Windham, William Howe Barningham Northwood 12 April 1836 Landowner 1802 Born at Westminster. Lord of the Manor of Barningham Norwood. Was a Whig MP in the early 1830s. Succeeded to the Felbrigg estate on the death of his father Vice-Admiral William Windham (formerly Lukin) in High Sheriff of Norfolk Father of William Frederick 'Mad' Windham. 22 Dec Died at his residence in Berkeley Square, Mr. William Howe Windham, of Felbrigg Hall. He was one of the representatives of the Eastern Division of Norfolk in 1832, when he was returned with the Hon. George Keppel, their opponents being Lord Henry Cholmondeley and Mr. Nathaniel Peach. In 1835 he came forward with Mr. R. H. Gurney, in opposition to Mr. Edmond Wodehouse and Lord Walpole, when the two last named were returned. In 1837 another election occurred, when Lord Walpole having retired, Mr. H. N. Burroughes was brought forward in conjunction with Mr. Wodehouse. Mr. Windham and Mr. Gurney, who opposed them, were again unsuccessful. Mr. Windham, who was a staunch Whig, was the oldest son of Vice-Admiral Windham (formerly Lukin), who took the name and arms in pursuance of the will of his uncle, the Right Hon. William Windham, in 1824, on succeeding to the estate on the death of Mrs. Windham. On the decease of his father, the Admiral, Mr. Windham succeeded to the Felbrigg property. He married, in 1835, Lady Sophia Hervey, daughter of the Marquis of Bristol, by whom he had one son, then in his fourteenth year. Mr. Windham died at the age of 53. 3 Sandford, Henry Cromer 3 April 1837 Coal Merchant & General Agent 1798 Born at Weybourne. Married Mary Watson Stephenson in Lived in Church Street (south side). Also farmed 20 acres (1851). Died Owned a coalyard and meadow on the corner of The Gangway and East St. He lived in a house called the Beeches opposite the Albion Hotel. Owned the coal ship "Commerce". "Jarrolds of Norwich, Lloyds Bank and Dantetre House. were built on the site of the house called 'The Beeches' and its garden, which ran from the house up to the G.P.O. The 'Beeches' belonged to Mr Henry Sandford, and the property, apart from this large frontage in Church Street, ran back to, what is now, Mount Street, and consisted of another garden at the rear of the house, stables, Coach House, Barn and Bullocks Yard. His son, W. George Sandford lived there with the Misses Sandford, and carried on the business. He was also Lloyds Agent, and the Hon. Secretary of the Local Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for many years. He first introduced Crab Pots into Cromer, having seen them in use on the South Coast, and brought one back with him. His business address was Mickleborough House in High Street. He married, and moved away to No. 5 Brunswick Crescent. After he moved away from 'The Beeches', his Uncle, Mr George Sandford, a Chemist from London, came to live there. In due course, Mr. W.G. Sandford married a second time, and then moved to Colne Lodge, in Louden Road (now the site of the Telephone Exchange) until his death in Early in 1900 'The Beeches' was demolished. The last mention of the Sandfords is of a Miss Sandford as the sole occupant in 1899, after which she lived at Jetty Cottage until her death." 8 Bolding, William Johnson Jennis Weybourne 6 Nov 1848 (see note) Farmer & brewer 1815 There are several entries in the list of attendees prior to this date (from 24 April 1848) for J. Bolding - probably an error by the Clerk. Took over business interests from his father when latter died in Crown & Anchor Street. Born at Weybourne. Unmarried Landed proprietor, farmer (194 acres, 11 labourers) and brewer (employing 3 men). His other occupatiuons were ship-owner (the schooner Enterprise ), photographer and arachaeologist.
