A Parish Mission is a MUST. Why? Because nothing less than miracles can happen! Miracles of the heart! A mission by the two deacons draws the whole parish together. It recharges the congregation. Everyone takes time for the truly important things like wonder, mystery and prayer. People reconcile. Faith is awakened. Vocations are discovered. Families are healed. Lives are forever changed. The parish discovers afresh its ultimate calling and meaning. THE TEAM Deacon Eddie Ensley and Deacon Robert Hermann are both nationally known authors and retreat leaders. They have over thirty years experience leading parish mission, retreats and conferences. Passionately overwhelming audiences with their talks, they teach the same way Jesus taught the crowds, by telling stories and parables. Infectious wit, down-toearth insights and truly holy inspiration are the hallmarks of their message. Their gentle words help the heaven and earth together, helping the divine connect with our everyday living. Many pastors and parish leaders say the team s missions attracted the largest crown they ever had for a mission. We want you to continue your good health practices so call Mary at 336-3227. FOOD COLLECTION FOR FEBRUARY Items needed for the month of February are: Cereal, Tuna Fish, Canned Chili, Peanut Butter, Coffee/Tea, Boxed Potatoes and Spinach. GIFT SHOP NEWS If you didn t see the Red Cloud DVD that was shown at the Christmas party, go to the Red Cloud website: www.redcloudschools.org. There is a film about the school (directed by Fr. Jeremy Zipple, S. J. who is the nephew of our deceased parishioner, Matt Zipple). A second film from the ABC show, 20/20 entitled Children of the Plains describes and explains the conditions on the Pine Ride Reservation. It is a very moving film and worthy of your time. Last year the gift shop received requests for crosses that had a cloth draped over the bars of the cross. We were unable to find a supplier then. However, we have now found a company that sells those crosses called, shrouded or empty crosses. We will be placing an order soon so please let us know if you are still interested. MUSIC NOTES By Kevin Jakubowicz Thank you for your attention before Mass during the last few weeks as we learn our new Mass Propers. The Mass of the Resurrection Mass music is found in the hymnal at the following numbers: 219 Holy, 221 When We Eat This Bread, 223 -Amen, 224- Lamb of God. Implementation of these Mass Propers will begin the weekend of February 11th and 12th. Feel free to reference the music during the Eucharist. It won t be long before you will have it committed to memory. SCHOOL BELLS St. Sebastian Daddy s Darlings Valentine Ball: Friday, February 10th at Fr. O Kelly s Banquet Hall. Page 4 ONE STORY OF FR. KERNER S IMPACT ON CHILDREN This past Saturday, we attended 4 PM Mass with our grandson, Clark, a 4th grader. Fr. Kerner spoke about the first confessions he heard of second graders. Our grandson, Clark, a 4th grader, had been through his first confessions 2 years ago, in Milan MI. He really paid attention to all that Fr. Kerner said and when we were leaving Church, he said to me, You know, Busia, I wish I could make Fr. Kerner a hologram, so that every time I went to Mass, he would be the priest no matter where I was. Written and sent to Fr. Kerner by parishioner Arleen Zalewski. Thank you Arleen!
