The Most Holy Trinity June 3, 2012 We are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Romans 8:16 17 THE MYSTERY OF THE BLESSED TRINITY Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Church sets aside this Sunday to focus our attention on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, God who is one, but three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy emphasizes both God s awesome greatness and amazing nearness. It might seem beyond belief, but the God of all creation speaks to us, protects us, and guides us. The second reading from Saint Paul s Letter to the Romans describes how we are to relate to the three persons who are one God. We are led by the Spirit to meet God the Father as adopted children. Our adoption is such that we are even heirs with our brother, Christ, the second person of the Trinity, in whose sufferings we must also share. In Matthew s Gospel, Jesus speaks with his authority as God and sends us to teach and baptize in the name of the Trinity. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. TODAY S READINGS First Reading Ask now of the days of old: Did anything so great ever happen before? Was it ever heard of? (Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40). Psalm Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own (Psalm 33). Second Reading You received a Spirit of adoption through whom we cry, Abba, Father! (Romans 8:14-17). Gospel I am with you always, until the end of the age (Matthew 28:16-20). FAZtor s Notes by Fr. Arnold Zamora Another month has gone by. Whoosh! Congratulations to our graduates from Kindergarten, 8 th grade, high school, college or in any academic pursuit. We also have just graduated from Easter last week. Pentecost our graduation and we were awarded with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. And we are now back to Ordinary Time of our Church Liturgical Year. As we continue our Christian journey, let us remember the gifts of Easter and to live an extraordinary life in this ordinary time of the year. So listen to this, think and remember! There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, If I could only see the world, I will marry you. One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, Now that you can see the world, will you marry me? The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: Take good care of your eyes, my dear; for before they were yours, they were mine. This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Life Is a Gift! Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you complain about your children -Think of someone who desires children but they're barren. Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank GOD you're alive and still around. God Bless You. ACE COLLECTION Today s Second Collection is the ACE Collection for the benefit of our Parish School. Your generosity is always appreciated. Here are some tips and ideas to prepare for and get the most out of your upcoming professional Lifetouch photography session. Allow for about an hour to: Check in Be photographed View your electronic portrait images and select your directory pose Purchase products Remember that you can purchase portrait products at your session. Portraits make wonderful gifts and treasured family keepsakes. If you choose to purchase additional portraits, we accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. Grooming Make sure nails are trimmed and clean. Simple hairstyles and natural makeup are best. Avoid haircuts within 48 hours of your portrait sitting. Ideally, haircuts should happen 2 weeks prior. Have any hair and makeup supplies available for quick touch-ups. Clothing Solid colors or simple patterns look best. Busy patterns on clothing are distracting. Medium to dark shades create a timeless look & are slenderizing. Small jewelry/accessories compliment your face better. Avoid large, distracting accessories. Make sure your shoes match your outfit. They might show in some poses. Long sleeves are better for adults to focus attention on the face. Short sleeves are ok for infants and children. If you wear glasses, feel free to wear them. Our photographers are trained to minimize any glare. You may invite grandparents or other family members/ loved ones to join your portrait sitting (even if they are not members). You may bring your household pet to your portrait session, you may bring meaningful items such as sports equipment, musical instruments, special toys or books, etc. We encourage you to have fun at your session and express your true personality! The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the Sanctification of its members by prayers and active cooperation. We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the Pastoral Center. For more information call Rose Symkowick at 415-731-4652. Living Stewardship Now How much time do you devote to your community of faith in worship, prayer and deeds of love? How do you express your thanks for what the community gives you? As Christians we are called to do two things, one relating to God and one relating to our community. We need to do both, but they are not separate; they often overlap. We need to praise God, whether that be in private conversation or prayer or in communal worship as we do at the Eucharist today, and we need to love our neighbor, which may first be expressed in getting to know our neighbor, but ultimately in what we do for and with our community. The Trinity then expresses all these things. With a little meditation on it, we can see an overall pattern for our lives, come to realize the miraculously beautiful plan of it in creation and our humanity, and come to be better people by following the Spirit. And this is the Good News of the Trinity that needs to be pondered in our own lives.

HOLY NAME CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC SPRING RECITAL TODAY, JUNE 3, 2012 AT 2 pm in the PASTORAL CENTER EVENT ROOM SUMMER REGISTRATIONS ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED For more information about the Conservatory program or to register for private lessons in piano, voice, violin or guitar, please call Jackie at (415)664-8590. BAPTIZE THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT THE MOST HOLY TRINITY June 3, 2012 Today s Readings Dt 4:32 34, 39 40 Rom 8:14 17 Mt 28:16 20 While filling out pages in our daughter s baby book, my husband and I noted that while most of the book is about her, quite a few sections ask about us. Where Mom and Dad went to school, how we met, funny quirks about each other. Though she won t be interested in those sections immediately, my own experience reveals that she ll one day be quite curious about her parents. I ve recently spent much time with my mom assembling old family photos, and I ve delighted in the stories about her childhood and her marriage BC Before Children! This Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity is a moment to ponder about our divine Parent. The Church gives us this feast to reflect on the mystery of who God is for us. Perhaps most remarkable is the reality that we can call God our Father. Saint Paul states it beautifully: You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, Abba, Father! We re asked to name God in the same way Jesus did intimately, as a child to a parent. It s a privilege we should never take for granted. Today on this feast, what can you say you know about God from your experience of being God s beloved child? The Hebrews in the first reading could tell of God s mighty deeds for them throughout history. Jesus disciples could speak to his great miracles and the Spirit moving among them. These rich stories make up the parents pages of our baby book but what can we add to them from what we have known of God? Who is God to you? JANEL ESKER sundaybulletins@liguori.org HOLY NAME Youth Ministry! - Don t Forget! The youth group (7th grade and up) meets every 2nd & 4th Sunday after the 11:30 AM Mass.
