Karls and he speaks to us about the Food For The Poor Ministry. This ministry supplies food for hundreds of thousands people primarily throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. With their severe weather of hurricanes, your help is truly needed. We thank you for your support. Monies may be submitted this weekend as well as next weekend.

3 Page 3 PARISH NEWS JPII GIFT AND BOOK SHOP NEWS By Pat Urban & Barb Cataldo During the time of Thanksgiving, we would like to extend a special thanks to our volunteers and customers. We view this work as a ministry that provides sacramental and information to help us all grow in relationship to God and others. We thank God for the opportunity to serve, learn and grow. We invite you and your friends to visit the shop this Advent and Christmas season for cards, gifts, books, and some friendly conversation. In addition to our regular hours before and after weekend Masses, we will be open on Tuesday between 11:30 AM 6:30 PM. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! GUIDE BOOK AND DIRECTORY We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the church. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call our Church Office. Here is a chance to update YOUR record for our annual Guide Book. Please let us know any changes, additions or deletions that may have occurred in your family over the past year. Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they included in your membership record? Do you want your record published? If you have not already informed us about changes to your record, please let us know ASAP so that the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. ADVENT WREATH LIGHTER NEEDED If you as an individual, couple or family are interested in lighting the candles for our parish Advent wreath, please complete the coupon below and return it in the collection basket at church. We will call you to schedule a weekend Mass for your participation in the time honored tradition. Lighting of the Advent Wreath takes place at all weekend Masses, beginning Saturday, December 3rd to Sunday, December 24th. Name Phone Number Mass Preference: 4 PM Saturday 9 AM Sunday 11 AM Sunday FAITH FORMATION Classes resume this Monday, November 27th, for our students preparing for Reconciliation and Confirmation and this coming Saturday, December 2nd for our Faith Formation Program students from 4 year olds to 8th graders. Please be sure that your students are participating in the celebration of the Mass prior to class and that they have remembered to bring their books and folders to each class. This year s Giving Trees are located in the church sanctuary and Resurrection Hall. Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Vista Maria and St. Patrick s Senior Center, are very grateful that they are once again the recipients of our parish s generous and caring outreach. Please remember that items are to be unwrapped this year at the request of our recipients. Food donations can be checks, cash, or gift cards from Meijer s or Kroger s. All items must be returned to the parish office by Sunday, December 17th. Christmas cards, both religious and secular, can be signed at home or before and after all Masses in the Resurrection Hall. These cards will be delivered to the Veterans Hospital of Detroit. Please help us to bring some Christmas spirit to those who have given so much for our country. (P.S. Our goal is to pass last year s collection of 502 cards) Can you help? Schulte Assembly of the 4th degree is sponsoring Wreaths Across America that will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery on Saturday, December 16th. You can help by purchasing a wreath for $15 that will be placed on the grave of the one of many service men and women that are buried at St. Hedwig. For how to help please call Bob at ADOPT A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS You can relieve some of the financial burdens for needy families throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit and make their Christmas a little brighter through the CCSEM Adopt a Family for Christmas program. Nominated by Catholic parishes throughout the Archdiocese, these families are in need of help with basic necessities like food, rent, utilities and medical care. Go to ccsem.org/adoptafamily to see the list of families and donated online, or mail a check to the address below. Make checks payable to CCSEM with Adopt a Family in the memo line.
