Yes, indeed, November is a busy month, and each Sunday has an importance of its own, so don t miss a minute of it! November 3 is the third Sunday of our Faithful, opeful, Loving (FL) stewardship and mission emphasis, and this week s theme is Loving: Christians and congregations must experience and share love. It is not optional; it is imperative. A loving response must be made when love is experienced. One expression of our loving response to the goodness of God and the call of Christ is the Commitment Card we will receive at worship on November 3 or 10 (or by letter). Your finance committee thanks you for your prayerful consideration of your 2014 commitment. he Loving theme will also be highlighted by recognizing the first Sunday of November as Orphan Sunday. hank you to the Andersons for sharing their adoption experience. Also on the first Sunday we celebrate our Savior s love by sharing communion for all-- old and young; members, friends, neighbors--all who seek the love of Christ. And since it is also All Saints Sunday, we will light candles in remembrance of the saints who have gone before us. November 10 is the Sunday we will dedicate our Commitment Cards to God s work through Galena UMC. We encourage everyone to stay after worship for a delicious piece of pie as we give thanks for all your support in this season of harvest! he andbell Choir will inspire us with their music on the morning of Sunday, November 17, and our new District Superintendent, Rev. Lisa Kruse Safford, will offer ideas and encouragement in the evening. Apple River UMC is the location of this year s Church Conference at 5:00 p.m. All are invited! Rev. Safford has asked each church to share pictures of Who Is My Neighbor, so let s snap some interesting photos of our community as we plan how to reach out more effectively. hanksgiving is in the air on Sunday, November 24, when we worship in the morning at 125 South Bench Street and in the afternoon at the Ramada Inn where Lord of Love will host the United Churches of Galena hanksgiving Service at 4:00 p.m. We are so very blest, as a church and as a community! United Methodist Women Our November UMW meeting will be held on the second Wed., Nov. 13, instead of the third Wed. as usual. Please mark your calendar. We will again be meeting at appy Joe's.

My mom always kept a jar by the washer, and any money that ended up in the washer went into her thank offering jar.

We meet in the lobby outside the entrance to the Galena Stauss Nursing home, and go in to sing with the residents. If you enjoy singing, but don t want to commit to choir, or if you re in choir and want to warm your vocal chords another time, come join us! AND let the lay leadership (nominations) team know where YOUR talents and interests lie so YOU can fulfill your calling as a 21 st century disciple! Your church and your world need YOU!!!
