Matthew is a senior in high school and is applying to college. Grand Knight s Report GK Tim Mosholder: (1.) Communications Update: Tim set up a MailChimp account as our new mass mailer. It is free for up to 2000 subscribers and up to 12,000 s/month. It has some great features including templates and reports. Tim has received positive feedback from many Knights who are now receiving s for the first time! Karol Seydel set up a feature on the myparish app for the Knights of Columbus Council We will now be able to send out reminders of upcoming events. Tim encourages Knights to sign up by selecting the Groups button on the app and then select join. (2.) The mid-year Knights meeting was held at the Denver Crown Plaza on the weekend of December 10 th (Dan Lazzeri, Dave Stauber, Bernie Kuta, John Joseph and Tim all attended. The theme was to implement a 5% increase in volunteer hours and membership growth. The meeting was very educational for our team of leaders. (3.) Tim thanked our 4 th Degree council for their recent purchase of a Perpetual Memorial Society membership for PGK Rich Bowers. 100 Masses are celebrated annually for the benefactor s intention. Rich s name has been placed on the Perpetual Memorial Society list and will be displayed at K of C State conventions as well as remembered in various K of C publications.

5 GRAND TOTAL OF REPORT OF RECEIPTS: $ ***JOHN STRESSED THAT OUR FRATERNAL SURVEY OF HOURS IS DUE NOW AND HE THANKED THOSE WHO SUBMITTED HOURS. HE ALSO PASSED OUT BLANK FORMS FOR THOSE WHO STILL NEEDED TO REPORT VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR THEMSELVES, SPOUSES AND FAMILY. John also discussed how receipts and vouchers need to be timely and he asks that Knights not take money from receipts at different events and reassured us that any reimbursements for expenditures will take place within 1-2 weeks. TIM MOSSHOLDER AGAIN ASKED MEMBERS WHO WORK EVENTS TO BE SURE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SAFE TO UNLOCK AND LOCK SAFE USING THE 1498 CODE. IT IS CURRENTLY LOCKED AS SOMEONE ACCIDENTLY CHANGED THE CODE AND HENCE A KEY IS NEEDED TO OPEN IT. Auditors and Trustees Report (Bernie Kuta): Our council audit is due soon (Feb. 15 th ) Lecturers Report (Good of the Order) (Christopher Harden-excused) Robert Seydel discussed his new role at Catholic Cemeteries and urged us all to nurture our faith with New Year s resolutions and to spend as much time as possible with family and prayer. Committee Reports Committee Chair PGK Robert Wilson (acting chair) Church Director: Dan Timmerman: (1.) Dan thanked all those who helped with Keep Christ in Christmas sales as well as those who helped with parking at the Christmas Eve Masses where about 1700 worshippers attended. (2.) Our council will lead a Rosary before the February 1 st Council Meeting. Dan encouraged us to invite family and friends to participate. (4.) On January 15 th, we are scheduled to take down Christmas decorations and the Nativity scene. (5.) On the weekend of January th, Dan is asking for volunteers to lead a rosary at each Mass about 25 minutes before Mass starts. Family Director: Kurt Haneke and Gary Feltes (2 nd in command)- Our next First Saturday spaghetti dinner is scheduled this Saturday. Setup is at 2:30 PM and cleanup around 6:30 PM. Kurt thanked all those who helped cut down Christmas trees as well as those who cooked and helped at the Christmas Advent Party at Sacred Heart Retreat House. Youth Bradley Scott (excused)
6 January is the month for our annual hoop shoot; Brad is looking for a volunteer to head this as he is very busy coaching youth hockey. The state report is due February 15 th. The district free throw is the last Sunday in February. Community: Ben Mottinger: thanked those who helped out with the HR Mansion Celebration. He is planning for our Lenten fish fries which will occur on three Fridays In Lent. We may need to coordinate table set-up with Daughters of Mary on alternate Fridays as far as table set-up (they provide soup). Council Director- Rusty Hogan- Our next pancake breakfast will be held on Jan. 15 th after the 8 AM Mass. Bruce Allen has volunteered to coordinate this in Rusty s absence.. Standing Committee/Campout: this year s Gala (Greg Staley): Greg stated that the Gala committee is up and running consisting of the Cicones, the Staleys, the Kutas Staleys, Lazzeris and Pages. The theme this year is celebrationg our growing Parish community and there will be personal invitations for new parishioners to attend. There will be tables of 8, a hospitality suite at 11:30 and an upgraded entrée for an additional price. Tim has booked a new DJ. Registration starts the weekend of January 14 th. The event will again be at the Denver Marriott South Park Meadows facility on February 18 th. Pro-life: (Peter Hjelmstad): (1.)Peter thanked those who participated in the National Night of prayer with the rosary; (2.) Unfinished Business: (1.) (Bernie Kuta:) the parking lot expansion gravel pro- Ject is still awaiting the permit from HRCA and Douglas County. (2.) the Council Country Store has a new volunteer: Mark Smith! Old Business: none New Business: (Bernie Kuta): (1.) An Unborn Memorial Stone to be located at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery In Elizabeth is being planned and our archdiocese is asking for contributions from K of C councils. Peter Hjelmstadt discussed how we currently have $3500 earmarked for such a memorial on our parish grounds with a $500/yr. contribution. PGK Jim Butler feels such a memorial would have a better impact if planned on St. Mark s grounds. Bernie indicated how strongly he feels that we should support the cemetery request by contributing some amount; he proposed a $250 donation from our regular charity fund. This was seconded by Dave Stauber and passed unanimously. 4th Degree Report: (Dave Stauber): Dave again mentioned the upcoming 4 th Degree Exemplification on Saturday, Feb. 25 th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church in Northglenn, CO. Our next 4 th Degree Assembly Meeting will be on February 25 th at 7 PM. District Deputy Bernie Kuta: Bernie was given a standing ovation. (1.) The Columbian award was presented to our council at the recent state Meeting for all of our council s activities last year under PGK Bowers. Bernie presented this award in abstention to Rich. He suggests the award be placed in our K of C display case. (2.) As DD for district 9 these past 6 months, SK Roger Muller from Pax Christie will be assisting him as his warden. (3.) He is hosting a District 9 meeting at St. Mark, this Saturday, January 7th at 8:30 AM. Any Knights are welcome, especially directors and officers. The State Midyear Meeting focused mainly on growth with a 5% target.
8 Bernie hopes we can get a 5% increase in hours to our credit. Field Agent s Report: Jayme Sanford: Jayme passed out a document entitled: Knights of Columbus at a Glance. This bar graph summarized how the K of C insurance industry broke yet another record of contributions to good causes of $174 million in He stressed how we are a non-profit organization. He encouraged non-insured members to consider buying life, long-term care insurance or an annuity from our organization. We have a big goal of making our insurance quota to make Star Council. 9 BRADLEY STAIB MARK RUCCOLO BRIAN WENHAM The Family of the Month for November was presented tonight to Terry and Sandy Sandrock. Family of the month (January) - The family of the month are active and faithful members of St. Mark. Ed is very passionate with providing support for the Military Outreach Ministry. He recently prepared and delivered 296 gifts (provided by our parishioners) for 126 military families for Christmas. Ed also delivers outstanding homilies during mass. His wife, Kathy is the assistant to the Pastor and the Catechumenate and Liturgy director. The Family of the Month is awarded to Deacon Ed and Kathy DeMattee. Knight of the month The Knight of the month is an active member of our parish. He is always involved in activities such as: Christmas tree cuttings, decorating the church, setting up our Nativity scene, providing Christmas Eve parking assistance and setting up luminaries.
