2 Course/Module description: The course focuses on the concept of Empowerment. It starts with the history and sources of the concept's initiation and continues in conceptualizing and visualizing the three interconnected spheres where the concept is experienced: In the lives of individuals, in the meaningful collective and in the methods of intervention professionals are using. Course/Module aims: To know theories and practice models of empowerment. To understand how to do empowering professional practice, what are the obstacles for implementing such practice and what are the advantages of the approach. To encourage critical and self-aware professional practice. Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: Students will know theories and practice models of empowerment. the students will understand how they can make empowering practice work, and how to avoid disempowering practices and routines. Attendance requirements(%): 80% Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: A frontal lecture with the active participation of the students. Students read for each class, as well as write discussion papers where they raise questions for the class as well as for their own reflection.
