3 The Boy Scouts of America remains one of the best character-building and leadership development organizations in the world. We know that the Scouting program supports America in retaining our values of being a responsible, productive and moral society. It s no surprise that so many of America s leaders, have Scouting in their backgrounds. Here in the Mississippi Valley Council, we strive to provide programs and opportunities that allow young people to reach their potential. Activities like earning merit badges, camping, performing community service, and leading others, help Scouts see that their future can be anything they set their mind to achieve. Thank you for your support of Scouting. Due to that support, we have been able to improve upon our program in 2017 which includes several projects at our camps. We also want to recognize the contributions of our many volunteers and staff. It is because of their time and dedication that the programs of the Mississippi Valley Council give our youth the skills and confidence they need to create the future. Kevin Mineart Dennis Stewart Todd Lamison Council President Council Commissioner Scout Executive Saukenauk is 602 acres of prime Boy Scout real estate with a 40 acre crescent moon shaped lake. The Main Side of camp (Camp Illini) is designed to host Boy Scout Summer Camp with 10 campsites and program areas for Nature, STEM, Scoutcraft, Shooting Sports, and Aquatics. The Jambo Side (Camp Illiniwek) is covered with huge beautiful pines. Pictured left are the new Philmont Cabins now available for weekend use. Situated on the mighty Mississippi, Camp Eastman provides an ideal setting for boys of all ages. Along with the recreation and wildlife opportunities that only the Mississippi river brings, there are other environments that appeal to anyone wishing to study wetlands, aquatic, hardwood forests and river bluff habitats. Pictured right are the new Honor Cabins now available for weekend use.
