1 ב"ה TLC Nishmas NEWSLETTER 10 th March 2017 ור ים פ /ת צ ו ה - Tetzaveh/Purim "PLAY IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF RESEARCH!" - ALBERT EINSTEIN" Dear Parents and Granparents Hope you all had a great week! In this week's sedra, Tetzaveh, we learn more about the goings-on in the Mishkan. The first thing discussed is the pure olive oil used for the lighting of the menorah which Aharon and his sons must perform every evening. Also we discussed the special clothing that the Kohanim and the Kohen Gadol would wear. You can imagine how regal the Kohanim looked when they were doing their holy work in the Mishkan, wearing special clothes! The children have continued being extra busy baking, creating, singing and dancing in preparation for Purim! Monday: We hope you enjoy reading about the children's weekend as much as we enjoy listening to them telling us... "I went to see a Rabbi in his house. I eat Shabbat treats. Mummy and daddy went. The Shabbat treats were sweeties. He's a nice Rabbi. I went swimming too. I wore this thing in the swimming. Not the blue thing" WHAT A WONDERFUL WEEKEND SWEETIE! ALTHOUGH, WE ARE WONDERING WHAT THIS 'THING' IS THAT YOU WORE? YOU'RE OUR LITTLE COMEDIAN! - Benji "I did go to Amelie's show. I did see some snow on the floor. She was standing and singing a lovely song. I took my shoes off. I did clap afterwards. It was in Amelie's school" FANTASTIC SWEETIE! WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPLANATION! -Ava "I went to somebody else's birthday party. Soon it's daddy's birthday. I helped the birthday people tidy up. I went to the farm. I saw a big big cow and a little cow. I saw a horsey too" SO MANY BIRTHDAY PARTIES! YOU'RE SO LUCKY. LET US KNOW WHEN IT'S DADDY'S BIRTHDAY SWEETIE! - Jake S "I went to Victoria's house. I played magnets. I ate there. I had challah and pancakes" YUMMY! SOUNDS LIKE GREAT FUN SWEETIE! -Maya "A bike. In car with Mummy and daddy. Cars on the floor. Boom!" 2 "I went to a party. I did magic in the garden" WOW, WE NOW HAVE A MAGICIAN AT TLC! - Yoav "I went to the park with my mum. I played with my friends. There is girls there. I let them go up in the roof with a ladder. My friends throw the ball up! THAT'S VERY KIND OF YOU TO LET GIRLS GO UP IN THE ROOF WITH A LADDER SWEETIE! - Eitan CHILDREN, WELL DONE AND THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR PUTTING A BIG SMILE ON YOUR TEACHERS FACES FIRST THING ON A MONDAY MORNING! YOU'RE ALL SUPERSTARS! The children decorated pictures of the Kohen Gadol wearing his special clothes. A great topic to link to Purim and the children's Purim costumes! They made their pictures extra special using glitter, sequins and even wool as we explained how expensive the Kohen Gadol's garments were and how Aharon had to do very important work in the Mishkan wearing 8 pieces of special clothing! The children decorated wonderful masks to wear for Purim. They independently explored with different resources and colours to create their unique looking mask! WELL DONE CHILDREN! Tuesday: Today we concentrated on making and baking Hamantaschens! No doubt, the children thoroughly enjoyed this activity of measuring, pouring, stirring, mixing and filling! Not only so much fun but a great activity to promote good control of pouring, hand eye coordination, mathematical skills, listening skills, concentration, taking in turn, communication and language and working together skills! GREAT JOB CHILDREN! Asking the children what their favourite part was when making Hamantaschens, the majority was spooning the sticky jam into the centre! (OF COURSE!) Page 2 of 5

3 (and just to prove the children really did bake, some more photos!! Ed) Wednesday: Our exciting session of Show & Tell...First up was Talya with a Peppa Pig puppet book. She gave her class a great demonstration of putting her hand into the puppet to show us how Peppa Pig moves! Talya also had 3D water stickers. She pointed to the sticker with a shark on it and told her class "this is my mum" THANK YOU FOR GIVING YOUR TEACHERS A GOOD LAUGH SWEETIE! Next was Maya with a baby doll "It's a bath baby. I play with her in the bath and wash her. I wash her with soap and dry her with a towel. I sometimes let Olivia play with her" SO LOVELY SWEETIE! Next we had doctor Zvi with his stethoscope "I'm a doctor" then he put the earpiece in his ears and the chest piece onto Becky's chest and said "sick" OH NO! POOR BECKY! WHAT A GREAT DOCTOR YOU ARE! Then up came Aviyah with a toy digger and Thomas book "The other one broke. It's a truck. I play it at mummy's house. They go fast and fast WHHEEEEE" Then she showed her class her book and said "It's Thomas. It's windy. Thomas's sleeping. There's fat controller and a cow!" GREAT JOB PRINCESS! Then we had Daniel with an interactive toy. He gave his class a lovely demonstration on what happens when he presses certain buttons! WELL DONE SWEETIE! Next up was Jack with a paper aeroplane "Aeroplane. Red. I throw it. Daddy" THEN HE THREW IT IN THE AIR AND OFF IT WENT! WELL DONE SWEETIE Next up was Tsofia with "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" book "The caterpillar gets a tummy ache because he ate too much food. The caterpillar turns into a big butterfly! THAT'S RIGHT, WELL DONE PRINCESS! Then Rosie jumped up with her Peppa Pig umbrella "My umbrella. Look, it's Peppa Pig" THEN SHE PRESSED THE BUTTON AND UP IT POPPED AND SHE SAID "When it's cold and when it's raining it goes up!" FABULOUS SWEETIE! Then we had another Page 3 of 5

4 doctor...doctor Eitan with his doctor's kit. He first got out a leaflet and told his class "appointment card for my daddy. THEN HE TOLD BECKY "I check you" He put a toy blood pressure monitor around her finger and said "I press this and this goes up. It's for your arm Becky. He then got out his stethoscope put the earpiece in and chest piece to Becky's chest, concentrating very hard! He then said "open your mouth" and pretended to squirt medicine into her mouth and then said "I check your ears" and put a toy otoscope into her ear and told her "Becky you're sick" OH DEAR, POOR BECKY BUT WELL DONE DOCTOR EITAN!! Next Sofia had sunglasses and bubbles "bubbles. Hello Kitty. It's blue. Blow it with mummy in the bath" THEN SHE PUT HER SUNGLASSES ON AND SHOWED THEM OFF TO HER CLASS! SO COOL SWEETIE! Next was investigator and explorer Jake with a pair of Binoculars "Enoculas. I look in my house for any spiders. Then I creep under the couch with my enocular's for any broken glass. There is creepy crawlies. My enocular's make things look bigger and smaller!" FANTASTIC EXPLORER JAKE! Then Ava showed us a toy fire engine. "It's a fire engine. It works. It's fireman Sam. He's going to the fire station. He's going to get the fire out in the garage" WELL DONE PRINCESS! Then Tali showed us another great book called 'Spot the Monkey in the Jungle' "It's a book. Monkeys, a froggy, a snake. Birds are flying in the sky. Elephant, a butterfly. It's raining. Strawberries" GOOD JOB PRINCESS! Next was Benji with a Bing Bunny in bed "It's Bing Bunny. He's going to bed. They are his pyjamas. He needs happy Roose next to him" He turned bunny round and said "That's his tail and he's wearing funny shoes" WELL DONE SWEETIE! Then up came Yoav with a watch and glow bracelets "A circle, a watch. Car, Lightening McQqueen. He's fast. He does driving. They undo. It's a necklace" FANTASTIC SWEETIE! Last but not least was Samuel with a water bottle "Mine, bottle water" GOOD JOB SWEETIE! WHAT A GREAT SESSION! SUCH FUN AND SO INTERESTING! WELL DONE CHILDREN! Thursday: We have a birthday to celebrate at TLC! HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY TO OUR LITTLE RIVKA! WISHING YOU A DAY AS BEAUTIFUL AS YOU SWEETIE! 5 The children have learnt another song for Purim... Pat a cake, pat a cake, mummy dear Bake me a hamantashen as fast as you can Roll it, fold it and make corners three Then put it in the oven for baby and me! French avec les enfants...today we followed last week's brief introduction to "Autour, autour du jardin" ("Around the garden") by investigating the case of the tickled teddy "nounours" in greater detail. Les enfants were given strict instructions not to laugh or even to smile as we used role play in practical examination of this strange phenomenon. We think that "chatouille" (tickle) may be a French word that remains in their memory! WHAT A LAUGH CHILDREN! MERCI MONSIEUR LEON! SO, PARENTS, AS FAR AS WE KNOW, ON MONDAY WE WILL HAVE A BEAVER, A BEAR, A BIG BIRD, A BIG BUTTERFLY, A COOKIE MONSTER, ELSA, A QUEEN, FIREMAN SAM, MOANA, 2 PIRATES, A WIZARD,A BALLERINA, A FEW PRINCESSES AND EVEN A CROCODILE!
