Special thanks also to Angel Rivera, Tony Weiss, Steve Orwick, Kevin Pasnik, John Rivera, David Hanson and Mike Uihlein. We earn about $200 per trailer load from the recycling center. Calendar Sept. 15 That Man is You! We will be starting the second year of TMIY on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 6:00 a.m. in the Benish Center. Set those alarm clocks and come out for some weekly inspiration. This year, we will discover how to deal with issues facing Catholic men in today s world and culture. We will learn how to become better Christians, husbands, fathers, and men of faith. If you have questions, call Brian Van De Walle at (512) Sept. 17 in the rear parking lot near the can shed. Need men with wheelbarrows and shovels to move Brother Knights, thank you for all your hard work for the current Fraternal Year. September is here, football season (football frenzy), and we have sold all our tickets. We celebrated a Corporate Communion Mass on Sept. 11 during the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Lady Ernestine Currier and her daughter presented the Chalice she received at the Memorial Mass in May 2016 in honor of Sir Knight Dal Currier. November presents more opportunities with the beginning of nut sales, and possibly participating in the City of Cedar Park Veterans Day Parade. If you are interested in becoming a Fourth Degree Knight and joining your Brother Sir Knights in our Assembly, please contact me or any of our Fourth Degree Sir Knights prior to Oct. 1, so that we can get your application in before the next Fourth Degree Exemplification on Oct. 15. And a special shout out to Patty and Bob Hogan for their guidance and efforts in keeping this tradition alive for 10 years! Net proceeds were $7,100. Kudos to everyone who came out Labor Day weekend to help with the aluminum can collecting and Angel Rivera s motivational call for help at our monthly meeting. And a huge thank you to Titi Girma, Tony Weiss and Tony Rovano, Damon Bosonac, Mike Ciboins and Angel Villa for stepping up to head committees this year. We are still looking for more Brother Knights to answer the call to help run some of our committees, especially Pro Life. If you are interested, please contact John Hicks or me. We have some big fall events coming up. Oct. 7 is the Mobile Loaves and Fishes Golf Tournament. October 15 is the fourth degree exemplification in Harker Heights and our very own Oktobetfest. In November, we will be selling Pecans. So please volunteer to help where you can. Brother Bob became a Knight on Oct. 11, 1962 and a Fourth Degree Knight on March 8, Bob serves as Council 7600 s Culture of Life Chairman (Pro-Life Chairperson) and has served in this capacity for seven years. Patty Hogan has served in numerous positions in our Parish, but none bigger then the force behind the annual Garage Sale. Patty has been the tireless leader behind our many successful garage sales. Bob and Patty have been very involved in the annual Jennifer Wilks Foundation Golf Tournament against Childhood Cancer and the annual Annunciation Maternity Home Golf Tournament. The Hogan s bring honor to our Parish and to our Council. Please congratulate Brother and Sir Knight Bob and Patty Hogan as our Family of the Month for September Pro-Life Mass. Plan to attend the 6:30 p.m. Mass on the first Thursday of each month. This mass is sponsored by our council and is dedicated to Greater Respect for Life. Mike Uihlein scooping empty aluminum cans at the can shed Sept. 3. Brother Michael Uihlein has been a Knight of Columbus since July 16, Mike has served in numerous positions in our Parish: Ministry Leader for Mobile Loaves and Fishes for the past four to five years, serving on the Grounds Sub-Committee for Springfest, and he and his wife, Kathy, teach our second graders in RE. Brother Uihlein previously served on the Finance Committee at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Our council is a much better one because of Brother Michael Uihlein. Please congratulate him as the Knight of the Month for September SATURDAY MORNING PRAYER MINISTRY. Our Deacons are leading a morning prayer group Saturdays at 7 a.m. in the Eucharistic Chapel. It lasts about 30 minutes. Please join Deacon Phil, Deacon Jack, Deacon John, and other Brother Knights for this fulfilling ministry. 4 CHURCH ACTIVITIES Walter Yucikas Church Director COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES KC Wheelchair Mission Thanks to Brother Damon Bosonac, Council 7600 has donated funds for the 15th wheelchair purchase during He requested this chair be in Honor of Council The new KC Wheelchair Donation Jar currently contains $61 as of the close of the September 1 meeting. Remember, we need $150 to purchase a chair, so we have on-going work to do. Please consider funding a chair(s) "In Memory of" or "In Honor of" someone. Send your check made out to "KC Wheelchair Mission" to Brother David Tull. See address below. Your compassion and efforts will make a difference in the lives of the person in need of better mobility. Habitat for Humanity Home Work has begun on the Leander home on 1013 Moon Glow. Work days are Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for the next three months. Austin Fairy Godmother Gala - The event held at Kindred Oaks in Georgetown on August 5 was a successful fundraiser, netting over $15,000. Thanks to all who participated and supported this local charity. KC Night at the Texas Stars Hockey Game - On Jan. 28, 2017, we are having a KC 7600 Community Activity at the HEB Center (previously Cedar Park Center) in Cedar Park. The event is for all Knights and their families/friends. We will kick-off the event with a private pregame gathering (one hour before the gates open to the public) in the upstairs Loge Level with snacks and drinks (pay as you go). We get reduced parking and game tickets in the Luxury Level ($29.50 regular price; we pay $20). We plan to take advantage of riding a Zamboni during the first game intermission. Rumor going around that Fr. Luis may be the honored rider. We will be sending out an event flyer soon.
