1 Warm Hearts ~ Warm Babies News Volume 14, Issue 2 February 2013 Roving Volunteer Hi Everyone, Baby Ella Happy Valentine s Day! Time to start making outfits for spring with lighter weight pants and sweaters. Summer will be here soon so start thinking about summer clothes too. We still need tote bags, both boy and girl. Bottles, pacifiers, and toiletries are always needed, as well as socks. Love, Baby Ella Volunteers Needed Volunteers needed for the Annual Rocky Mountain Sew Expo from 10-5 on February 7-9. Contact Glenda Bredeson if you are available to volunteer and the time slots that are open Hi, this is your Roving Volunteer. I like checking out what is new with Warm Hearts Warm Babies. I recently got a chance to see the Baby House in Arvada. Wow, is that a nice place! The day that I visited baby Ella was napping, so I didn't disturb her. It took two volunteers and a dolly to bring in a donation from a church group. It was like Christmas! Opening up all the boxes to see what had been given was so much fun. I learned that everything is greatly appreciated and will be used, eventually. There were so many colorful hats and booties of all different sizes! Some ladies had been mightily busy! I asked what was critically needed and was told socks (where have I heard that before?), Tote bags, and afghans or quilts. The ladies thought they had enough hats and matching booties for awhile. Everything was sorted and stored in clear plastic bins ready for orders and distribution. Orders had just gone out for January and the blanket shelves were looking low. I was impressed how organized everything was (wish my sewing/yarn room looked as good!). Well, that is all for now. I maybe coming to your work group soon. Bye! 1

Here are some interesting trivia tidbits about the blustery often harsh 2nd month of the year on the modern calendar. It is named after the Roman god Februus. The Latin root word februa means purification; and the Romans held their celebration of purification during the time of the month February. The Welsh originally called the second month of the year y mis bach meaning the little month. During the time of Shakespeare it was called Feverell. The flower of this month is a violet or sometimes a primrose and the birthstone is amethyst (which represents sincerity). Three big holidays are held in February: Groundhog s day (2nd), St. Valentine s Day (14th) and President s day (3rd Monday) Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and help them become what they are capable of being 3
