Box 26 Mesilla, NM Basilica de San Albino Council # New Mexico District 13 San Albino Knight Brothers, Ladies, Family & Friends, As we prepare to enter into Lent, I would like to keep the council advised of some of our major upcoming projects: Seminarian Support - The council has voted to support Brother Will Contreras with our seminarian support award for the year. Please continue to pray for Will as he continues with his preparations in seminary. Ultrasound Machine Donation - The council took up donations in the amount of $450 to send to a crisis pregnancy support center (Project Defending Life) in Albuquerque. The donation will help the statewide Knights of Columbus council to provide an ultrasound machine to Project Defending Life, which will, God willing, save innocent lives in our state. If you would like to contribute to the ultrasound machine donation as well please get in touch with me. March Family Gathering and Rosary & Novena for Life - In March, Brother Sol and Lady Emily will be hosting the council for a Family Gathering and Rosary. We will also use that evening to start a Novena of prayers for Life. Date is still TBD but keep an eye out for more information. Additionally, the parish continues with its Project Oak Tree efforts to provide Christian hospitality to refugees as they make their way to their sponsors throughout the country. Each month on the second and fourth Tuesdays a group of refugees will be dropped off at the church. There we will provide them meals, clothing, showers, transportation services, and lodging for a night. This is a very large project and will only be successful if we have large participation throughout the parish. If you can help in any way, please reach out either to myself or to the parish office at Please note that any volunteers for Project Oak Tree will need Safe Environment / Virtus training on file. You can register at: and select the Diocese of Las Cruces for local class options. Finally, a few weeks ago a Knight Alert letter went out to those brothers who we have not heard from regarding dues. For those of you still wanting to be involved in KofC, if you receive a Knight Alert letter, please contact myself ( dduffin@alumni.nd.edu or call ) or Financial Secretary Patrick Lujan (pmlujan@q.com). The officers want it to be made clear that we are not looking to remove any Brothers who want to be part of the council whether or not they can pay dues; however, we can only help if we hear back from you! 3 Knights of Columbus Insurance Corner Plan for This Tax Day and Into the Future Brothers, Ladies, and families, April 15 (tax day) is right around the corner. It s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into an existing account, as a tax-savings vehicle. One report highlighted our council s service & contributions during the past calendar year. The other report was on our current financial position. I d like to summarize those reports here so you all can get an idea of how much we help our community with the limited resources we have available to us.
