Yet it was some sixty years ago that the dream of a United Methodist Facility to help people age with grace was founded. That dream has become ten (10) independent living and assisted living communities with special care for those with specialized geriatric needs like Parkinson s and Alzheimer s diseases. During those same sixty (60) years our congregation has celebrated each Mother s Day with a special offering for the seventy-five (75) percent of Wesley Homes residents who are dependent on financial assistance. This year we will celebrate the ministries of Wesley Woods with our communion offering on Sunday, June 1 at both worship times. Your bulletin on June 1 will include an envelope for your tax-deductible offering. In advance, thank you for your generous support of this most important ministry! LOOKING FOR A BIBLE STUDY? David Bowen is pleased to offer a new United Methodist Bible Study called Christian Believer beginning in September of this year. This is a thirty (30) week Bible Study that uses a workbook (just like the Disciple Classes). It also utilizes a resource book of the writings of the Fathers and Mothers (like Wesley, Harkness, Augustine, and Tillich) of our faith from the last two thousand (2000) years. The classes will be meeting on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the 16 Cherry Street Offices. It is critical and really important that you contact David as soon as possible to reserve your place and your workbook. 2 Family Night Supper Thank you to all the kitchen crews and helpers that made the Winter and Spring Family Night Suppers successful! We will start Family Night Supper again in September! See you then! ~ Carol McFadden Hannah Circle will meet on June 17th for a Luncheon at Martha Sandford s home. Circle 5 will meet on June 17th at 7:00 pm. Circle 3 will not meet during the months of June or July. Thanks to everyone who made the cake auction a fantastic success! Information about the Back-to-School Bash will be included in the July Newsletter! Mother s Day Bulletins A big thank you to all who participated in the UMW Mother s Day bulletins. Your participation helps fund special mission projects such as VBS and Camp Glisson Scholarships. Attention All Ladies: Father s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 15 th. As is our honored tradition, the ladies will make up the Father s Day choir. We will meet at 10:00 on the morning of June 15th to practice for the 11:00am service. PLEASE make plans to join the choir that day, ladies! Father s Day Tradition... All men are encouraged to wear their ugliest tie on Father s Day! We have had some real winners in the past! Start looking through the back of the closet for that UGLY tie that you ve been pretending you lost and plan to join in the fun on Father s Day. Financial Update: Receipts as of April 30, 2014 $125, Expenses as of April 30, 2014 $143, Deficit $ 17, Mark you calendars for a church wide day of mission. We will be spending the day on Saturday, June 21st at Jubilee Partners. Jubilee Partners is an international Christian service community in Comer, Georgia. Their primary ministry is offering hospitality to newly arrived refugees. We will be helping with light construction, cleaning, and whatever else they might need to ready their houses for incoming refugees. They have invited us to share lunch and devotion with them that day. More information to come. On Sunday, June 29 at the 11:00am worship time, we will have our patriotic service. We encourage everyone to come with a special invitation to veterans.

Our Next Challenge: June 8th Peanut Butter and Jelly Also, there is always a need for breakfast food and Instant Potatoes. 5 CHILDREN S MINISTRY It s Summer and the schedule is.busy!! It s finally here Weird Animals VBS begins on Sunday, June 1 st and continues through Thursday, June 5 th!! Here s the basic schedule: Registration is in the gym and begins at 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 1 st. Save some time standing in line by registering the kids on-line at: During registration, Children will meet their Zoo Crew Leader and will pick up their nametags as well as information for the upcoming days. Dinner will be served Sunday through Wednesday. Children and VBS volunteers will move to the Family Life Center at 5:30 for some yummy food. Sing and Play Stampede begins at 6:00 in the Sanctuary Children will have fun and learn about God s Love through One of a Kind Bible Adventures, Imagination Station Crafts, Untamed Games and KidVid Cinema. The Tail End session of the day begins in the Sanctuary at 7:45. Children can be picked up at the ramp located at the Sanctuary back door at 8:00 pm. Thursday Night is Family Night families will enjoy a hotdog dinner and be treated to songs and a slide show of VBS highlights. When we recover from all the VBS excitement, we begin our Sunday School Summer Camp. Our regular Sunday school teachers are getting a summer break and we have invited Special Guest Teachers to join us during the regular Sunday school hour. Keep your eye on the bulletins and check your inbox for the Special Guest of the Week! Sneak Peek: Kids will participate in a really cool science experiment, will learn about honey bees, will learn how they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and will create fun crafts. Summer Camp begins on June 15 th! Commerce City Fireworks will be held on Saturday, June 28 th. Join us at 6:00 pm for a family cookout in the Family Life Center and then play games on the lawn. Fireworks are at dusk. Call the office at (706) to let us know you are coming. Bring your lawn chairs and bug spray!! 6 SHOW GOD S LOVE Great Day of Service 2014 Coming soon, our third annual Great Day of Service. During the last two do you remember the homeless man looking for his next meal that you provided, the child experiencing Vacation Bible School for the first time, the woman needing to feed her family that day? And just think of the joy you gave to the service men and women who got your letters of thanks AND much more! You have answered the prayers of so many! This year our Great Day of Service will be held on Saturday, September 6. Details will be forthcoming. For now, SAVE THE DATE and get ready to continue to show God s love to His people! Youth News VBS is June 1-5. The youth will be helping with various areas of VBS. If you're interested, please let me know or you can contact Gina Hagan to sign up. VBS theme is Weird Animals. Dinner begins at 5:30, VBS is 6-8. Youth Summer Retreat Epworth by the Sea July I need to know by June 5 if you are able to attend. It will be a time of Bible Study, fellowship & recreation. Hope you'll be able to join us!! Sun. June 8 Swim Party & Supper at K.Ellen's house. More details to follow. We will be scheduling several mission projects and outings.
