FAZtor s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora This Saturday is the last day of our Religious Education program. We will resume classes sometime in September. They will end the year with a May Crowning of the Blessed Mother Mary at Our Lady s Grotto. The taste of an ending can either be bitter or sweet. An end can mean failure, like when you say You re done, you are finished. Remember the difference between complete and finished? They say that when you marry the right person, you are complete. But when you marry the wrong person, you are finished. So, a finish, an ending, used in this way is a failure. On the other hand, a finish or an ending can also mean an accomplishment, a success. When the dying Christ on the cross spoke his last words: It is finished, He was also saying it is accomplished! The end or finish on the cross was a victory. Our Religious Education Program, or CCD as we used to call it, ends with a success. We have volunteer catechists who are dedicated to teaching the Catholic faith and Christian values in life to our children. And with the supervision and leadership of Sr. Necy, one can be sure that it will end with great success. Unfortunately, this Saturday is also Sr. Necy s last day with our Religious Education Program as she finishes her ministry at Holy Name. As some of you already know, Sr. Necy who had been with us for the past three years had been given a new assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Surely, she finishes her ministry here in our parish with great success and laudable accomplishments. I ll say my initial thank you to her, because the expression of gratitude to her may take a long time considering the many things she has done for us. I just finished my Marian pilgrimage last week. Of course, it was a great success spiritually and a big accomplishment financially. My spiritual journey was able to generate a $9000 donation to the Church that will go towards to the procurement of new wine cups for our mass and liturgical banners for our church. I told the Parish Pastoral Council members at our meeting last Tuesday that my trip was not a vacation but it was work and every day throughout the duration of the pilgrimage you and the whole parish were always in my prayers and mass intentions. Congratulations to our new 4 th Grade teacher, Ryan Juan, who is getting married this weekend at our Church. It is the finish or end of his years as being single. After a search for the right person, he is now complete. During the reception following the wedding Mass, the disc jockey polled the guests to see who had been married longest. There was a couple who had been married 55 years. The DJ asked, What advice would you give to the newly married couple? The woman said, The three most important words in a marriage are, You re probably right. Everyone looked at the husband, who said immediately, She s probably right. IN HONOR OF THE MONTH OF OUR LADY (MAY) JOIN US FOR THE RECITATION OF THE ROSARY EVERY EVENING AT 6:30 PM in the CHAPEL CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN Today s Second Collection is for the collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign (CCC). The CCC supports projects as diverse as television, radio, social media, podcasts, and print media to more effectively use technology and media in spreading the gospel message. Through grants funded by the CCC, more people are hearing about and joining together in faith, worship, and witness. The Catholic Communication Campaign helps us to grow in faith, worship, and witness. Thank you for your generous support. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL Next Sunday will be the second 5 TH Sunday in 2016. Today s readings for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth of our human travels. The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the reading from Proverbs. God s plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today s Gospel, Jesus speaks of his own personal journey. He has come from the Father and will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate the Spirit of Truth take us onward. This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, [W]e even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope (Romans 5:3-4). Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity a family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to emulate. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Each title stands in relationship to all the baptized, serving the community, helping it to be the Body of Christ. In our deepest tradition, each of these ordained ministries is attuned to help us become our best selves, to hunger and thirst for the coming of God s kingdom. The goal for each one of us is to be able to recognize the presence of Christ in worship and in service. Although only some of us are ordained to ministry, each of us is called to ministry. Rev.
