TRI-CITIES WORKCAMP SUNDAY July 30, 2017 10:30 a.m. Ou r Mission: Gro wing in Sp irit Living as D isciple s Se rving God s World Preparation for Worship Spirit of Wisdom, in whose presence is peace, inspire us in this moment, that we may turn our minds from cleverness to kindliness; inhabit our hearts that we may embrace mercy; and inflame our spiritis with the love of peace, so that, wise in mind and heart and spirit, we may sow the seeds of peace and reap a harvest of justice. Amen. Welcome and Announcements We Gather in God s Name Passing of the Peace Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Prelude Praise to the Lord Diemer Ray Freeman, Organist

2 Call to Worship One: In your wisdom, God, you call us here to worship you. All: We gather, alive to the Word of God. One: You call us to be fully alive with your life abundant, ready to listen and respond, with heart, soul, strength, and mind. All: We listen, alive to the Word of God. One: You call us to be always watchful for your Word of wisdom, sometimes start-ling and unexpected, sometimes still and quiet, but always dwelling among us. All: We watch, and wait for the Word of God. Hymn #664 Morning Has Broken Prayer of Confession One: The proof of God s amazing care is this: while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. Let us confess our sins before God and one another. All: God of love, in the wrong we have done and in the good we have not done, we have sinned in ignorance; we have sinned in weakness; we have sinned through our own deliberate fault. We are truly sorry. We repent and turn to you. Forgive us and renew our lives through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: People: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven. Thanks be to God. We Proclaim God s Word Anthem Steal Away (#358) Summer Choir Children s Message Savannah Gold Children ages 3 & 4 are invited to Play n Worship in Room 13. EVENTS AT GRACE Sunday Morning Conversations - This was the last Sunday for stimulating conversations on the topics you selected. We ll break until September, when we ll kick off a series on Reforming the Church in the Past and Present. Stay tuned! A Grace Disguised - Begins Wednesday, August 2, 10:00 a.m. - Sometimes we need to journey through the depths of sorrow, whether due to illness, divorce, job loss, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings. Join us this week in the Library, and for the remaining two classes on July 9 and July 16. Contact Yvette, aging@gracepresby.org. An End-of-Summer Tradition! Let s Go See Nats vs. Mets - Sunday, August 27. We have reserved seats in the shade, Section 305, accessible by elevator and escalator, with a great view of the field and concessions nearby. Tickets are $30. The bus will depart after worship. Sign up on the poster in the Narthex. For information, contact John Sowdon (703-680-3101) or Pastor Susan, susan@gracepresby.org. FINANCE UPDATE As of the end of June, our Offerings from members have fallen to $21,300 below budgeted projections. Last year at this time, Offerings were only $800 under budget. Fortunately, due to delays in some planned spending, we ended the month with a small ($9,600) excess. However, without improvement in our Offering income, we may have to curtail some planned spending for the remainder of the year. Member statements will be issued in August showing contributions as of July 30th. If you are behind in your planned giving or had intended to wait until later in the year to make your pledge payments, please consider our current situation. Thanks.
