Please stand if you are able. HONDURAS MISSION COMMISSIONING July 23, 2017 10:30 a.m. Ou r Mission: Gro wing in Sp irit Living as D isciple s Se rving God s World Preparation for Worship Almighty God, we pray for your blessing on the church in this place. Here may the faithful find salvation, and the careless be awakened. Here may the doubting find faith, and the anxious be encouraged. Here may the tempted find help, and the sorrowful find comfort. Here may the weary find rest, and the strong be renewed. Here may the aged find consolation and the young be inspired; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. We Gather in God s Name Prelude Prelude in B Minor Bach Ray Freeman, Organist Welcome and Announcements Passing of the Peace Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Song of Praise Holy Is the Lord Praise Band

Call to Worship Leader: We look at this world, focusing on the pain and confusion, the fears and hatred, which seem to abound. People: For what can we hope? Leader: We wait breathlessly for the goodness of creation to be made manifest in all the world, for this is the promise of God. People: God is always with us, guiding, rescuing, healing, restoring us. Leader: Get ready, dear friends! The promises of God are true. People: Lord, quiet our spirits and open our hearts. Bring us hope and peace. Hymn #13 The Mighty God with Power Speaks Prayer of Confession It is said that confession is good for the soul, but there are times, O Lord, when we just don t want to confess; we don t want to own up to the many ways in which we have failed to be your faithful disciples. We have turned our backs on those in need. We have sought after power and riches, believing that these things bring true happiness. But you know us far too well. You know what is within our hearts and our spirits. You seek the very best for us that we might grow to be fruitful plants in your garden. Be with us. Forgive us when we have failed to love and treat others with respect and compassion. Turn our hearts back toward you, who always reaches out to us offering healing and love. These things we ask in Jesus name. Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: People: Great news has come to us, dear friends. God, who is faithful and just, who cherishes us as we are, seeks restoration and healing for those broken places in our lives, forgives, and loves us unconditionally. This is good news! Thanks be to God! We Proclaim God s Word Anthem Fly Away Medley Arr. Hayes Summer Choir Children s Message Greta Miller Children ages 3 & 4 are invited to Play n Worship in Room 13. BUNCO - Tuesday, July 25, 1:00 a.m. All are welcomed to join BUNCO in the Family Room. A cheerful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22. A Grace Disguised - Wednesdays, August 2, 9, & 16, 10:00 a.m. - (Please note corrected time.) Sometimes we need to journey through the depths of sorrow, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings. Join us in the Library for three classes that help give new meaning to grief. Contact Yvette for more information, aging@gracepresby.org. FINANCE UPDATE As of the end of June, our Offerings from members have fallen to $21,300 below budgeted projections. Last year at this time, Offerings were only $800 under budget. Fortunately, due to delays in some planned spending, we ended the month with a small ($9,600) excess. However, without improvement in our Offering income, we may have to curtail some planned spending for the remainder of the year. Member statements will be issued in early August showing contributions as of July 30th. If you are behind in your planned giving or had intended to wait until later in the year to make your pledge payments, please consider our current situation. Thanks. WORSHIP ON VACATION As you leave town on your summer holiday, pray for a safe journey and good moments spent with God. Send us a picture of a church you visited, and we ll add it to the E-News Travel Section! 5
