2 The Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Saturday and Sunday August 11-12, August 11-12, 2018 Dear Friends: I really enjoyed being with you last weekend for our annual blessing of backpacks and school supplies and our back-to-school snow cone social! Thanks to Mrs. Gardiner our principal and all who helped with the day. School is off to a great start, and I m very excited about the new year. On our first day here at St. Jude this past week, Wednesday, I was over at Catholic High very early for Mass with all of the freshmen and eighth graders for their first day. I celebrate Mass at CHS a couple of times a year, and this is one of the annual occasions for which I am able to be present. I saw all of our St. Jude guys, and, as always, they made me very proud! We ve had a great response to FLOCKNOTE. While there is no deadline to sign up, we are setting a deadline (August 16) by which you can sign up if you want to be eligible for 1 of 3 drawings for a $100 gift card to Drusilla Seafood. So, while you can sign up at any time, if you want to participate in the raffle, you must do so by August 16. August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption. We will offer 3 Masses: a Vigil Mass at 5:30pm on Tuesday August 14 and 2 Masses on Wednesday August 15: 8:15am (school Mass) and 6:30pm. I hope you are able to join us. Have a great week! 3 Stewardship of Finance Over the next few weeks, you will be hearing about the upcoming One Hope! One Faith! One Family! Program at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. This Program is very important as we move forward with the mission and vision of our parish. We, as a parish family, have changed so many lives in our community as we have served God's people. In order to continue our mission and ministries, we encourage all parishioners to spend time in prayer and discussion with your family reflecting on the needs of the parish and your current giving level. We look forward to seeing all of our parishioners at Mass, especially during our special Commitment Weekend on September 8 th and 9 th. If you have any questions regarding the One Hope! One Faith! The RCIA process is open to: 1) Those seeking baptism in the Catholic faith; 2) Those who were baptized in another Christian faith and who are interested in converting to Catholicism; 3) Adults already baptized as Catholics but never received the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation. The RCIA process helps them to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church. If you know someone who may be interested in learning about our faith or possibly converting, invite them to inquire. There is no obligation. RCIA sessions will begin in September and are held on Wednesday nights in the Ministry Building. K-8 PSR meets every Wednesday from 6:15-7:15 PM and High School PSR meets every other Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 PM. from September until March.
