1 Prof. Yael Latzer: Professor at the faculty of social welfare and health sciences at Haifa university, and Director, Eating Disorders Institution, Psychiatric Division, Rambam Health care campus, Haifa, Israel. Professor Yael Latzer was born in Jerusalem, Israel married with 2 children. She graduated from Haifa University with both her BA and MA Degree in Clinical Social Work. Her doctorate of medical science degree (DSc.) was obtained at the Technion Medical School, in Haifa, Israel. She received additional certification in psychotherapy, family and couples therapy. She held a two year fellowship position, training in the treatment of eating disorders, at The Psychoanalytic Institute, Menninger Foundation, in Topeka, Kansas, USA, ( ). Academically, she is a full professor at the Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences at Haifa University. She is affiliated both in the school of social work and in school of public health. In the school of social work prof. Latzer was the head of a Family Therapy, Clinical, and trauma, MA Program and in the last 2 years, she is the academic head of the ultraorthodox MA program. In the school of public health, Prof. Latzer developed an MA Nutrition program, with an emphasis on behavioral and psychological related factors. The program was opened 2009 as part of the school of public health. Prof. Latzer was the head of the program for 5 years. Recently she was nominated as a director of the center of rehabilitation research and human development. To date, she has supervised many students for their MA and PhD thesis and participates on dissertation and nomination committees nationally and internationally. She is involved in several international multi-centered research projects dealing with various aspects of Eating Disorders. הר הכרמל חיפה

2 She has published more than a hundred peer-reviewed articles in scientific and clinical journals, as well as 46 chapters in various books. She edited five books four of them on eating disorders. She has actively participated in many international and national scientific conferences and serves as a reviewer for a variety of international and local scientific journals. During the years , and she was in a sabbatical in NY USA, teaching at Yeshiva University, Ferkhauf Graduate School of Psychology, at the Nutrition and Behavior faculty, and psychology department of Columbia University. Clinically, Prof. Latzer was the founder and director of the Eating Disorders Institution, in the Psychiatric Division in Rambam, Health Care Campus, in Haifa from 1992 till The Institution s treatment model is based on a multidisciplinary framework for treating eating disorders, and focuses mainly on family therapy. Based on this model, she developed a two-year continuing education program at the Eating Disorders center for experienced clinicians from all disciplines. The Eating Disorders Institution in Rambam is the largest center in all of Israel, serving as a model for other clinics. Prof Yael Latzer is among the founders of the Israeli Association for Eating Disorders and nominated as its president for five years. She has also been a member of the organizing and scientific committees for ten Israeli Eating Disorders international and national conferences that have been held to date. In addition, she is active in the American Academy of Eating Disorders and participates in its international task force. She was accepted to the prestigious Eating Disorders Research Society (EDRS), which has a limited membership of 200 members worldwide. Prof Yael Latzer developed and established an innovative project, in 2008, the rehabilitation house for young women with Eating Disorders who have entered their recovery phase of treatment. ( Zeida Laderech ). The program was supported by the National Insurance Institute of Israel and accepted and approved by the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Social welfare. The project was proved to be a great success. Prof. Latzer received a prestigious prize for this exceptional project - the Leonore & Larry Zusman JDC Prize for excellence in the field of Social Services in Israel and in acknowledgement of her valuable contribution to the research, prevention and treatment of eating disorders both nationally and internationally. In addition, over the last decate she have been active as an advisor to the Israeli Parliament ( Knesset ) taking part in many meetings, and have contributed dramatically to the change in treatment policy regarding eating disorders. From she served as advisor to the former Knesset Member Dr. Rachel Adatto, Chair of the Health Lobby at the Knesset, who was working to pass a new Bill through the Israeli parliament. She was part of the process from the outset, providing both evidence-based data and clinical input to a number of Members of Parliament. The new legislation prohibits the appearance of underweight models (defined as having a BMI of 18.5 or lower) in commercial advertising. This Bill has the potential to make a difference for public health, in particular for adolescents and young women trapped by the unrealistic body ideal of thin models. 3 Eating Disorders and give hope to patients and their families. The Bill may also prove to be of international significance, paving the way for similar bills in other Western countries. Prof. Yael Latzer is known both locally and throughout the world, as an expert in the field of eating disorder treatment and research. Her main research areas are: 1.The relationship between eating and sleeping disorders- Since 1995, I have collaborated with Prof. Orna Tzischinsky in a pioneering research project on the relationship between eating and sleeping disorders. We have published 16 peer review scientific articles, 9 book chapters and edited one book on this topic. 2.Epidemiology, identifying at-risk groups and prevention of eating disorders among Israeli Adolescents sub groups: This research project, which is still in progress, involves investigating disordered eating attitudes, behaviors, and eating-related psychopathology among youngsters in Israel. It aims to compare age, ethnic and religious sub-groups, including socio-cultural variables. The research populations that have already been examined are schoolgirls aged from religious backgrounds, Israeli-Arab youngsters, adolescents from urban rural, and kibbutz settlements, adolescents with EDs who seek hotline help, and adolescent ballet dancers. Recently she studied also the harmful impact of media exposure including social network to disordered eating pathology among Israeli adolescents. (had a great impact, and was cited by most important magazines around the world, giving coverage to the campaign against pro-anorexia websites). In addition, these findings contributed nationally and internationally to the identification of at-risk groups for the development of eating disorders and led to the development of prevention programs on eating disorders among Israeli youth in various sectors. 3.Eating disorders and family issues: Prof. Latzer focuses on the different characteristics of family functioning among families who have a daughter with an ED. I investigated the roles of family, parental authority, communication patterns, family environment, attachment patterns, couple functioning, sibling relationships, boundaries, and mother-daughter relationship in eating disorders. She published twelve peer review scientific articles and five book chapters with my colleagues on this topic. 4.Treatment Intervention for EDs patients: Prof. Latzer was part of a research group which assessed empirical comparisons of two psychological therapy, self-psychology, and cognitive orientation in treatment of EDs, cognitive behavioral treatment which integrate short term psychotherapy, and integrative intervention program for loss of control over eating among adolescents girls. 4 פרופ' יעל לצר, פרופסור בפקולטה למדעי הרווחה והבריאות באוניברסיטת חיפה ברמב"ם, הקריה הרפואית לבריאות האדם ומנהלת המרפאה להפרעות אכילה, חטיבה פסיכיאטרית, פרופ' יעל לצר ילידת ירושלים, ישראל, נשואה + 2. סיימה תואר ראשון ושני בעבודה סוציאלית קלינית באוניברסיטת חיפה ותואר שלישי במדעי הרפואה בביה"ס לרפואה, טכניון, חיפה. כמו כן בעלת תואר בפסיכותרפיה, ובטיפול משפחתי וזוגי, והתמחתה במשך שנתיים בטיפול בהפרעות אכילה במרכז הפסיכואנליטי מנינגר, בטופקה, קנזס, ארה"ב בין השנים לאורך כל שנות עבודתה שילבה בין מחקר הוראה ועבודה קלינית, והשכילה לעשות זאת תוך שהיא תורמת ונתרמת הדדית משילוב ייחודי זה. הדבר בא לידי ביטוי בעבודות המחקר שלה להם השלכות קליניות משמעותיות, לעבודת השטח אשר זכתה לביסוס ותמיכה מחקרית, ולהוראה ששילבה מדע עם דוגמאות מהשטח. במישור האקדמי, פרופ לצר היא פרופסור מלא בפקולטה למדעי הרווחה והבריאות, הן בביה"ס לעבודה סוציאלית, והן בביה"ס לבריאות הציבור, באוניברסיטת חיפה. בביה"ס לעבודה סוציאלית, הייתה ראש התחום ללימודי משפחה, ראש התחום הקליני, וראש תחום הטראומה, בתוכנית לתואר שני. בשנתיים האחרונות מונתה לראש האקדמי שת תוכנית מא במסלול לחרדים, בשלוחה של אוניברסיטת חיפה בבני ברק. בבה"ס לבריאות הציבור, היא הקימה וניהלה את המגמה לתואר שני בתזונה והתנהגות, תוכנית אקדמית ייחודית לבוגרות בתזונה, בנושאים המשלבים היבטים התנהגותיים וטיפוליים בתזונה. התוכנית נפתחה ב 2008 וזוכה להצלחה רבה. לאחרונה, מונתה לראש המרכז לחקר השיקום והתפתחות האדם, בפקולטה למדעי הרווחה והבריאות. 5 פרופ' לצר פרסמה יותר מ 100 מאמרים בכתבי עת מדעיים בארץ ובעולם, וכן 46 ארבעה מתוכם עוסקים בסוגיות נבחרות בהפרעות אכילה. פרקים בספרים היא ערכה מדעיים. ספרים אשר כמו כן משמשת כסוקרת של מאמרים בכתבי עת מדעיים הן בחול והן בישראל. היא השתתפה באופן פעיל בכנסים בינלאומיים רבים בארץ ובעולם בהם והציגה מבחר מעבודותיה כמו כן שותפה במספר פרויקטים מחקריים בינלאומיים, העוסקים בנושאים שונים של הפרעות אכילה. היא הדריכה סטודנטים רבים לעבודות מחקר לתואר שני ושלישי ושותפה בוועדות שיפוט של עבודות דוקטורט ומינויים אקדמיים במספר אוניברסיטאות בארץ ובעולם. פרופ' יעל לצר הייתה בשבתון בניויורק ארה"ב, בין השנים, וכן שם לימדה במסלול לתואר שני ושלישי בחוג לפסיכולוגיה, באוניברסיטת ישיבה, ובאוניברסיטת קולומביה. כמו כן הייתה שותפה במספר פרויקטים מחקריים בתחום של הפרעת אכילה לילית, והפרעת אכילה התקפית במרכז המחקר להשמנה, באוניברסיטת קולומביה. הר הכרמל חיפה

5 במישור הקליני פרופ' לצר הקימה וניהלה את המרכז להפרעות אכילה, בחטיבה הפסיכיאטרית ברמב"ם בין השנים היא יישמה את המודל הרב מקצועי, כבסיס טיפולי עיקרי במרפאה ושילבה בתוכו מספר מתודות טיפוליות תוך התמקדות במודל המערכתי המשפחתי. בנוסף היא פיתחה והובילה תוכנית דו שנתית למטפלים מכל הדיסציפלינות, להכשרה בטיפול בהפרעות אכילה. היא חינכה והכשירה דורות של מטפלים. המרפאה להפרעות אכילה ברמב"ם הינה הגדולה והמובילה מסוגה בארץ ומשמשת מודל הדגל לטיפול הכשרה ומחקר בהפרעות אכילה. בנוסף היא הייתה חלק מצוות ההקמה של העמותה הישראלית להפרעות אכילה ונבחרה לנשיאה למשך חמש שנים. היא הייתה בצוות המארגן של יותר מעשרה כנסים מקומיים ובינלאומיים להפרעות אכילה שהתקיימו בישראל עד כה, וכן פעילה באקדמיה האמריקאית להפרעות אכילה במיוחד בכנסים ובמטלות הבינלאומיות, וכן התקבלה לאגודה היוקרתית הבינלאומית למחקר בהפרעות אכילה. עם החזון לרצף טיפולי ושיקום בהפרעות אכילה יזמה והקימה פרופ' לצר את הבית השיקומי הייחודי להפרעות אכילה "צידה לדרך" לצעירות אשר מחלתן עמידה במשך שנים וזקוקים ןתמיכה והדרכה בשלב היציאה להתמודדות עם חיי היום יום. הפרויקט נתמך על ידי המחלקה למפעלים מיוחדים של המוסד לביטוח לאומי למשך שלוש שנים והוכר ונתמך בהמשך על ידי משרד הבריאות והרווחה. הבית פועל בהצלחה רבה משנת בעקבות פרויקט זה זכתה בפרס הג'וינט על שם זוסמן על תרומתה למחקר טיפול ורווחת צעירות עם הפרעות אכילה בישראל, וכן באות מפעל חיים מטעם עמותת חומש לשיקום בבריאות נפש. פרופ' לצר פעילה מאד בתחומים שונים של שינוי מדיניות חברתית, בנושאים הקשורים בהטבת הטיפול, החקיקה והמניעה של הפרעות אכילה. היא הובילה וסייעה בחקיקת "חוק הדוגמניות " אותו העבירה ח"כ לשעבר דר' רחל אדטו. בעקבות זאת הוזמנה לקונגרס האמריקאי ביחד עם דר' אדטו בקיץ 2014 לדיון בוועדה העוסקת בהפרעות אכילה על מנת לבחון את הקשיים שעמדו בעת העברת החוק. פרופ' יעל לצר מוכרת היום, הן בארץ והן בעולם, כמומחית מובילה בטיפול ובמחקר בהפרעות אכילה תחומי מחקר עיקריים: הפרעות אכילה ושינה פתולוגיה הקשורה באכילה בקרב בני נוער מתת קבוצות אתניות ודתיות שונות בישראל היבטים משפחתיים בהפרעות אכילה שיקום בהפרעות אכילה היבטים פסיכופתולוגיים בהפרעת אכילה לילית הפרעות אכילה בקרב חולות עם הפרעות אכילה התקפיות שעברו ניתוחים בריאטריים הר הכרמל חיפה
