WORSHIP FOR PRESCHOOL SUNDAY September 17, 2017 10:30 a.m. Ou r Mission: Gro wing in Sp irit Living as D isciple s Se rving God s World Delivered the 100 buckets without incident today. Glenn G. left shortly before 6 and hit the CWS warehouse when they opened at 0730. Two guys came out with a forklift and we were done in 20 minutes. Our buckets made a big U-Turn in the warehouse and went right into a semi that pulled out later in the morning bound for TX. It was worth the push that everyone put into this project. Thanks to every single one of you who helped. Dave Retherford Preparation for Worship This week has been designated by the World Council of Churches as World Week of Peace in Israel and Palestine. The Prayer below is from the worship resources provided by the WCC. God of Hope, who fulfilled the promises of Easter by sending your Holy Spirit to the Church, and opening to all people the way of eternal life, pour your power upon your children in the Holy Land: Jews, Christians and Muslims, Palestinians and Israelis. Seeking a just peace, we turn to you. Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope, oppression to freedom. Let what is broken be healed, teach us ways to live in equality. For in the light of Easter, you have given us a vision of shalom and salaam, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Most Rev. Dr. Antje Jackelén, Archbishop of the Church of Sweden

We Gather in God s Name Prelude Prelude and Fugue in E Minor Bach Ray Freeman, Organist Welcome and Announcements Passing of the Peace Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Praise Song Deliver Me Call to Worship One: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end. All: They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness, O God. One: The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in the Lord. All: Let us worship God. Hymn #472 Kum ba Yah Prayer of Confession Gracious God, we are not always our best selves. We think and act in ways that are contrary to your will for your children or your creation. At times, like the Apostle Paul, we must say, I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Forgive us, O God, for our wayward thoughts and for our wasted actions, for our words that hurt, for our decisions that disappoint even ourselves. Restore a right spirit within us, and help us to grow in your love. In Christ s name we pray, Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven. People: Thanks be to God. We Proclaim God s Word Grace Weekday Preschool Teacher Recognition Children s Message Children ages 3 & 4 are invited to Play n Worship in Room 13. After their activity, they will go to the Nursery. We and Christians around the globe are invited to remember the unresolved conflict in Israel and Palestine that is causing untold suffering. And we are invited to pray and take peaceful action to promote peace and justice in the region, demonstrating our peaceful participation in common international public witness. The week of prayer and witness will culminate in the MMEPJ presentation after worship next Sunday. (See Events.) Peace and Global Witness Offering - This offering, received during the Season of Peace leading up to World Communion Sunday on October 1, supports the holistic, wide-ranging witness of the whole church. For generations, and to the ends of the earth, Presbyterians have borne witness to Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Our 4

offering provides for the development of resources, conferences and leadership training, and mutual learning and shared action among communities working for peace. 25% of the offering received at Grace will support the making of a video documenting the struggles and peacemaking efforts of Tent of Nations, a cause you can learn more about at the Information Station. For the young, please pick up a peacemaking coloring sheet by the entrance to the Sanctuary Peace for all ages. Grace Neighborhood Mission - Tutoring.
