1 PNC NEWSLETTER Volume 1, Issue 3 October 2011 Letter to the Churches Stephen R. Snodgrass Dear Pilgrim Nazarene Church family, October and the season that it ushers in have always been one of my favorite times of year. Cooler days. Brighter colors. It all adds to the excitement of a time spent with family and friends. With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner we began to see the sights and smell the aroma that partner with this time of year. As we begin to count our blessings and reflect upon another year, we find ourselves in a position of humility and thanksgiving. Yes, there have been trials, yes there have been setbacks, yes, there have been disappointments, but one thing has remained permanent Jesus. He has been with us every step of the way and His grace has been sufficient for every need. As we consider God s faithfulness, we are not astonished but rather appreciative. Personally, I m thankful for Granting good health to my wife Children who want to serve Jesus Missions Update It has been one month since we have reported on the status of the building project in Tenali, India and many things have taken place. The exterior structural portion has been completed and much progress has been made on the interior. The plastering has been completed in the sanctuary of the Steve Harbison Memorial Church has been complete and work on the orphanage and guest rooms is taking shape. In a recent video conference call with Bro. Johnpaul and Bro. Isaac Pinapati, I was told that the construction is on schedule for occupation of the orphanage and church to begin in December of this year. They are planning to have their annual Christmas program and dinner in the new building. That brings me to my next subject. Christmas project!! On page three of this letter I will print a portion of the letter that you will receive from our Helping Hands Director, Sis. Shirley Fogleman. Please read it and do your best to get the monies in as soon as you can. My holiness heritage Friends who want to draw closer to God. As a church we can be thankful for: Pastors who are faithful to preach the Word. How God is helping Bro. Johnpaul and the work in Tenali, India. Youth Camp! The many who got saved and renewed the purpose to follow Jesus. Camp Meeting! The prayer meetings, services, the messages, the encouragement, the fellowship. God has been so good to us let us be thankful. Recent picture of the sanctuary of Steve Harbison Memorial Church! The plastering is complete. Praise the Lord! Pilgrim s Progress Report Page 1

2 H E L P I N G H A N D S In the next week the pastors will receive a packet from Sis. Shirley Fogleman, that will contain information regarding the upcoming Christmas Project for missions. I will give you a small list and she will be sending more information to you soon. We need to raise $3,820 for the following items: 1. Blanket for pastors = $ Sarees for widows = $1, Clothes for orphans = $ Christmas dinner = $ Christmas program = $ Pinapati love offering = $ This offering will be sent to Bro. Pinapati and the items will be distributed at the annual Christmas dinner that they will have on December 23 rd of this year. Pastors, please forward this on to your local missions secretary and let us get this information before our people. You will receive a blessing and your people will as well. Missions is a great cause. Thanks for your prayers and support to this great cause. - SRS News from the Churches Cabot, AR Mike Swearingen, pastor September 11, we had a special service that morning to commemorate the victims of 911 and to remember our nation. September has been a month of answered prayer for the people of Cabot. Sis. Dillard had surgery to correct an abnormal heart rhythm and has done remarkably well since the surgery. Tim Cross, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Leon Cross, received word on September 20 th that a liver had been located for him. He was very ill and has been on the transplant list for 11 years. The surgeon would not begin the surgery until the hospital had enough blood ready. After a stockpile of 17 units, the surgery began. God still worked miracles. Tim did not require even one unit of blood during the surgery, which is unheard of! The surgery took only 4 hours where 6 is the norm, and he did not have the normal complications following surgery. In less than a week, he was home and is still doing well. This has truly been a miracle from God, and we have been praising Him for it! Cape Girardeau, MO Troy Truitt, pastor Greetings once again from beautiful Cape Girardeau! We are so thankful for God's special touch during our revival meeting this past month. Rev. Dan Durkee preached with a burden and our souls were challenged. The revival was well attended and many souls were truly impacted for God. We enjoyed the special music that was provided by the Durkee family, as well. Thanks to Trent Davis and a crew of our guys, our church landscaping has had a face (Continued lift. They on page were 5) able to redo our front flower beds and work on the retaining wall. It looks so much better!! Pastor Troy and his family were able to take a much-needed vacation this month. We have certainly missed them. Please continue to pray for us as we scatter the Seed for Him. Pilgrim s Progress Report Page 2

4 Dallas, TX Pedro Anaya, pastor Please join with Pastor Anaya and congregation as they welcome little Emily Grace, daughter of Freddie and Lydia. Also the granddaughter of proud grandparents the Anayas. Davenport, IA Larry Pettit, pastor We are happy to report that we are able to once again hold Sunday evening services; something we had needed to put on hold as we established our Bible Club. Also, we would like to say 'Happy Birthday' to Sis. Pettit! A surprise birthday get-together was held for her on September 23. Revival is scheduled November 1-6. Bro. Edward Overdorff (from Ohio) will be in charge of the services." Duncan, OK Mike Covington, pastor Greetings, from your friends in Duncan, Ok. This has been a busy month, but we praise the Lord for His help and blessings. We celebrated the home-going of Sis. Modena Patterson at a graveside service here in Duncan. We were happy to entertain Bro. Snodgrass, Bro. and Sis. Tony Ross and Bro. Jamie Loftin, who all came for the service. Bro. Ross officiated. There were at least 65 people gathered there to pay their respects to Sis. Patterson. We saw several old friends who we hadn t seen for many years. It s good to have Bill and Betty Covington back from Idaho where they visited their daughter, Becky, and her family. Come visit us if you can. Indianapolis, IN David Seeley, pastor Prayer Station brings new family to church! On September 23, 2011 Pastor David Seeley and S.S. Sup. Adam Price set up the Prayer Station in downtown Indianapolis by the Indianapolis canal. They spent nearly two hours and prayed with numerous people. One newlywed couple expressed great interest in what we had to say. They had only been married a week and were looking for a good church. The man is a German immigrant and his wife is Caribbean. They came to church the following Sunday and were well received by the people. They ate lunch at the parsonage and expressed thankfulness for the warmness of the people. They visited another church the next Sunday and declared it was a waste of time. They came back to our church the following Sunday and said they plan to make this their church! The first Sunday they came to the altar and asked the pastor to pray that God will give them a long lasting marriage and direction to live their lives God s way! Thanks be to God! Jasper, AL David Fogleman Jr., pastor The dates for our fall revival have changed. It will be held from October Rev. Mike Pepple will be the evangelist. Please remember Effie Phillips in your prayers. She had a heart attack and was hospitalized. She is now home and recuperating. We have been emphasizing prayer and soul searching. We are expecting God to manifest Himself in our revival. Everyone is welcome to join us! Pleasant Grove, AL Robert Jones, pastor Greetings from the heart of Dixie! Our hearts were blessed with the preaching of Bro. Paul Pierpoint in each service of our recent revival. It was such an honor to have Sis. Pierpoint with him as well. During the meeting we had several Pilgrim s Progress Report Page 4

5 visitors and felt the Lord touch on our hearts. As the revival came to a close, there was a common commitment among the congregation to continue to fight the good fight and an individual pledge to do more for God in the days to come. Until next time Sherman, TX David Taylor, pastor It was a blessing to read the news from the other churches. So refreshing to read how God is answering prayers for other. We have enjoyed wonderful services since our last report. God is real in our midst and honoring Him is a great joy. Brother Taylor has been bringing some heart searching messages, we do appreciate his faithful ministry. Work on the new parsonage is progressing and is now ready for brick. We are thankful for the volunteers who have worked so faithfully on this project. May God bless them! Our guest list this past month has been very encouraging; the Randy Rhodes family, the Lee Brown family, Sister Bonnie Sarver, Darla and Katelyn Kimball, Judy Davis, and James Kimberlin all attended some of our services. Bethany Griggs graduated high school and she brings our recent graduate total up to three, which is exciting for the young people at our church. The annual Moore Hayride will be on November 4th at 5:30 p.m. at the Moore farm. Everyone is invited! Come for an evening of singing around the campfire, an inspiring devotional, lots of food, fun, and fellowship. Topped off with a great hayride that all ages can go on. Ya ll come!! Our heart s desire is to live close to the Lord, and see all others saved and ready for the rapture, may God bless everyone! Westlake, LA Ken Adamson, pastor Recently the local paper (Westlake News) featured the Westlake PNC sign on the front page of the Saturday issue. Pilgrim s Progress Report Congratulations to Pastor Adamson for some free publicity! Whitehouse TX Dennis Cable, pastor Recently we enjoyed a good message from our missionary brother from Mexico whose wife was martyred last spring. Please pray for wisdom and safety for him, his family, and his church people. Cynthia Palacios is forming a "Good News Club" at the public elementary school where she teaches. She and students will be meeting after school on Mondays. We have begun extra prayer meetings and God is blessing. After church last night (10/2) we had a prayer meeting which lasted for nearly an hour. We are looking forward to revival with Troy Truitt October Special Note to Pastors We need a few things from you: Assign a reporter to send a monthly report to pncgs1@gmail.com by the first Monday of each month. Distribute the among your people. If you would rather that we send it, please me the addresses and I will send it directly. Comments & Suggestions welcome! Page 5
