This is the time for all of us to practically demonstrate "sam'ena wa ata'ana - we hear and we obey" and "raazi hain hum usee main jis main teri razaa ho - we are pleased with Thy pleasure" in letter and spirit. Nasir Mahmood Malik Dear Detroit Jama'at Members: Assalamualaikum. By the Grace of Almighty Allah the construction of our cherished Mosque & Community Center is finally well on its way. By the same token, the construction bills are becoming due at a much faster pace. I need to draw your kind attention to the importance of our sacred responsibility. Jazakallah to all those members who have and who are regularly contributing to the Detroit Mosque Fund. However, the pace of our collections is alarmingly slower than the pace of the bills. Since January 2005 we have collected $299,096.00, an average of less than $18,000 per month. To complete this historic project as planned, we need to raise over $100,000 per month for the next 6 months or so. Therefore, I humbly urge you to pray to Almighty Allah that he may enable us all to reach deep in our God-Given wealth and generously contribute NOW. Tehrik e Jadid The blessed scheme of Tehrik e Jadid was launched by Hadhrat Khalifat ul Masish II ra on November 23, The Tehrik e Jadid year is from November 1 - October 31. 3 Volume 7, Issue 8 Letter from Mohtaram Ameer Sahib, USA Ijtema Ansar Annoucements Section Volume 7, Page 7, Issue Issue No. 6213/2006 August 12, 06 National Amla Members Missionaries Jamat Presidents Sadran Auxiliaries Rasool-Ullah SAW set out in the 6 th year of Hijra to perform Umra at Mecca, following all traditions of free access to Ka aba for worship. This was a fundamental human right of those times and that place. The Quresh swore at the Ka aba that they would not let the Muslims perform Umra and blocked the road to the city. They stood there wearing animal skins as part of their pagan custom of showing ferocity and defiance. Rasool-Allah SAW hearing of this sought an alternate route to Mecca, so as to avoid a fight and maintain the peaceful intent of the occasion. The route they took was arduous for the Muslims to travel because of the terrain, till they reached Hudaibiy a. All this time he asked the traveling Muslims to pray istighfar and tauba as they went over the difficult terrain. He told the as was prescribed for the Jews (of which they failed to avail them- Muslims this prayer was the equivalent of the Hitta-tun selves). The action of delay and obstruction of that time, and perhaps the prayers and forbearance of the Muslims, and certainly their obedience to the Prophet SAW, was a source of glorious growth, success, and blessings for the Muslims, by the command of Allah. Hazrat Khalifatul Masieh Al-Khamis has reluctantly decided to postpone his visit to USA for this year. This is because of the defiant obstruction posed by the worldwide circumstances to his travel plans. We are all aware of the news screens of the last several days. This then gives us the opportunity to accept Hazur s decision in the same light as Muslims of the 6 th Hijra. It gives us the same opportunity to do Istighfar and Tauba. And if Allah pleases it will give us comparable blessings, as followers of His commands in this age. Ameen. Please convey this to members so that there is no needless speculation or discussion, rather it is of prayers to Allah. Please affirm their total and full acceptance of Hazur s decision as an act destined to bring blessings to the entire Jamat. May every Ahmadi join in praying to Allah for His Forgiveness and the Blessings from ita at. Ameen. Ahsanullah Zafar Khuddam activities included: Monthly soup kitchen lbs of chicken was donated and 350 people were served with hot meals. As part of the clothing drive about 400 pieces of mixed clothes were donated to local chairity. Adopt-a-highway - Khuddan cleaned 4 miles of I-75 Participation in National Ijtema - 48 Members participated including 3 Ansar. Detroit Majlis won many competitions at the Ijtema. Six Khuddam participated as Nazimeen at the Ijtema. 4 Page 4 Advice regarding using betel leaves and huqqa It is recorded in Hadith that, Beauty of Islam also embedded in avoiding unnecessary habits. Use of betel leaves (paan), tobacco and other addictive drugs falls within the same realm. A simplistic approach would be to leave these habits. Even if there is no apparent damage due to such habits and/or things, it may bring upon larger calamities later on and people may find themselves in trouble. For example, if one is imprisoned then they will certainly be fed but will be have access to such habitual substances. Or, even if a person finds himself at a location where they may not have access to such ingredients, it will still cause difficulties for them. Good health should never be sacrificed at the risk of bad habit. Allah s will has adequately termed all physically harmful habits as spiritually harmful too and at the head of all these habits is consumption of liquor. It is indeed true that drunkenness and righteousness are opposites. Opium also inflicts great damage. Medically the damage caused by opium is more than that caused by liquor in that it makes the user lose all senses. Bashir Rohela and Naseeruddin Khalid Ahmed to represent Detroit in the upcoming Ansar Majlis e Shura which will Inshallah be held during the National Ijtema, in Bait ur Rahman, MD from October 27-29, National Ijtema - Travel Plans All Ansar who wish to travel to the National Ansar Ijtema should contact Zaeem Sahib Ansaraullah Br. Ajaz Khan as soon as possible. This will allow him to make appropriate transportation arrangements for all needing assistance. He can be reached via at akhan@wright-filippis.com or via cellular phone at Annual Picnic Detroit Jama at s annual summer picnic was held on Sunday July 23, 2006 in Kensington Park. Close to 200 members attended this event. Aside from the delicious food there were many fun filled activities which were enjoyed by all age groups. 5 Volume 7, Issue 8 Events Nasirat Camp - July Alhamdollilah, nasirat held their first camp "Al-Noor" in Detroit at the AMCD house from July nasirat attended the camp. They participated in the following activities: Congregational prayers, including Tahajjud Workshop based on Hudhoor aba 's khutba of May 26, 2006 Religious Knowledge Trivia, a game on explaining hadith An oral test from the national syllabus Serving meals, baking cookies and clean-up after all meals Arts and crafts, in which they painted their own camp t-shirts and made decorative door handles Hygiene Workshop with Sadr Lajna and a telephone game with our National Nasirat Secretary. On the last day, the girls made a poster depicting their favorite part of the weekend mostly agreeing that their favorite activity was arts and crafts. Jazakallah to the Nasirat Secretaries and their helpers for organizing such a wonderful weekend for our nasirat. Nasirat Ijtema - July 16 By the grace of Allah, all the Nasirat were well prepared for the Ijtema. 13 Nasirat attended the Ijtema and participated in the Tilawat and speech competitions. Many sisters had stalls selling beautiful clothes, shoes etc. Nasirat sold cookies and Brownies. By the grace of Allah, we were able to raise $ for the Detroit Mosque Fund. REMINDERS: 1. Khidmate Khalq Translation Project Volunteers: The following sisters from our chapter are assisting in the translation of Hudhoor aba s sermons into English for the Centenary Celebrations.
