Worship May 27, 2018 10:30 a.m. Ou r Mission: Gro wing in Sp irit Living as D isciple s Se rving God s World Preparation for Worship Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. I Corinthians 13:4-8a We Gather in God s Name Prelude Fugue in C Major Bach Ray Freeman, Organist Welcome and Announcements Passing of the Peace Leader: People: The peace of the Lord be with you. And also with you. Please pass the friendship register! Please stand if you are able.

Call to Worship One: Many: One: Many: One: Many: Welcome, friend and stranger Welcome, honored guest. We gather as a community to worship God, To be reminded of God s goodness, To be reminded of the call to be a part of that goodness. Let us worship God. Hymn #699 Fill My Cup Prayer of Confession Eternal Splendor, Light of light and God of gods, You have shone upon us and we have seen your glory, shining in the face of Jesus Christ our Lord. Bathed in your light, our faith and our communal life are shown to be shrouded and tarnished. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. Yet, in your great mercy you forgive what we have been. We pray that you now will amend what we are and direct what we shall be, that we may henceforth walk in your light, delight in your will, and reflect your radiance, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: People: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven. Thanks be to God. Chancel Choir rehearsals have ended, and we look forward to Summer Choir providing us with uplifting anthems during the months ahead. If you like to sing, come to the Choir Room at 9:50 on Sunday mornings. We learn the anthem for the day, similar to what Men s Chorus does. No robes, come as you are, and praise God in song. We are also looking for soloists and ensembles for the Offertory. Please contact Scott Seifried if you are willing. From the Grace A/V Team. We deeply apologize for the technical difficulties that occurred during the sermon last Sunday. We have determined that the issue was the computer s not having enough memory and essentially freezing for unknown reasons. Accordingly, we have taken steps to upgrade our equipment, as well as establishing a protocol to avoid further distracting screen displays. Study Hall. Come to the Library for a snack, and peace and quiet to study. We are open the week of Senior exams (excluding Memorial Day) - 5/29 through 5/31, and for Underclass exams - 6/4-8 + 6/11-12. Hours: After school until 5:00. Nablus Youths to Tri-Cities Work Camp. Nablus youths will be visiting us from July 28 to July 31. Contact the Fords or Maria Clayton if you can help. If you can donate to airfare, see gofundme on the Grace Facebook page and on the E-News. EVENTS Robinson Trombone Choir - May 30, 7:30 p.m. An annual tradition at Grace, this concert features Robinson High School students, directed by Greg Freeman. They will provide an evening of solo and ensemble music for trombone. Come celebrate the achievements of these young musicians and their instructor. 4

Dominion Brass and Mission Presentation - June 3, 5:00 p.m. This concert is hosted by the Mission Committee and will provide an opportunity to learn about Clementina s Kitchen and our sister church s upcoming youth visit from Nablus. Great music, dedicated musicians, and free-will offering for two Grace missions. ECHO Fundraiser - Thursday, June 7. Please go to ECHO s Facebook page for a flyer to present at Coal Fire Restaurant, 9276 Old Keene Mill Road, Burke. 20% of proceeds go to ECHO. Electronic or paper flyers are both acceptable. Iftar at Ezher Bloom Mosque - Monday, June 11, 6:15 p.m. We leave from N. Parking for our annual visit to the Institute of Islamic & Turkish Studies, where we participate in a tour of the mosque and the sharing of the Iftar meal after sunset. Joyful Ringers and Silver 5 Brass Quintet in Concert - June 17, 7:00 p.m. For over 40 years, you ve heard the Joyful Ringers bring joy to the holidays and beauty to worship. They join The Silver 5 Brass Quintet to present old favorites, and new toe-tappers. For Greenspring residents, the Grace bus will pick you up. Board of Directors Update May 2018 Pastor Ben appreciated Verizon s efforts in cleaning out the ant colony to restore phone and internet service earlier in the week. The church was offline for two days. The office has a new copier that has the same capabilities as the old one. The replacement was done at no cost to the church. All of the electrical panels in the church have been replaced. There is some brick work yet to be done around the panels. This was to meet insurance requirements to upgrade the panels from known faulty panels. Thank you to all for your patience and cooperation. The next step will be to install emergency exit lights. New doors for the Tower entrance and N. Parking will be installed at the end of the month. These doors will be ADA compliant to allow for handicapped/wheelchair entrance. Preschool classrooms will also get new doors to the outside playground. In a continuing effort to reduce operating costs and our environmental impact the lights in the Family Room will be transitioned to LED lights in the near future. Repairs to the basketball hoop in S. Parking are awaiting replacement of the universal replacement kit (evidently not part of this universe). Rob Gold and Scotty Anckner are getting additional parts to restore the backboard to service. The Corporation meeting on May 20 elected Nick Amatuzzi and Erik Hawkins to fill the vacancies of Scotty Anckner and Kent Ford. If you have suggestions, comments, or questions you can contact the Board at gpcbod@gmail.com. The next meeting of the Board will be Saturday, June16, 2018, in the church library at 8:30 a.m. All are welcomed to attend. 5
