2 Living the Jesus Way One of the great gifts our present Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, is offering the Episcopal Church is a renewal of our vision and understanding of what it means to be a people who follow Jesus. It seems obvious that following Jesus would be what Christians are about, but in the midst of the many concerns, ideas, and cultural shifts we face in our day, it is easy to lose sight of the central call on our lives as baptized people: to follow Jesus. Bishop Curry has produced several videos, books, preaching events (including revival services) and other resources to assist the Church re-center ourselves as unapologetic, intentional people of the Jesus Movement. He uses the term Jesus Movement to help us understand that Christian faith is not primarily institutional, but a God-centered spiritual movement that transforms individuals thinking and actions. It draws individuals into dynamic bodies of people who are inspired and committed to studying the Way of Jesus, discipling themselves in the Way of Jesus, and encouraging each other to faithfully live and act in ways that represent the character of Jesus. As a Christian Education/Faith Formation opportunity for our parish and those of our surrounding community I am planning to offer Living the Jesus Way: An Overview of Christian Faith and Practice in the Episcopal Church. This ten-part series is scheduled for most Sundays during Lent and Eastertide for about 30 minutes following the Sunday Eucharist (and brief Coffee Hour). While it is intended for all, it will be of particular benefit for those preparing for Confirmation, Reception into the Episcopal Church, or Reaffirmation. Classes will begin Sunday, March 10 and end Sunday, June 2 (with a few breaks in between). Please do plan to attend. May this coming Lent and Easter Seasons be ones of healthy spiritual growth and further formation into the Jesus Way for us all. Yours in the work of Christ and his Church, Fr. Masud+

The first of weekly programs after church through the season of Lent focusing on Living the Jesus Way: Overview of Christian Faith & Practice in the Episcopal Church 3/18/2019 Vestry meeting at 6:00 p.m. 3/24/2019 Recovery Ministry Event after coffee hour. Mary E. Cody, Ph.D. will present a talk on how nutrition affects your ability to recover and prevent addictions. Q&A follows. 3/27/2019 Ecumenical Taizé Evening Prayer, with reception following. Prayer service starts at 7:00 p.m. but come early at 6:30 p.m. for the special guitar and flute performance (see article below) 3/30/2019 Parish Leadership Planning Day with Canon Mark Furlow. 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 4/7/2019 Annual Eucharist and Breakfast with the Masons. Church service starts at 9:00 a.m. with breakfast following at the Masonic Lodge in Tivoli. Flute and Guitar to Perform at the Ecumenical Lenten Service at St. Paul s & Trinity Church on March 27 David Temple, the area s leading classical guitarist and President of the Hudson Valley Classical Guitar Society, will be joining us along with a flautist from Bard College. The prelude music starts at 6:40 PM. The performers will also support the singing of Taizé music led by Father Masud. If you know David Temple from the Rhinebeck Center for the Performing Arts and enjoy classical church music for flute and guitar, please come early. An evening of very beautiful and meditative music is in store for all! Submitted by Jim Stewart Carousel Business The Carousel Community Outreach Thrift Shop always accepts donations. They can be dropped off during shop hours: Saturdays 10-1 and Wednesdays 3:30-6:30. Any gently used clothing, footwear, toys, and household goods are always welcome. Many thanks. 8 Sunday School Started on February 17 th. What a joy to welcome Caleb & Cameron Hildenbrand, Avery Marsh, and Abigail Bard to our new Sunday School program. These children are such a blessing to have in our parish family. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to our teachers: to our teacher assistants: Sue Crane Deb Gruntler Audrey Smith Jeanie Bard Michelle Hoffman Sharon Warnefeld Leigh Knickerbocker Ava DeBono and to Father Masud for his children's sermon. Dear parishioners, If you know of any children between the ages of 5-10 please invite them to our Sunday School on any Sunday. By using the biblical videos, it's possible for a child to come and join us at anytime and not feel left behind. Together we're learning the stories in the bible, how God loves each of us, and how to pray. Class begins at 9:50 am. Submitted by, Leigh Knickerbocker Mission and Outreach Now through March 17 th we will be collecting clean warm clothing for Taking It To The Streets for the homeless in Poughkeepsie. Even though Spring is coming it s still very cold in the evenings. Please consider donating any of your unneeded men's and women's clean warm winter clothes, gloves, hats, socks, warm blankets, and sleeping bags are most needed. Socks are a huge necessity as they serve a dual purpose for both feet and hands. Ruth Anderson serves the homeless in the Poughkeepsie area. We continue to collect

9 hotel toiletries, single serving pop lid cans of tuna fish, fruit cups, and healthy snack bars for these very needy folks. The collection box is in Memorial Hall. RECIPE OF THE MONTH Beginning this month, our newsletter will feature a recipe and grace submitted by our readers for our readers. This delicious looking dish and thoughtful grace was submitted by Mary Cody. If you have a recipe that just won t quit and a grace that you like, please send it in for next month s issue. BK From the rich earth that nourished the plants to the skill of the cheese makers and farmers that made this meal possible I thank you Lord. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F Ingredients: six shallots or one large sweet onion Olive oil Fontina cheese..1 cup shredded Mushrooms..1 cup sliced Italian seasoning or Herbs de Provence 1 tsp. Sprinkle of red pepper flakes 1/2 bag of store bought pizza dough Shallot and Mushroom Pizza Oil your hands and stretch pizza dough to edges of iron 10 inch iron skillet Let rest while you saute the shallots or onions and mushrooms until soft in 1 tbsp olive oil with seasoning and red pepper flakes. Re-stretch the dough to edge of pan top with the saute ed vegetables and shredded cheese. Bake for 25 minutes
