2 Course/Module description: General course in the philosophy of law touching on topics in moral and political philosophy bearing on the law Course/Module aims: Knowledge and appreciation of philosophical issues pertaining to the law Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: Understand the philosophical texts studied and acquire knowledge in the philosophical issues we will discuss. Understanding of the analytical method. Attendance requirements(%): Mandatory Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lecture combined with class discussion Course/Module Content: The list of topics is longer than what we will cover, as our focus will try and fit the students' interests and adjust for the directions we take in class discussion. 1. Is there a duty to obey the law? 2. Legitimate authority 3. Dissent 4. The systematic nature of law 5. Legal interpretation and the nature of law 6. The rule of law 7.
