2 A Few Words from Your E.R. Greetings Summer is closely upon us; the travelers are beginning to fill our camp sites and the club is seeing more attendees for our dinner meals. With that said I would like to express a thanks to all involved in making this Lodge a success. It takes commitment on the part of our volunteers to make things happen. That being said; I would like of speak two words; Courtesy and Expectations. We all expect to be treated with courtesy by others in social or work situations. Unfortunately, we have lost volunteers in our lodge because of unkind words from others. This may happen offhandedly or a direct comment to instruct another without having the responsibility to do so. Feelings get hurt and another volunteer fails to return. Expectations, Webster defines it as an act or state of expecting; that which is or may fairly be expected. Our paid personnel have the responsibility to provide service in a prompt friendly manner, whether in the office, officers or at the club house. Sometimes that does not meet with the expectation of our members. Please consider the tasks our officers and personnel are required to do and give a little room before your disappointed becomes an issue. On a more positive note, the Queen of Spades game ended May 15 th. With a cash prize of Eight hundred eleven dollars paid to the finder. A new game is now up and running as tickets and drawing are held on Tuesday (hamburger) nights. Cash prizes starts at $100.00s and will continue to grow until the Queen of Spades is found. If you would like to volunteer for anything, please let the office know. Don t forget to mail your dues. They were due April 1 st. The weather has been great. Flowers are blooming everywhere. Sandy put in some nice planters and plants here at the Lodge. They look really nice. Unfortunately, someone stole 1 of them. Thanks Sandy for your hard work. We will be doing a Father s Day Service. Grand Lodge has added that to their Ritual Services. Mark your calendars for a July 4 th celebration. There will be no meeting that night because of the holiday. We want to wish all the Fathers a Very Happy Father s Day. Approximately 500 veterans received various services such as medical and dental exams, haircuts, veterinary services, job offers from a variety of employers, surplus items, etc. The Elks sponsor this event each year with funds from grants from ENF, the Idaho State Elks Association and the Coeur d Alene Lodge Left to right: DDGER Fred Barrett (Montana); Teresa Shaw; PSP Steve Meier (Idaho); Loyal Knight Debbi Nadrchal; PSP Dan Lowe (Oregon); Lodge Secretary, Bev Barrett (Montana); Jan Lowe (Oregon); and PER Pat Braden (Idaho) ******** 3Cs May Luncheon Today, 5/9/18 was the 3Cs luncheon. Joan Braden is the chair for this monthly luncheon and this month her helpers were Dick Gardner, Phillis Mixon, Connie Hull, Shaaron Dominquez, Karen Magner, Phyllis and Chuck Edlund and Arlene Wendell. Fraternally, Debbi Nadrchal Loyal Knight Today, 66 ladies enjoyed a delicious Taco Salad. Desserts were delicious Marquireta cakes made by Shaaron Dominquez, Connie Hull and Phillis Mixon. $72.00 in tips went to the Dictionary Fund. Judy Gardner, Report Writer

4 At the last lodge meeting Secretary Mary Lou Riley gave PER Pat Braden his Thank You for Great Service as Exalted Ruler Plague also pictured is Esquire Bob Brower. Bill Sawyer took the mowers for their yearly tune-up and when we got them back they worked great until Jay Thompson had his run with the black one. It went back to the shop, but shouldn t be in sick-bay long. Many thanks to Judy Gardner for planting the flowers at the camp-ground entrance. Thanks to our 1 st month of camp-ground host, Bill Sawyer, Chuck Wideen, Jay Thompson and Chip Wideen. It may be early but mark December 18 on your calendar for our annual Christmas dinner at Avondale Country Club. Our monthly meetings have been lively so come out, have a burger and a beer and plan to attend the monthly Kamper Klub meeting. We won t hold you up past Sawyer s bed time. Chuck Wideen, President (208) ******** Elks Kamper Klub News It is almost June already and we have only gone on one camp-out. The June camp-out will be in Blue Lake which is between Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint. Joan tells me they only have water and elect. Left. Their number is The July camp-out is at Deer Park. I had a heck of a time getting through to them on the 800 number, so I found a local number, They are expecting us and awaiting your call for a reservation. If you got a reservation before this, please give them another call to be sure you end up in our block of spaces. I am trying to make arrangements for our August camp-out at Two-Rivers RV Park. More about this later. Our Treasury is solid, so we are making improvements to the campground with two horse shoe pits and a cabana with a cement floor. Later on, we will be bringing water and electric to the site. This will enhance our campground giving R/Vers something to do while here. LODGE HONORS MOM ON HER SPECIAL DAY Elks Lodge #1254 held its Annual Ritual celebrating Mothers, living and departed. Moms were given roses by the Exalted Ruler as they entered the lodge room prior to the ceremony. After a free brunch was given to the moms attending the event. 5 STATE OFFICERS VISIT LODGE On Mother s Day Weekend, the lodge was paid a visit by officers from Idaho, Montana and Oregon. On Saturday they joined other lodge volunteers at the Veterans Stand Down Event assisting at the lodge table and work with the other volunteers performing security service for the event. They joined the lodge the next day at the Mother s Day ritual program celebrating moms, and then attended the brunch that was served free to the mother s attending. Volunteers are always needed. Come and participate in your Lodge. There will be a Dinner and Dance for the B-17 Flight Crew on July 13 th. A Tri-tip dinner provided by the Gardner s later on in the summer and an Oktoberfest dinner in October. Also, rumored is a Fall Fashion Show in the fall with some very attractive models highlighting the event. In your Service: Jerry Lone - chairperson; Debbi Nadrchal Vice chair; Chuck Edlund; Mike Quinn and Nadine Aiello Members of Coeur d Alene Lodge 1254 received a Beason Grant to build and plant vegetables in garden planters at both the Coeur d Alene and Post Falls Boys and Girls Clubs as part of their Farm to Table program. Some of the kids from the clubs had a great time learning how to build the planters and then planting vegetables that they will care for over the next few months with the help of some members of the Coeur d Alene Lodge.
