David presented a very interesting talk on Historical Imagery to Support Boundary Litigation. 3 CLSA East Bay Newsletter Page 3 Meeting Minutes November 9th at Massimo s Ristorante, Walnut Creek 1. Call to Order at 7 PM 2. Introductions 3. Meeting minutes for October, 2011 were amended and approved. 4. Reports a. Treasurer (Dave Murtha): Balance as of October = $ b. Representative (Steve Martin); Topics discussed at board meeting: The CLSA would not like to become a litigious organization, and therefore will not sue public entities for not enforcing state surveying laws. Instead the CLSA would like to adopt standards and encourage public entities to use them. Frank Lehman encourages CLSA members to write their Governor Jerry Brown, asking him to fund travel expenses for members of the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists when attending professional events such as conferences. All CLSA members are encouraged to join the voluntary Professional Development Program. Instructions are on the CLSA website. Some members of the CLSA do not support including unrecorded maps with filed Records of Survey. The proposed legislation related to unrecorded maps was pulled from the docket at this time in order to research copyright issues. Chapter annual reports are due December 31st. 5. Old Business - None 6. New Business a. All East Bay Chapter members are encouraged to volunteer their time in any capacity. We have a number of available volunteer positions available for those who are interested. Participation increases the overall effectiveness of the organization and helps each member achieve his or her professional goals. For additional information contact Frank Borges. b Workshops There will be a workshop in mid January on filing corner records. We are currently looking for a free venue to hold the 1.5 hour workshop. Contact Janine Hampton for more information. Other potential workshops include title research and writing legal descriptions. c. We are currently looking for a volunteer for the LS Review Study Group. 7. Announcements a. Foxmoor (PESI) will be having a webinar at 12:00 noon on Tuesday November 15 on writing surveyors reports. Cost is $89. Contact Michael Cusick for additional information. b. CLSA conference is March 24 through March 28, c. The Bay Bridge Boat Tour is scheduled for May 12. d. Our holiday party will be held at Scotts in Oakland December 14th. 8. Guest Speaker: The guest speaker was David Ruiz, the Manager of Pacific Aerial Surveys. The topic was Historical Imagery to Support Boundary Litigation.
