It is a busy time for our council, we have a fund raiser this week end, we have a first degree with seven new men interested in joining our council. And we have some new leadership with Larry Loftus taking on the role of Financial Secretary. We will also be beginning our process of nominating the officers who will lead our council next fraternal year. If you are interested in taking on an active 1 role in the council now is the time to visit with our Trustees. I appreciate everyone s support, this has been a busy year with the move to our beautiful new sanctuary and our new meeting place. I have chosen a Brother Knight as Knight of the month, he has done exactly what I have been asking of all my brother Knights that is step up and be an active member of our council by taking on the very demanding role as Financial secretary, Larry Loftus is my May Knight of the month. My family of the month has been involved not only with the Knights at a council level but as a chapter level and with many charitable organizations he was the first knight to ask me to get involved with this council when I transferred in 4 years ago. The Family of the Month is the Mallory s.. Many thanks to Bruce and his wife for their unselfish work for our faith. 2 Samaritan House Bruce Mallory FEBRUARY EARNEST and DENISE CLEMONS Earnest has been a Knight for 4 years being recruited by Charlie Parr and Steve Gonzales. He is a 4 th degree Knight. He and Denise met when they were introduced. by a mutual friend.. They were both raised in the DFW area. They have been at St Thomas for 5 years where Earnest is an acolyte and Denise is a greeter and usher... He has worked at TXU energy for 31 years and Denise has worked at Cook s Children s hospital for 20 years.. They have two sons and 2 grandchildren MARCH JIM and JOANNE WILCOX Jim has been our council advocate for many years. And has been a Knight for 46 years.. He and Joanne met in San Antonio at a bowling alley where there were co-ed teams. One team didn t have enough men so Jim joined them. Joanne was also on the team. He was attracted to her and the rest is history. They have 2 sons and 2 daughters. One son (James) is a priest and director of vocations for the Ft. Worth Diocese. They ve been married 53 years and have 5 grandchildren.. They joined St Thomas in where Jim is head of the greeter committee and a lector. Joanne is a Eucharistic minister. Jim sold hardware for many years and is now semiretired working 2 days a week. Joanne plays bridge 3 days a week and Jim golfs. They just returned from a trip to Ireland where Jim enjoyed playing golf on a very old golf course which was in good shape thankfully. MARCH BOB DOWNES Bob had been a Knight since He s been in Ft. Worth for 25 years and is retired. He worked in construction management.. he s been at St Thomas for 10 years where he is a greeter and works in the food pantry..he is committed to our council attending most meetings and does the highway cleanup. He was born and raised in Los Angeles. He came to Ft Worth in 1957 because of his job. 3 Thought for April Easter is coming. It is the greatest t Holy Day of the Church, more important than Christmas. If you think about it, you see that it is the most wonderful sign of hope for us. The one who founded our Church, the one we believe in proved he was God. Only God has the power over death. We all will die eventually. We should hold that thought. On our deathbed, if we were president it will mean nothing unless we did God s will. If we were a billionaire it will mean nothing unless we gave it away to those who needed it. On our deathbed nothing will matter except how we loved God and our neighbor. When you think of things in this way you see what is truly important. It s good to enjoy the things that God had put on this earth. In fact we need them. But we must properly balance our life between God and earth. And it is not proper to ignore God. His love for us is far greater than any love we have for family. So accept His love and love Him back by thinking of Him often, and talking to Him in prayer as you would a brother or good friend (which He is). When you see earth s beauty in a sunset or a small child or a flower, remember to thank Him for all the good things He has given you.
