FAZtor s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora Our parishioner across the street, Jerry Back, noticed random people showing up last weekend and stopping at the One Body Statue in front of the church and at the Blessed Mother Mary s grotto. I also noticed over the past few days some young people, even kids accompanied by a parent, walking on the sidewalk by the church. I was hoping they were there to visit our church and Our Lady s grotto. But they were holding their smartphones trying to find and catch a Pokémon with this new App game called Pokémon Go. Holy Name Church must be a designated Pokémon pit stop, where you can discover and capture some Pokémons. It s a new fad for the youth and supposedly a fun game but it should just be used to go to a safe place, like our Church. At least if you can t find a Pokémon, you can find the Jesus or the Blessed Mother. Safety and Disaster Emergency Preparedness was the topic of discussion at a meeting of our Holy Name Parish Safety and Emergency Team led by the Morten family(dick, Madeline & Ai-Lin) and attended by our school principal, Natalie Cirigliano, our preschool director Alice Seher, our parish manager Jackie Alcaraz, our chief sacristan Ramsey Ramos and me. Leading the discussion was Derek B. Gaskin, the Director of Safety and Security of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. We will be announcing a NERT (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team) training session soon and will be publishing some safety and emergency response tips. We all want to be safe and to be saved. Looking at the bigger picture, we all long for our salvation. Hear this: Longfellow could take a sheet of paper, write a poem on it and make it worth sixty thousand dollars. That s talent. Rockefeller could sign a piece of paper and make it worth a million. That is capital. Uncle Sam can take an ounce of gold and stamp an eagle on it and make it worth $40. That is money. A mechanic can take material worth five dollars and make it into an article worth $50. That is skill. A merchant can buy an article for 80 cents, put it on his counter and sell it for a dollar. That is business. God can take a worthless sinful life, wash it, cleanse it, put His Holy Spirit within it and make it a blessing to all humanity. That is salvation. (Sunshine) God saves! He searches for us. We are like the Pokémons. He will find us. God s love for us never changes. Donald: I hear you broke off your engagement. What happened? Daisy: Oh, it s just that my feelings for him have changed. Donald: Are you returning the ring? Daisy: Oh, no! My feelings for the ring haven t changed. SENIOR CLUB The Senior Club will be on summer break for the month of August and will resume meetings on September 15, 2016. FUNDRAISER/PRESENTATION FOR FR. EDWARD INYANWACHI WHEN: AUGUST 27 th SATURDAY EVENING WHERE: FLANAGAN CENTER @ HOLY NAME OF JESUS CHURCH TIME: 6pm-9pm Admission fee: $50.00 On Sat., August 27 th, there will be a presentation from Angela Testani and Fr. Edward Inyanwachi on the life and health care needs of the people in the village of Fr. Edward s in Nigeria. No advance reservations/tickets are necessary. You can pay at the door. This is a fundraiser and all proceeds will go towards the shipping of medical/surgical equipment/supplies to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Checks will be accepted and can be made out to: MedShare, which is a non-profit, tax deductible organization that will supply and ship the equipment. Light refreshments will be served. There will be door prizes as well. For those who are unable to attend, but wish to donate to this worthy cause, you may contact Angela Testani @ 415 586-5754. THANK YOU LETTER FROM SR. NECY Dear All, Greetings of love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ! The day has come to accept that change is the one constant. Change that would bring newness of life for each one of us. Let us meet that change with the confidence that we can handle whatever comes our way. My mission of love and service for three years at Holy Name of Jesus is finished. I have fought a good fight: I have run the race: I have kept the faith. I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve you and with you. Many of you have a great impact on me, and I ve learned much from you. My experiences both pleasant and unpleasant (at times), made me grow for what God himself had planted at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Thanks God! Even though I am gone, I am sure that you all will share your gifts and talents in building up a more vibrant faith-community. That each one will support to make Stewardship: a Way of Life happen and a success. Continue to work/minister as faithfully as you were with me, We may be further apart by physical location, but I will always cherish the memories. Last but not the least, a big thank you to all those who came to my farewell reception, those who wished me well, and everyone who gave me both spiritual and materials gifts. God is your reward. Wishing you all the best and rest assured of my remembrance of you all in my prayers. Love and blessings, Sr. Necy Guan, FdCC HOLY NAME LADIES AID COLLECTION Today, members of the Holy Name Ladies Aid will be collecting for the needy in the Parish. Your generosity is very much appreciated. Boxes will be by the exits. BUILDING & MAINTENANCE FUND Next Sunday, our Second Collection will be for our Parish Building & Maintenance. Your generosity helps us take care of our Parish plant.

Note the actions of Abraham as he greeted the Lord in the presence of three men who appeared near his tent. He ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them. He bowed to the ground as he met them. He and Sarah, his wife, hastened to prepare a meal and bring food and water to their guests. In the Gospel story, Jesus friend Mary sat at his feet in order to listen to him speak. How do we welcome and reverence the Lord? What do our actions show? Do we remember the Lord s presence in the Blessed Sacrament? How do we welcome the Lord in the scripture readings? How do we acknowledge his presence in our brothers and sisters, both at Mass and afterwards? Whether we kneel, stand, or sit in the Lord s presence, may our hearts and minds always be attuned to him.
