarot reading shows that the client is in a destructive relationship. Laying out the individual s life is in the now. Nothing remains constant. However, clients are in control of their own lives. They and only they can make the choices to change things, and they are responsible for their own lives. Hence, although in certain cases we cannot/unable to turn a blind eye, as tarot consultants we do have the gift to encourage healing, hence self-love and self-respect and they have a free will hence CAN choose what serves them best. As NON-judgmental Practitioners nothing is coincidence. We cannot assume it is karma or past life, and we cannot advice that they should (or could not) leave the relationship, but that 65

66 they become aware of their feelings, what lessons there may be to learn, depending on what the cards show; self awareness, and personal /spiritual growth they need to make, amongst a variety of ways that you are able to guide them depending on your level of qualifications. We cannot advice, but we can guide them to healing, and knowing that they have the power to control and make changes in their lives. We can allow them to look into the issues of if you leave (not you should leave) by looking at the cards in a manner of precautions and structures to protect and assist, not labelling, placing fear and doubt. At such delicate situations it is important to be compassionate yet non-judgmental (NOT taking client s side) (NOTE: advise as per cards any pitfalls, helpful or dangerous (potential) circumstances surrounding the evaluation ). 66
