I mean, really, haven't we had enough snow, already!! OK, I feel better now...and I know, with Easter upon us, Spring must be around the corner. On behalf of the entire Board of Officers of Division 1, I want to wish all a very blessed Easter. As we leave the month of March behind, we can be very pleased with our St. Patrick's season this year. We had a nice, albeit small, turnout for the NYC Parade, and a very enjoyable bus trip to and from NYC. Thanks to Tom McCarthy for his usual great work arranging the bus and I encourage everyone to consider coming along next year. Although I was unable to join you at the Mid-Hudson Parade this year, I understand it was a great march in Goshen, behind our Worthy Aide Neil O'Riordan. Congratulations to the AOH Pipes and Drums, which was selected best unit in the Parade! And, the After Party at the Hall was a great success, thanks to our Bar-Master Ken Quinn and his great staff of assistants. Finally, for the first time in our recent and perhaps collective memory, Division 1 was honored to escort the AOH Pipes and Drums at the Pearl River Parade. A great time was had by all. Your Board continues to work on upcoming events and continued improvements to our Division. I want to thank all of our Board officers for their tireless work in support of all of our activities and needs, and a special thanks to newlyelected Vice President Tommy Flynn. In his short tenure, he has made his presence felt and I sincerely thank him for all he has been doing for all of us...failte ar bord Leas-Uachtaran fiu!

2 In no particular order, here is the latest from the desk of the President of Division 1: 2015 Dues are in Order and if you have not done so, please remit your dues right away! Remember, you need to be paid to be a member in Good Standing! Thanks to the 10 Brothers who have paid into the Building Fund by paying $100 for their dues this year. Thanks to such support, and the effective financial management of the JDJ Corporation, we are able to look at great improvements such as our new ADA compliant restroom in the rear of the Hall. Thanks to Brother Brendan O'Dowd for all his hard work on this project. Thanks to Brother Keith Reynolds, our Quartermaster (and Worthy NYS District Director!), the Division now has patches available for members who are interested in purchasing green jackets. See us at the April meeting for a patch ($10), and then you will go to Warwick Monogramming which can obtain the jacket for you and embroider your name. Cost of the jacket is approximately $85 (plus $10 for the patch as noted.) The Bethel Woods Raffle is going very well and we are almost sold out of the 300 tickets! If you don't have a ticket and want one, please see the Bartender on Duty. Please note that due to a scheduling conflict we will be pulling the winning ticket at the Mother's Day Brunch at the Hall on May 10th (not at the May 8th Division Meeting.) However, all tickets must be in by Sunday, May 3rd! Congratulations to Brother Jim Kelly, who was unanimously voted as our Division nominee for Life Membership. I will be proposing his candidacy at the NYS Board Meeting in East Durham on May 2nd. I will keep the Division informed of progress on his candidacy. Congratulations to the Irish Basketball Team, which comported itself proudly in the 3rd Annual Charity Basketball Game in Goshen on March 28th. Although the outcome was a loss, it was only by a single basket in a hard fought contest that saw the Irish come back from a substantial halftime deficit. Wait 'til next year! The Division is in receipt of 10 raffle tickets from the NYS Board, raising funds to support educational and commemorative events in connection with the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising of I will have these available for purchase at the April meeting, they are $10, and the prize is 2 round trip tickets to Ireland! Special Notes on Upcoming Events: Friday, April 10th, 7 PM will be the JDJ Quarterly Meeting and Election. A total of 4 Board positions are available, two, two year positions and two, one year positions. Any Brother in Good Standing interested in running may submit a Letter of Intent to Tom Keahon by 7 PM April 10th. There will be no nominations from the floor of the JDJ meeting. Friday, April 10th will be our April Monthly Meeting. Saturday, April 18th at 7PM will be a Night at the Races sponsored by the Fleming Scholarship Committee. This is a great event, lots of fun and even if you cannot make the races you can sponsor a horse or a race. Please see Chris DeBold or Don Higgins for details! Tuesday, April 21 will be a Republic Day lecture at the Hudson Valley Irish Center/Westchester Division 18 Hall. Anyone interested in attending, please contact me for details. Friday, May 8th will be the May Division Meeting Sunday May 10th will be the LAOH Mother's Day Brunch at the Hall. Please see details elsewhere in this newsletter.

3 Saturday, May 16th will be the AOH Orange County Convention. We will need help preparing the hall for this event and I request brothers available for a work party on Friday, May 15th to advise me. Congratulations to our delegates who will be representing the Division, including your Board of Officers and Rob Ronayne, Mike Flannery, John DeCourcey (the Younger), Jim Quinn, Ken Quinn, Jim Kelly and Don Higgins. Sunday, June 14th will be the Joseph Duelk Mass. We will assemble at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville at 11:40 AM for a 12 Noon Mass. Immediately thereafter we will travel to St. Mary's Cemetery for a Wreath Laying Ceremony, and then return to the Hall for a collation. Thanks to Tom Flynn and Jack McCabe for their efforts on this commemoration of our Division's namesake, Joe Duelk, Jr., who fell during his service to our Country in the Viet Nam War. Please attend this Mass. Joe died for his Country and for all of us...can you take the time out to honor his memory? My hope is that you can, and will. Let's have 100 Green Jackets this year! Saturday, June 20th will be the first-ever Celtic Festival at Palaia Vineyard in Highland Mills, Route 32. Noon to 6 PM. Please see the flyer in this newsletter. We have partnered with Palaia and have been providing advice and counsel in their preparations, and they have been wonderful partners. We will be needing volunteers to man our AOH tent and sell 50/50 tickets to benefit the OC AOH and its Divisions, as well as man the Ticket Booth at the entrance to the festival. If anyone has a young man interested in earning $50 for the day to assist in parking cars, please advise me, we will be needing two car parkers. Well, that is certainly enough for now! Please come down to the Hall for a Pint after Easter, and support our events...surely you can find one that fits your calendar and your interests! Again, a very Happy Easter to all. He is Risen! Anderson President, Division 1 PEC Report Just a few little wrinkles in the Anglophile North to cause unwanted mayhem in the occupied areas in case anyone was thinking of enjoying St. Patrick's day. It seems that the First Minister Peter Robinson announced that he does not plan on attending the White House Gala along with First Deputy Martin McGuinness as they set forth on a Trade mission. On top of that, Mr. Robinson and his cohorts have attempted to water down the agreement that they agreed to at Stormont a scant month ago. This effort to diminish the Welfare part of agreement cannot be allowed to carry since it would effect the poorest and the disabled and the unemployed. The latter being what brought about the original dispute in the 60s & 70s. Unless this can be ironed out we are back to the stalemate that has lasted for the last two years if not the eventual violence that this intransigence produced not so long ago. Let's hope that common sense prevails!
