What else is there to give when one has already given away their body and their life? What more can one say or do to demonstrate love for another when all they have has been given to another? This total giving of self to loved ones cannot be trumped by flowery words or material gifts that are fleeting. This is the ultimate in love. This is the love Jesus had for us on the way to his passion, at the institution of the Holy Eucharist. This is the love he has for us daily in the celebration of the Mass on altars in every church, in every city, in every nation on earth. No one can give more. No one can ask for more. This is the true heart of Christian stewardship. If you take the time to gaze upon your God in the simplest of forms and begin to reflect on what has actually taken place with bread and wine becoming the presence of the Divine, then you can begin to understand true humility, sacrifice, and love. And when you have the privilege to take that Real Presence into your body at the meal where you are an honored guest, you become one with the One who is the embodiment of stewardship. Then, you must ask the question of yourself, "How can I even begin to reflect the love that I have encountered at this feast?" The answer is you can begin with the simple actions of the day: where will you go, whom will you meet, and in what work will you partake? Jesus Christ has shown that the greatest gift ever given can be disguised in this world in a piece of bread. By joining your body to his, he can now transform human hearts, not by grand acts, but by everyday acts, by everyday people practicing Everyday Stewardship. --Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS St. Mary s Parish received $660.69 from the Scrip Program. Holy Family, St. James and St. Johns parishes received scrip distributions as well. Also, thanks to the dedicated people who purchase scrip, the total amount allocated to families tuition accounts in 2017-2018 was $13,725.07. Another $1,362.05 was distributed to the general tuition assistance fund, and $28,637.95 to the general operating fund of Holy Trinity Catholic Schools. On behalf of the school, thank you to all the parishioners for your dedication to Holy Trinity Schools and the scrip program! If you would like to help raise money for our school with no cost to you, you can buy for your everyday purchases. Scrip is offered for a variety of retailers you use everyday; from local retailers like Sonny s, BP, Brad s Pad and Hair Etc. to national retailers like Amazon, Dick s Sporting Goods, Panera Bread and Menards. Scrip is sold before and after Saturday night and Sunday morning Masses. It can also be purchased online through the HTC website. If you have questions please call, email or stop and visit with Mindy Goldie at Holy Trinity Elementary 319-837-6131, mindy.goldie@holytrinityschools.org Holy Trinity Catholic School begins classes, Wednesday, August 22nd. Wednesday Morning Mass will be at 8:45 AM beginning on this day until the end of May to allow the Elementary students to attend. Also, please be aware that traffic around the church will be increasing with school busses and parents dropping students off. This year as construction on the Elementary building continues traffic may be even more congested than usual. Please park only in designated parking places and do not stop in the middle of the street to run into church, the school or the parish office. Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our school children and one another safe. As your child or grandchild begins a new school year things can get very hectic trying to get back into school schedules, shopping for supplies and school clothes. While this prepares them physically, we can also care for them spiritually. Here is a Backpack Blessing to start the school year off right! Lord, bless these backpacks and the children and youth who carry them as they begin yet another year of school. Give them peace when they feel nervous, focus when they feel distracted, energy when they feel tired. Open their minds to the lessons they will learn both in and outside the classroom. Help them to make friends that build one another up, and be friends to those who need them. Guide them in making good choices as they grow in wisdom and maturity. Be ever-present with them in the classroom, on the school bus, on the playground, and at home, and may they feel your loving care in all they do. Amen. Religious Education Classes will begin Sunday, August 19th at St. Boniface Parish with breakfast for children and families @ 9:00AM. St. Mary s classes will begin Wednesday, August 29th with an Opening Mass at 6:30pm and class immediately following. Please register your child as soon as possible for class. You can find forms on the parish website westpointstmary.org/religious-education.html or in the church. Cost is $20.00 per child for the year. The class schedule is also available on the website. If you have any questions please contact Dixie Booten 319-837-8905. **Reminder there will be a Religious Ed Mass at 6:30pm the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at St. Mary s beginning Sept.12th. All parishioners are welcome and encouraged to attend.
