In this week's sedra Terumoh, we told the children how Moshe received instructions on how to build the Mishkan. This was the original shul of the Jewish People. In fact, our shuls today are made to look like the Mishkan. The Mishkan was a project for all the people so everyone was welcome to donate materials to help build it! Monday: Let s find out what your little ones got up to this weekend! "I went to Ruben's birthday. I ate a big big strawberry mango cake. He is 2. A funny man was really funny and he done this..." THEN A FANTASTIC IMPRESSION OF THE FUNNY MAN PULLING THE FUNNIEST FACES! - Jake S (of course!) "I did go swimming with my daddy. My friend went to. I want to get out the swimming pool and then I go in the shower so I can get all nice and clean!" YOU'RE GOING TO BE A TOP SWIMMER ONE DAY! -Ava "I went to the park. I went on the swing. I climbed up a ladder. I showed my mummy and daddy. They said well done!" AND YOUR TEACHERS ARE SAYING WELL DONE TOO! - Eitan "I went nowhere" YOU REALLY REALLY DO MAKE YOUR TEACHERS LAUGH OUT LOUD! -Benji "I went to the theatre. There was a doggy, birdy and a cat. 2 "At home I helped daddy put the blinds up, then I pulled the curtains and he did some DIY. I played at home with my toys and Olivia" WHAT A HANDY DADDY YOU HAVE! WELL DONE FOR HELPING! - Maya "I went all the way home on my scooter. It's purple. It's raining. I wear my wellie boots. I went in muddy puddles" WOW, SOUNDS LIKE SUPER DOOPER FUN JUMPING IN MUDDY PUDDLES! - Rosie "France, Oui yah in the clouds. Plane went vroom!" HOW EXCITING! - Samuel (Sam Sam) CHILDREN WELL DONE! AND PARENTS, HAVE YOU NOTICED MORE CHILDREN ARE JOINING IN OUR MONDAY MORNING CONVERSATION! GREAT CONFIDENCE, WELL DONE! We asked the children what items they would have liked to donate to help build Hashem's special home, The Mishkan, which was beautiful place made out of precious materials of gold, precious stones and wood... Jake S donated a chocolate cake and a roof, Ava donated the door, a bed and chairs, Maya donated a cup cake, Benji donated a bed and a teddy, Talya donated a table, Joseph donated another teddy, Rosie donated a scooter and Eitan donated a ball and the floor WHAT GREAT DONATIONS CHILDREN! The children were all busy building the Mishkan using our construction area building blocks. They all had their builders tools and off they went banging, screwing, sawing..! Some children even observed health & safety at work rules and had their hard hats on! CAUTION...CHILDREN AT WORK! GREAT JOB CHILDREN! Tuesday: We have started learning about Purim with the children. We started discussing the costumes the children will be wearing. Discussing Purim with the children during our circle time is a favourite at the moment as they are all so excited to tell us about their costumes! So far we have a few princesses, Big Bird, Fireman Sam, a butterfly, a queen and a couple of ballerinas! We spoke about Haman not being a very nice man who didn't like Jewish people. Thanks to Hashem, Queen Esther and Mordechai managed to save the day which is why - as we explained to the children - Purim is such a happy day! We explained that we celebrate Purim by: listening to Megillas Esther twice, giving Mishloach Manos (giving 2 different foods to one friend), give tzedokoh to 2 poor people and to have a seudah (a special Purim meal). Today, as well as yesterday, the children started to make their own greggors. They enjoyed decorating them using different art resources and then filling them with rice, or dried lentils. We told the children Page 2 of 5

3 that they are allowed to shake them everytime Haman's name is mentioned in the Megillah in shul because he was so mean and we don't want to hear his name! The children have been practising this all week and are all very good at shaking those greggors! Today, the children also started to make a Megillas Esther. They coloured in a long scroll with a picture of MORDECHAI, QUEEN ESTHER, KING ACHASHVEIROSH, QUEEN VASHTI AND HAMAN (BOOOOO!). Then with adult support they rolled them into scroll and tied a ribbon around it. GOOD JOB CHILDREN! Wednesday: Show & Tell...exciting! First up we had Maya with a toy hammer and screwdriver "Screwdriver and hammer. I'm helping daddy fix the floor when we do DIY. I turn this round so screws don't fall down. I fixed the wall, table and chairs" WOW, WELL DONE MAYA! Next was Sofia with a musical Peppa Pig book "Peppa Pig. George. Press button. It's my Peppa Pig book" THEN SHE SHOWED HER CLASS WHAT NOISES THE BUTTONS MAKE! WELL DONE SOFIA! Next was Benji with a plush toy cat "It's kitty. I play with him at home. He's black and his foots are white. I don't know what this is but it's red (the collar)" WELL DONE BENJI! Then up came Isaac with a toy car. HE GAVE HIS CLASS A GREAT DEMONSTRATION ON PLAYING WITH IT ON THE FLOOR. WELL DONE ISAAC! Next was Tali with a Paw Patrol figurine "Paw Patrol. It's Rubble. He has a nose, a hat and he's squishy" GOOD JOB SWEETIE! Then Rosie showed her class a plush dragon with dangly accessories "It's a dragon. I play with it at home. This is a mirror. I play with it in mummy's car" FANTASTIC SWEETIE! Next was Yoav with a great book called 'Giraffes can't dance' "Giraffe's can't dance. Mummy reads it. It's a giraffe that dance. There's a monkey. He's eating a leaf. A lion with flower in his mouth" AMAZING YOAV! Next was Eitan with a grasper "daddy bought it. I take all the rubbish out of daddy's car and put it in the bin" GREAT JOB EITAN! Next was Tsofia with an m & m fan "It's a fan. Mummy and daddy bought it from New York. I press it at home. There was chocolate inside and I ate them" YUMMY PRINCESS! Then Zvi showed his class a French book called T'choup ne vet preter book "T'choup and Bonnie playing with a train. There's a car. A giraffe" AMAZING SWEETIE! Next up was Jack with a plush flower with a face"flower" THEN HE POINTED TO THE FACE AND SHOWED US "eyes" and "mouth" FAB JOB JACK! Next was Talya with a baby doll and bottle "A Page 3 of 5

4 baby. Milk" THEN A LOVELY DEMONSTRATION ON FEEDING BABY! WELL DONE SWEETIE! Then Aviyah showed her class two lovely prints "Grandpa printed it out. Daddy and Aviyah. I was a baby when I had my heart jumper on. Daddy was eating porridge" THEN SHE SHOWED US THE NEXT PRINT AND SAID "It's a lollipop thing. Grandpa made it with my name" AMAZING SWEETIE! Then up came Ava with digger (Bob the Builder) "He is digger. It's scoop. Bob the Builder is friends with him. I went on a farm with Safta and went on a tractor. It was so fast!" WOW, GOOD JOB SWEETIE! Then lastly we had Jake S with a beautiful clay cat which was in a box "It's just a cat. He needs to go to sleep. He sleeps in here. He loves cat breakfast. He has chocolate cake for his cat breakfast!" LUCKY CAT SWEETIE, WELL DONE! WHAT ANOTHER GREAT SESSION! WELL DONE CHILDREN! Thursday: We have been teaching the children a Purim song all week. If you would like to continue at home with your child the words are: (To the tune 'If You're Happy and You Know It') If you hear the name of Haman stomp your feet (STOMP STOMP) X2 If you hear the name of Haman, if you hear the name of Haman, if you hear the name of Haman stomp your feet (STOMP STOMP) If you hear the name of Esther, clap your hands (CLAP CLAP) X2 If you hear the name of Esther (x3) clap your hands (CLAP CLAP) If you hear the name of Achashveirosh, shout BOO BOO (X2) If you hear the name of Achashveirosh (x3) shout BOO BOO If you hear the name of Mordechai, shout HOORAY (X2) If you hear the name of Mordechai (x3) shout HOORAY HOORAY! WELL DONE CHILDREN...WE THINK THE WHOLE OF HENDON HEARD US! In today's French session, we centred on parts of the body, including pinching our noses (pincez le nez), tickling under our arms (chatouille en dessous du bras), and jumping on one foot, two feet, and then trois pieds (at least trying to!) (Sautez sur un pied; deux pieds, trois pieds). We had a good sing-song, first using "Alouette" for our parts-of-the-body programme. Then we sent one little one to sleep with "Fais Page 4 of 5

5 Dodo, Colin mon petit frere" yet failed miserably to awaken another lazy youngster, with "Frere Jacques". NEVER MIND, WE'LL BE TRYING AGAIN! Friday: Mummy & Daddy Shabbos today are: Rivka & Jack Book of the Week: One, Two, Three, Purim WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE CHILDREN'S PURIM COSTUMES.
