1 Annunciation P.S. Nolan Avenue Brooklyn Vic All correspondence to: P O Box 431 Altona North Vic 3025 Ph: Fax: principal@asbrooklyn.catholic.edu.au 12th August 2016 NEWSLETTER Reflection Jesus said to his disciples: See that you are dressed for action and have your lamps lit. Be like men waiting, for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks. Happy those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. I tell you solemnly he will put on an apron, sit them down at the table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch he comes, or in the third, but happy those servants if he finds them ready. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what hour the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. In the gospel, Jesus tells the disciples. Be ready! Keep your lamps burning. Being ready means to attend to your relationships, to be prepared to be involved in others lives, to do for them what you would like them to do for you. What does this mean for you in your life now? Let us pray for our own needs and the needs of others. Amen Dear Parents/Carer s Next Monday, August 15th, is the Feast of the Assumption and a Holy Day of Obligation. The whole school will be attending Mass at 10a.m. and all family members are welcome to join us. On Thursday, we are taking the whole school to take part in the Vietnam Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony. We will be making a day of it, weather permitting, with classes having lunch in the Botanical Gardens and some exploration of the precinct. On Friday, the children in years 2 6 will all be participating in the Spotswood District Inter School athletics carnival at the Newport Park Athletics Track. The sports start at 9:15a.m. and so we will be getting away from Annunciation straight after the bell to start school. Parents are very welcome to come along and support the children. REMINDERS Just a friendly reminder that Term 3 fees are now due. Statements were sent home in the last week of Term 2. Could you please bring fees up to date as soon as possible. If you are experiencing any difficulties, could you please arrange to see Barry as soon as possible. CHOCOLATE DRIVE Thank you to the families that have already sent in money for the chocolate drive. All monies or unsold chocolates needed to be returned on 8th August. If you haven t already done so could you please return them as soon as possible. If anyone would like another box to sell, please see Connie at the office.
