1 INDIANA SOUTH WESLEYAN SEPTEMBER Family Camp Over a thousand people filled the tabernacle for the concert. A man that was passing through to South Dakota heard about the concert and stopped in for a visit. A local business man, who attends the Catholic Church, came and enjoyed the concert. Friends of the district, who have not attended our camp for years, came to hear the music. Some people that have been gracious to support the district financially had never been here until that night. Some people love God and do not have much talent and some people have talent and do not love God, but the Collingsworth Family have both, and they use their talent to exalt Christ! Bro. Sergio Avila and his family are faithfully pastoring our Potter s Shop church at Evansville. Superintendent s Schedule September 5 A.M. Also pictured is Mrs. Wilson and Pastor Bob & Vivian England. Many sought the Lord several nights during the altar service. Congratulations to Rev. Kurtis Lewis and Rev. Harvey McAdams for getting ordained this year! It was a privilege to have Dr. & Mrs. Pence with us as well. Pastor Tony Bye gave an outstanding youth message for Youth Night. It was an honor to have retired General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church Dr. Robert McIntyre and his wife with us for a couple of days.

2 The Amazing Power of God Family Camp This year at Family Camp may have been the most moving week of my life. Throughout the week Pastor Wes Wickard and his gang did an awesome job leading us in worship. Thursday during the day at Patoka Lake we were blessed with witnessing a total of 7 baptisms ranging from around 12 years old up to a senior in college. The following day, in the Friday morning youth service Pastor Wes had a student give a very powerful testimony where the student admitted to some sinful practices and shared how he had repented and was saved the previous night. The Spirit of the Lord could be felt like the presence of a close friend sitting next to you. Pastor Wes felt the presence and decided to continue worshiping instead of giving his sermon, allowing the Spirit to move in the hearts of the students. Youth pastors and sponsors went to the front of the room. Students began to come and pray with us one on one. Pastor Joe prayed with one student who desired to quit smoking. The student went to his vehicle and brought his pack of cigarettes in and gave them to Pastor Joe. After many of the students prayed with sponsors, many people were making new commitments and having a salvation experience. There was even one student who felt God was leading him into ministry in some way. I got the great honor to pray with this student and he came up to me because he said he has always looked up to me. The love I felt in that moment is indescribable. This student has been through a lot and has meant a great deal to me for a very long time. Matthew Wright Senior Youth Ministry Major IWU Pastor Appreciation Pastor Appreciation Day is October 10th. Don t forget to show your pastor and their family how much you appreciate all of their hard work that they do for you, your family and your church! Here is a note showing what Seymour Wesleyan did for Pastor & Mrs. Holt last year. Most of us have heard the term Christmas in July. For Rev. & Mrs. Ira Holt and their Seymour First Wesleyan Church family, it was Christmas in October. First of all, starting the last Wednesday in September, the congregation brought in gift/food items which began with the letter P. This continued each week (with the second Wednesday being items that began with A, the third Wednesday, S and so forth) until the word P-A-S-T-O-R had been spelled out. Not only was it exciting for the Holts to receive a variety of items, the congregation also looked forward to seeing what everyone had brought for the gift basket as well as wondering how long it would take Bro. & Sis. Holt to figure out the word riddle! In addition, for each day of the month of October, a different family in the church did something special for the Holts. They were honored with a variety of creative tokens of appreciation cards, meals out, meals brought in, home-cooked meals in member s homes, gift cards, a fruit basket, a memory photo album, poetry, monetary gifts, an outing to a state park, pies, cakes with the month culminating with a certificate of appreciation which included an all-expense-paid vacation to a cabin in the Smokey Mountains. It was indeed an exciting and fun Pastor Appreciation Month for the Seymour First Wesleyan Church family. Bro. & Sis. Holt were walking on cloud nine and felt greatly humbled from all the kindness, love and thoughtfulness expressed by their people. And not only the Holts, but also the congregation received the special blessing that comes with that so-familiar verse of scripture It was more blessed to give than to receive.
